Did you develope Gallbladder issues?
jasaz replied to kemo46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I knew I had gallstones going in, so I also had mine taken out with my VSG surgery. After was told I had golf ball sized stones!!! -
OMG! OMG! I am no longer OBESE
jasaz replied to brazcan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great job, I have a lot longer to get there, but am on my way!! -
Bob's Red Mill carries the grain itself. My grocery store carries Quinoa/Corn pasta's in their healthfood section. Food Network has some recipes. I am just moving to solids, and am looking forward to eating again (as opposed to drinking everything).

Trying to tell my inner voice to shut it!
jasaz replied to pasquini's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was a self pay, and the hard thing for me was spending that amount of money on myself. I told that little voice to shut up, and that I was worth the investment!!! You are too - . -
Here is my progress so far...with pics!

You look Great!! I think with the sleeve, trips, etc. are not such a stress - we all still have the sleeve limiting our intake. Love my sleeve . -
Hungry, or not...after surgery
jasaz replied to SpiceyMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks out from surgery, and I am not hungry at all. I am struggling to get the calories in. I do occ get head hunger, but so far have been able to ignore it. -
Day 10.All this for eighteen pounds.
jasaz replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got sleeved 4 days before you, so am in about the same place. I decided to only weigh once a week - less likely to freak out. I have not tried the CVS Protein - maybe it really has fish guts in it - LOL. I got samples of the nectar Naturals, glad I just got samples because while the taste is ok I am very sensitive to smells - and it smells like dirty socks (really old sweaty dirty socks). The smell alone would make you gag. I got some of the Chike protein, it comes in individual packets. I really like the strawberry mixed with SF cheesecake pudding. I am really bored as well, it is very easy to just not eat at all. But, if you take in no calories your body will assume starvation and shut down the metabolism all together. I saw this when I transitioned from Clear liquids to full liquids, I did not start to lose again until on full liquids. As well, I am going back to work on Monday - we will see how it goes - as long as it takes me to eat, I am thinking of just taking a Protein Drink for lunch. I too went to Mexico - TJ with Dr. Kelly - and have been relatively ok emotionally with my family. They are both gone for the weekend though, so it is just me and the dogs and 4 inches of snow!! Poor fruit trees. I am hanging in there with you. Jean -
Feeling too good too soon?
jasaz replied to Ms Lady in NC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt good by 24 hours. I had been up and walking around no problems. I went to Mexico for my surgery, and the doctor keeps you in for 48 hours on IV meds for pain and nausea. I did not really need the pain meds. That being said, when you have to start drinking and taking meds on the new stomach, it can be painful. Follow your docs advice and take your recovery time to get used to the new stomach. Jean -
I need advice about life 12 days out!
jasaz replied to meggiep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 12 days out today and feeling good. I could probably go to work, but took 2 weeks off - so I am napping as needed and taking it easy - besides walking. I agree with the previous poster who suggested a back-up just in case, it will all depend on your recovery ? have you had any other surgeries, so you could gauge your recovery? If you do go, you would probably be at the full liquids stage - depending on instructions - and you must stay hydrated!! Jean -
In other news I am not dead.
jasaz replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are at about the same place, I am 12 days out (also not dead!!). I went to TJ with Dr. Kelly. Mexico is not scary, at least not where I was. Incisions look great, bruising is almost gone - Life IS Good!! -
My plan is 1 wk clear, 2 weeks full liquid (I am in week 2-sleeve 3/25), 1 week mushie, wk 5 start solids.

When Can I have COFFEE!!!
jasaz replied to NJMOMof2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My diet said no caffeine beverages for 1 week if you had acid reflux. Well, I did not have that, but did have a hiatal hernia repair and gallbladder removal along with my sleeve. So I waited until today - day 8, and am having my first coffee now - I made it like a cafe au lait - 1/2 c coffee, 1/2 cup hot milk (lowfat of course), and 1 tbsp sf french vanilla creamer. It tastes wonderful, but as slow as I have to go it will probably be cold long before I finish the cup LOL. -
Maddie: You should be fine, I went to Mexico for my surgery and flew home 3 days later. Then had a 2hr shuttle ride. The only thing I really noticed was some pain if the road got bumpy. Just take it easy, because you will be tired. I would suggest powdered protein drinks so you do not have to haul bottles, just a shaker cup. I am sorry for your loss and hope that everything goes well for you. Jean

My insurance excludes weight loss surgery. I am two days out, got sleeved on Friday with Dr. Kelly. I am currently a the Hotel Lucerna - very nice - I spent thur night, surg fri, recovering sat - mostly sleeping and walking the hall. That said, if my insurance had covered it, I would have done it in the states. I have had a great experience with Trish and Dr Kelly, and my PCP is very supportive. jean
