  1. Each person is different,so with that being said. I have had two pregnancies and my pain with childbirth was worse than my WLS. As a matter of fact after surgery I was feeling soooo good my first thougt was "DID I HAVE THE SURGERY." LOL. Again for every person who says their surgery wasn't that bad there's gonna be a equal amount of peple who say it was the worst, but I don't think you will find many peeps who regret having the surgery no matter how much pain they were in. Good luck!!! Deb
  2. Good luck and best wishes!!!! Deb

    Favorite protein bars

I love the bars and hot chocolate from Slim4Life. They are a bit pricey, but sooooo good. Really all of the bars I have tried are very good. They have about 15 grams of Protein in each bar and also the hot chocolate. The hot chocolate warms you up on these cold and snowy days and nights. Deb

I am so embarrassed- not exercising

I right with you on that one. I walk and very little of that and that's about all I do!!! I know I need to tone up especially at my age, but I just don't want to. I too have Leslie Sansome's Walk away the Pounds and have access to WII Fit, but I am just not motivated to EVEN try them. My excuse is let me lose 10 or 15 more pounds and I will do more. I have lost over 115 pounds to date and ..... still no exercising. I want to be a exercise junkie, but wanting and doing are two separate things. Any suggestions, tips would be greatly appreciated by anyone!!! Deb
  9. Thanks for sharing. You look GREAT!!! Deb
  10. Hey Renee, I'm getting excited for you!!!!! Surgery is just a few days away. I think as long as you don't have a fever you should be good to go. All the best baby girl.

  11. I see you are from Davenport. I have a soft spot in my heart as my mom was born there. I was born in Cedar Rapids. Keep up the good work.

    Is a weight gain normal?

No quite sure what you mean by challenged by cottage cheese. My typical day of eating is as followings. Breakfast at 3am is usually a container of greek yogurt and then I have a snack about 7 or 8 am which is a Protein shake. lunch is at 1. I would have a 1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese. If I still feel I can eat more I will have maybe 1/4 to 1/2 cup green Beans and then a snack at 3pm is another Protein Shake or 2 oz. of cheese. At dinner !/2 cup to 3/4 cup of roasted chicken and some green beans. I HAVE NEVER EATEN TWO CUPS OF ANYTHING at one sitting. I don't believe I could even if I wanted to. This is my surgeon's and my nut's nutritional guidelines. You are sooooo early in the game I would be careful as to NOT to stress the staple line, Good luck!!!!! Deb P.S. I energy levels and labs are great.

    Is a weight gain normal?

I am 4 months post op and I am lucky if I can eat a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. What are you eating if I may ask? Deb
  17. In answer to your question do I love my sleeve, the answer would be YES I LOVE IT.. NOW. At the beginning even tho I didn't have a lot of pain or gas I think I did have buyers remorse. But each day after surgery my feelings about food changed and I how I deal with those feelings changed. One day I looked in the mirror and I thought I feel and look good. I am happy I have my sleeve.

    Diet Carbonated Drink

I am 4 months out and didn't start drinking diet soda until about 3 weeks ago. I now enjoy a caffeine free DP about once or twice a week with no issues. I have also tried Diet Sunkist. I love to put my soda in the freezer just long enough to make a ICEE. Deb

  23. TRUTH be told. There nothing you can do to stop our hair from falling out. It is a natural course of things to happen. Eating more Protein, shampooing your hair with special shampoos will make the hair you still have shining and pretty.... no doubt, but my nut and surgeon have both agreed everyone who has major surgery there is going to be hair shedding. Some more than others. They did suggests limiting your use of hair care products like hair color or perms and stop blow drying. I did a hair color last week and let me tell you. DO NOT DO IT!!!!! I let it dry naturally( NO blow drying ) As soon as I comb thru it large clumps of hair fell out. I literally screamed out loud. NO MORE HAIR COLOR FOR ME!!!!! Lesson learned. My best advice is try not to worry and know it is a natural thing and it will not last forever. Right now I have visions of Larry from the Three Stooges running in my mind and that style is just not me. I am seriously thinking about getting a cute wig. Similar to my hair now. Good luck to ALL OF US SHEDDING OUR HAIR!!!! It can freak you out. Deb
