ISOPURE CLEAR PROTEIN DRINKS
Cmsumom replied to NJMOMof2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep I tried the Blue Raspberry Isopure today- it was VERY sweet- and made me think of something they make you drink for like a glucose tolerance test or something that you have to try to chug down some way- I couldn't handle even the sip or two I took- gag- -
I just tried the Blue Raspberry and it is so very super sweet - I couldn't handle it- maybe if it was diluted with Water or ice- maybe mixed in a vanilla Protein shake with ice chips or something - ugh.

does anyone have this insurance- just wondering how long it took them to approve you from when it was turned in? Thanks.
-
Yes- I guess- I don't watch TV much- but he does a lot of lap-band- I am wanting the sleeve- I turn in all my paperwork to insurance tomorrow- so we will see- He says he waited to do the sleeve because he wanted to make sure it was a good surgery for people and had good results over time- but I am not finding anyone that has had this surgery with him- so maybe that will be a good question that I should see how many he has actually done-

Hi, I am getting ready to have my surgery with Dr. Malley- Has anyone heard of anyone having him do the surgery? I live near Lees Summit, mo.
-
Yep- It helps it from just hanging- therefore heals faster and less stretched over the time of loosing it- especially if you are also working out- - the "bouncing" isn't so much so that the skin does stay in place.

Hi, I just wanted to ask- I have had two c-sections and a hysterectemy and then later a tumor and ovaries taken out- everyone is talking about getting up and walking immediately - am I right to assume that this surgery will not be like the others - in that you dont fill like you are ripping in half when you stand up or in severe pain?
-
Thanks guys- that kinda makes me more aware of what it will be like-

Seven Months and 115 Pounds Later!
Cmsumom replied to Brian66's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is great! I bet you feel sooo much better now!! -
Thats what I think too- ok a wrinkle or two more looks a lot better than my rolls of fat do
-
I have taken it- yes I had that side effect severely so I quit taking it- the basic reason they give you that is for weight loss- so after the sleeve I would imagine that you would no longer need to take it.

How much experience should your surgeon have???
Cmsumom replied to OilSooner's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I have the same choice- go to a doctor who does all kinds of baratric surgery and is more experienced- and in a hospital- or a highly experienced surgeon with the lap-band and has only done 5 sleeves so far- but also has aanother doctor who has done over 100 RYN's/sleeves in there with him. I choose the latter- BECAUSE- he really cares about his patients and has a great after care program and follow-up plus after surgery He sees you - not just a nurse like the more experienced doc. - That was a hard decision based on the amount of actual sleeve experience- but I feel more comfortable with everything about it. And like the Doc above said- my doc said the same thing- he wanted to wait before he started doing them because he didn't feel there was enough information out on them yet- and wanted to make sure he was doing something not only safe but effective for his patients. -
Expected weight loss
Cmsumom replied to maine-lyme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry- I am not sure about the weight loss- as I have not had my surgery- but you said that you went back to work after just a week- was that hard- ? I am just trying to adjust my vacation accordingly- -
Brand New to VSG Idea -- Suggestions?
Cmsumom replied to MorganCath's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you say you take 5000mcg a day? Isn't that a lot-? I have been taking 1 tablet a day- havnt had surgery yet- but my doctor acted like that was enough- maybe I should up it- cause I do not have much hair to start with . -
How long did it take for you to be approved?
Cmsumom replied to Melissal's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi, I havn't had mine sent in yet- but my doctors office said it could take 1-20 days for insurance to approve- and then my doctor is 3-4 weeks out after they get the approval. -
I guess I am in the same boat- although I am 30- I have had 2 c-sections, abdominal hysterectomy and then another surgery to remove the ovaries and a tumor- just scared to death of this -might seem silly but it is ONE more surgery and then what if I need to have plastic surgery- sometimes I just feel done with it- but then I look at my body in the mirror now and think- ok- I have lived this many years with my gut hanging out, my fat hanging off my arms, a big butt and miserable- so what if I have a little skin hanging and feel great- what have I lost - nothing but fat and gained confidence in myself- that I could actually do something for myself and in the end would also benefit my kids, my husband and other relationships around me

Do they always put in a drain with this type of surgery?
-
Ok- so I havn't seen this much on here- all my insurance requires is one nutrition consult and a mental evaluation- and that is it- wow!!

Does anyone have experience dealing with Anthem BCBS of MISSOURI? Thanks, Tina
-
Yep agree- just run with it- but when you finally are able to close your jaw from dropping open in AH- say thank you and let him know just how much you appreciate what He has done because he loves and cares for YOU!

future stomach problems
Cmsumom replied to groovearmada's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I know how you feel- I feel the same way- just the thought of it being that way forever scares me- its really silly actually- I broke my ankle a few years back and now have a plate and 8 screws in it - I was in my early 20s and I remember thinking at first (which would even make me sick to my stomach) about that all being on my ankle for however many years- and they stick out and I can feel them- nothing like the stomach thing- but you forget over time that it is even that way- so to think about this surgery- I know right now and probably the first few years it will be soo very different- but after a while it will be like my ankle and it will just be my way of life. -
Hey, I am sorry to hear this- although I have not had this surgery yet- I have had a surgery every year for the last five years- the last two- hysterectemy and then a very large tumor and ovaries- and after both my hair fell out- and still is- my doctor said to take the biotin and take two flinestone vit. a day- plus if I didn't get some sleep and quit stressing that it would fall out anyway- stress and being upset really does horrible things to your body- You made a decision to better your life- be strong and happy that you were brave enough to take that step- use it to the best of your ability- stay strong!! Hope you are doing better.

Has anyone had this type of surgery with Dr. Malley? Thanks, Tina
-
Sorry- What is this? I have never heard of this?

Not to scare any of you- I have a friend that has the lap band- and she had lost a lot of weight - so she had a full body lift and boob job- but then- she just kept loosing no matter what she ate- and has lost probably 20-30 more lbs and cant keep it on- she is very thin- so that is a fear i have also- all the while thinking it wont come off either when I get sleeved. So I think it is something- that you should be aware of but try not to worry to much about-
