  7. Girl.... no I stopped after about 6 days. I lost alot of weight, but like most low carb high protein diets if you start eating like before you gain most of it back. I lost about 17 pounds and regain half back so far. That's OK tho. It was just practice. Next time it will be for real. How did the consult go? He seems to a very busy Dr. I will for sure update you when I have any good info. Holla back when you can. Have a good day Renee.

    Pre-op diet hell 7/5/10

Sawree. I can only imagine how hard it is for you. Maybe drink more water between dinner and bedtime or go for a walk. Just remember to keep telling yourself this so my liver can strink and my surgery is safer for me. That's what I'm going to tell myself when I'm on my pre-op diet. Deb

  10. Hey Jennifer, what did you think about giving yourself those injections to prevent blood clots. I was a little bit leary at first, but then peeps starting telling me it wasn't that bad, plus my daughter said she would if I couldn't. So I guess I'm cool about it now. Thank goodness. I take it you haven't heard anything yet? Have a good week at work. TTYL.

  17. I just got back from my pre-op class. I loved it.......until the end. Let me start from the beginning. There was a physical therapist who talked to each of us individually about if we have any problems with starting a exercise program now and she also talked about some other things too. We then gather in a group and went over a handout that she gave us. Basically the handout was about your goals for exercising, how to find your target heart rate, what kind of shoes to wear... etc. COOL. Then the nurse coordinator comes in and another handout is passed out. We go over it. Everything is looking good until she says to prevent blood clots each of us will be using AV impulse pads to our feet, given heparin in the hospital, and NOW this is the kicker. I HAVE TO GIVE TO MYSELF AN..... ARIXTRA INJECTION FOR 7 DAYS AFTER SURGERY IN MY STOMACH. Mmm.... WHAT????:scared0: Man.... I'll do what I have to do,but dang it injections!!!!! Did anyone else have to do the injections after surgery?:thumbup1:

    Kinda bummed!!!!

This was my surgeon's required pre-op class where we talked about the injections. All of his patients have to give themselves the injections. I don't think all surgeons require the injections, but it kinda sounds like most do to prevent blood clots. I'll probably do it myself, since several posters have said it is'nt that bad. If Snowcrystal's granddaughters can do it......I can too. LOL.
  19. Hey Renee, how was your consult with Dr. Hoehn? I went to the dietician today and that was very informative. One more thing to do and that's to get my EGD on Thursday the 8th. I'm not looking forward to that at all. :thumbdown:Have a good 4th, don't eat to much BBQ {lol}.Ttyl.

  21. I just had a consult with my nut today and based upon her recommendations. For the first 3 months, the supplement should be chewable . After three months, you may change from chewable to tablets/capsule. Remember it must be smaller than a plain M&M to fit through your opening. Spread the vitamins/minerals throughout the day. Do not take them all at once. MULTIPLE VITAMINS/MINERAL: Two per day at different times Bariatric Advantage Multivitamin Celebrate Chewable Multivitamin Centrum Chewable Multivitamin {NOT Silver};after 3 months switch to Centrum A to Zinc tablets. Calcium CITRATE with Vitamin D and Magnesuim: 1500-2000 mg/day Take no more than 500-600mg at a time Do not take calcium within 2-4 hours of taking Iron or thyroid medicine. Bluebonnet liquid Calcuim Citrate with Magnesium & Vitamin D Celebrate Calcium Plus Bariatric Advantage Chewable Calium Citrate Lozenges Bariatric Advantage Calcium Crystals with Vitamin D Citracal Petites, to be used after 3 months, 2 tablets three times a day VITAMIN B 12: 1000 mcg/week sublingual - under the tongue lozenges, tablets, or dots {NO liquids}; you must let it DISSOLVE under your tongue for at least 2 minutes for aborption Nasal spray-once a week in one nostril {prescription only} Intramuscular injection- 1000 mcg monthly per your primary doctor B-COMPLEX: Once a day. Be sure it has thiamine in it. Even though your B-Complex may list Vitamin B-12 as an ingredient, you do NOT absorb B-12 adequately and must take Vitamin B-12 by another route Solaray B-Comples Chewable Twinlab StressMates Bi-layer Chewable wafers {2 wafers} B-Complex tablet/capsule, after three months IRON AND VITAMIN D Take additional iron and Vitamin D only on the advice of your physician.
