  1. I had the memory problem also (couldn't figure out how to use the hand can opener). I was scared to death! I got tested and my iron was very low. Once I started taking iron, I haven't had the problem again

    March Role Call!!

Casselcom..have you tried any of the over the counter stuff, like Prilosec? I did end up getting a prescription from my PCP but she says it is about the same as taking Prilosec (or Omeprazole is the generic name I think) 2 times a day. I haven't really had a problem with heartburn since I started, so it works for me.

    March Role Call!!

Hi Purple Tulip. I am right there with you. Hungry and have been in a 6 week stall. Very frustrating. I keep thinking I should go back on liquids again for a short time just to get the scale to move, but the thought of it makes me cringe! I do go to a support group once a month and there seems to be the group that has never been hungry since the sleeve and then the group that has to really watch every calorie that goes in their mouth. I guess I am going to always be one of those! But I am determined to get to my goal!
  4. I am still in a stall, but still doing good about tracking stuff. My problem is the working out. Just too darn hot. But I ordered a fitbit and will see if that motivates me. Sticking at 800 calories right now and high on my Protein and low on carbs. Question...about how many calories did you all normally have daily during weight loss??? I'm having some memory problems and my PCP thinks it is due to too low of calories!

16 weeks and in a bad stall

I haven't lost anything in 6 weeks and have actually gained 3 lbs this last week. I actually tried cutting down the calories to 700 and it didn't work, so maybe I'll up them a bit and see if that helps. I am 18 weeks out and really frustrated. Had great loss at the beginning and now just can't get out of this slump.
  7. I'm just back from vacation today, so going to start tomorrow. Going on vacation the middle of August again, so need the challenge!

I hate to say this but...

So glad to read this. I ended my honeymoon period much too early. Family wedding and summer parties led to drinks and junky food. I thought I couldn't eat these things. Funny, I was able to eat and drink with no uncomfort or sickness. Now I know for a fact I SHOULDN'T EAT THEM not that I can't eat them! And I wonder why I have been a month with no loss... getting back on track now. Gotta love this support group!

    March Role Call!!

I'm hanging in there also. Down right at 60lbs from my heaviest. It has been much harder than I thought it would. From the beginning, I have had no problems at all with nausea or restrictions...never had a problem eating anything or any amount. I do go to monthly support groups which really helps. I just have to accept that I will always be someone who has to weigh and measure everything to make sure I keep portions in control. I have no problems getting all my proteins in and have had no hair loss so far, (knock on wood.) Right there with everyone on exercise. Need to do more, but it is too darn hot! I do feel much better and have definitely contributed to the Goodwill with a bags of clothes I was happy to no longer be able to wear!
  10. I am so glad I read this post. I am in the same boat and thought it was only me. I am very frustrated! I am 2 months out and I don't feel any restriction. I have never pushed it horribly far and don't want to because this was my last resort and I don't want to know I can eat as much as before. I definitely have to watch everything I put in my mouth because nothing tells me it is time to stop. I feel no different than I did before surgery and I was a self pay, so I am even more frustrated that I am out a big chunk of money and had major surgery. I know the amount I have lost looks really good but I have gained 2 lbs this week and figure it is because I didn't track my calories. I was eating between 600 and 800 and at my last Drs visit, they said I should be between 800 and 1000. As soon as I did that, I either haven't lost anything or have gained, so I think maybe that is too many calories for me. This is so much harder than I expected it to be!!! I would give anything to be one that had a really good restriction!
  11. I was sleeved on March 16. I have had really good weight loss (until this week). It is my first week to have solid foods. I have been very, very lucky that I haven't gotten sick on anything. I am a little bit at a loss as what to eat. I am trying to keep the carbs down, (and this is a struggle...I sure can't figure out how anyone stays under 30 carbs.) I also haven't felt a restriction yet. I haven't lost any weight since I started the solid food, and of course, that makes me very nervous. Not sure if it is just because of the change in diet or a little stall or what... Would love to hear from the other March Sleevers and see how everyone is doing. I would love to hear about successes...complications...tips that you want to share...etc.
  12. I'm with you all....please let this happen to me and let it happen soon!!!!

