    Eating binge tonight

Reading through everyone's posts makes me feel like maybe I'm not such a failure after all. This diet is really hard and we are all trying our best. Right after my surgery, I was told that I shouldn't get on the scale and I shouldn't try to lose weight before my first fill. That's because my body has gotten really messed up from eating so little and such strange things. I am hoping that I can continue losing but it is definitely a battle. When you eat about 800 calories and you don't work out a ton, your body probably tries to store the food as fat rather than burn it. Anyway, I think that we all need to just let go of the guilt so that it doesn't derail us in the future. Keep fighting the good fight everyone.

    shoulder pain and cheating

Thanks for the support. I am trying to find a support group in my area because I was banded in Chicago but I live in St. Louis. I feel like the doctors know that people are fat because they have issues with food, so there is no way that they expect these same people to be able to stick to their instructions 100%. When I mess up, which hasn't been that much, I just think, tomorrow is another day and another chance to do better. I think that the guilt actually makes me so worked up that I end up making poorer food choices. My shoulder pain feels exactly like what you were describing, but I've had a heating pad on it for a few hours now and it seems to be getting a little better. If anyone else has input on how bad it is to cheat, I would love to hear it.
  4. Hi, this is my first post. Ok, so first, I have to admit that on day four I ate some puffed rice cereal. It went down ok, but now I'm really worried about erosion. I've also been cheating a little bit with split pea soup and I had a no-fat pudding tonight. But I've been having really bad gas pains in my shoulder all night? Is this related to eating too much? Does anyone know scientifically/anatomically how that's all happening? I also need someone else to tell me that even though I messed up once, since the food went down fine and I chewed it up really well, that I haven't messed everything up. Help!
  5. Hi, I would love to hear from anyone that started at a 31 or 32 BMI. I know that there may not be that many of you out there. I am trying to decide if the band is right for me. If I got the surgery, I would be trying to lose about 60 pounds or maybe a little more. I have struggled my whole life with being overweight, but I am in my twenties, so maybe I haven't tried everything yet. Is there anyone out there like me that is thinking about the procedure or already had it and would like to comment? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions as to other things I should do, and I'm also wondering if I will regret the surgery 5 years down the line when I have lost the weight and I still can't eat very much. My main issue is that it takes a lot of work for me to lose a little bit of weight, but only a few days of eating a little too much too gain it all back. I think that overweight people at any size have many of the same issues with food and exercise, so comments from everyone would be appreciated, but I'm especially interested in hearing from someone that is in a similar position to myself. Thanks.