    Clear Liquid Diet & Protein?

I totally misread this thread. I thought it was a general question about getting protein in. I didn't realize it was a pre-op question. I apologize for giving bad advice!!!

    Clear Liquid Diet & Protein?

I drank a New Whey protein shot every day. They didn't taste very good, but if you can get it down it is like 42 grams of protein and I swear it was the reason I was up and around so quickly. I had to go back to work 5 days after surgery and I think the protein was my saving grace! I now actually like a couple of them.
  15. Check out Kayak.com also.
  16. Seems like a lot of people after 3 weeks of being sleeved are still having a really hard time eating. Well, I am worried that I have the opposite problem. I just started on mushies on Wednesday, and I have yet to feel "full". Not that I really want to experience anything uncomfortable, but it seems odd that I am having no problems eating or drinking. I, of course, stop after eating about 1/2 cup of whatever I have pureed (Soup, tuna salad, etc.) but about 2 hours later, I'm really hungry again. Hate to complain when I'm feeling really good, but I just kind feel like I'm on every other diet I've ever been on and guess I'm just confused about how all works....I'm losing weight which was the ultimate goal, but.... Anyone else have a hunger issue while on pureed food, and if so, does it change once you go on solids???? I really wasn't terribly hungry while on only liquids, but maybe that was because there wasn't a lot of choices to make! Don't get me wrong...I feel lucky that I feel good, but at the same time, I paid a lot of money to not feel any different.

    Wellbutrin

I was on it years ago for smoking cessation (and it worked great) and then was on it for about 6 months for anxiety and stress reduction. It definitely didn't increase my sex drive and didn't lower my appetite, but it did help with the stress level. It also made me a little loopy sometimes which is very out of character for me (like I forgot to shut the car off once and it was still running an hour later). I have been off it since being sleeved because you can't crush it or cut it in half. I haven't really notice a change with or without it, so not sure I am going to take it again once I am back taking whole pills. It definitely is a drug that works different on everyone.
  18. I was sleeved on March 16th and have not had many problems at all since I came home. I can drink the Protein shakes just fine and am getting all my liquids in (with Water or crystal light). Mornings seem to be the hardest for me...just trying to get out of bed, but once I move around I feel pretty good. I do however still feel terribly bloated and am 2.5 lbs over my surgery weight. I was wondering when everyone else's bloating and swelling from surgery went away?
  19. I am on full liquids for the first 3 weeks. Not necessarily clear ones. I do drink protein shakes, eat cream soups (strained) and jello. But every dr. has their own post-op rules, so call them and ask what they want you to do.

    My Texas Sleevers

One of the best things about Dr. Kim is he is exactly like he is in the commercial. Now that I am sleeved, I can hear his calming voice and it just makes me smile. I trust this man implicitly!

    Sleeping on Stomach

About 2 weeks out, I woke up and I was on my stomach one morning and it was heavenly.

    March Role Call!!

SinDLou....my heart goes out to you! I lost my mom a year ago and that was my excuse for eating and drinking my way through life....just another reason why I am on this board and why I ended up with the surgery. So I think you should be very proud of yourself for not avoiding the pain with food.
  23. I see today is your big day, so wanting to hear how it all went. Sending a gazillion good vibes!

  25. For the last couple of days I have hurt so bad from my left incision, I really thought I had done something! I know I overdid it on Friday because I felt really good, but today even breathing hurt. So I looked it up here and was relieved to see someone else had the same thing. HOWEVER, I am a bit nervous because I think it is a TEXAS ailment. I'm in Grapevine and was a Self-pay at Forest Park also! HAHAHAHA. What are the odds???
