Has anyone noticed an increase in leg cramps while loosing? I have been getting cramps nearly every night. They are in m lower leg but it's weird--they are in the front of my calf. Usually I have only gotten them in my calf. These in the front (well kinda the side) are soooo hard to get rid of. I have heard it could be due to lack of Water or potassium. I am ok on the water but could use more potassium. I will bring it up with my dr next week but I was jusy curious i anyone else experienced this. J Banded 9/22

Bromo--i feel exactly the same way you do regarding calories. I log everything on myfitnesspal and never hit my 1200 calories. It's not something I intentionally do buy I eat when I'm hungry, eat the portions I can and make good food choices. 1/2 c of food anf i'm full. I usually don't snack. I know that my body is only taking in such a small amount of food that I can't afford to fill it with crap. I do not feel deprived. I am not going to eat a peice of cake at every darn event I go to. And I don't feel deprived by it. I am trying not to worry about my low calories. I intend to resume my p90x workout once cleared by my dr so i know my appetite will increase. Right now I'm just walking. I am quite sure I won't be living in 600 calories daily forever so i try not to stress abouy it. J Banded 9/22 -

Ugh. So tired. Exactly 1 month post op. We went to an amusement park today. We prolly walked 3 miles lol. I didnt do any rides buy did enjoy the shows. I was the official babysitter so the grown ups could all go on yhe big rides. Haha We had a picnic. I had a sliming episode. I dont know if i was truly stuck or what. It was a raw baby carrot. First bite. Bam. Mid chest I felt pain. Slime started and i paniced. Sister in law was near me and she doesnt know i am banded. I was sitting on the ground so i decided to stand up. I walked for a bit and then told dh the carrot was stuck. I went to the car (we were having a picnic under a tree in the parking lot) with a paper towel and walked real slow so it would take longer. I slimed in the paper towel a little. After a few minutes I felt better. I went back to the group but was too scared to eat. The carrot went down. Soooo dont think I will be eating raw carrots anytime soon. I know i did chew well. I am certain that caused it. I just never expected to have this happen with no fill. Other than that the day was great. It was so much easier not lugging an extra 35 pounds with me! J Banded 9/22 -

We went out to eat tonight--mexican food. I have been out to eat a few times since being banded but this was the first time for mexican. I take that back, at work we did last week but i ordered scrambled eggs bc I was paranoid I'd get stuck. I didn't have any chips. Tonight I did but my entree came with them. I didnt eat a basket full with salsa like I did preband. I ordered the 'light plate' which consisted of one taco, guacamole and chips with queso drizzled over it. I didnt eat the shell of the taco. I ate the insides and the quac and several chips with queso. I gave DS the rest and he happily gobbled it up. Prebanding i was worried that i wouldnt eat normal or that someone would look at my plate amd be able to tell i had a band but i really dont think thats the case. I am starting to realize that life is changing but i can still be normal. I was paranoid about eating in front of people who dont know i am banded but i am learning that if i chew well and eat safe foods i am fine. J Banded 9/22 -
Agree with the foil. Makes clean up soooo much easier.

Lunch Ideas Needed After Lap Band Surgery ?
JinTx replied to JinTx's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Libby, yes!!! For sure. I told myself a long time ago that the first time i tried any bread product it would be at home--just in case. I would rather pb and slime in the comfort of my own home. Lol. Thanks! J -

Well weighed myself this morning. Down 1.4. Total loss 34 including preop. Went shopping yesterday and bought 2 new pants in smaller sizes. My clothes are sloppy baggy. I have been more hungry this morning and im pretty sure that its bc i ran out of milk and i usually use milk in my morning Protein shake. I am surprised at my weight loss this month bc it has been a crazy month. Ds is in baseball this fall and between games, practice and batting lessons its a 4 night a week ordeal. I have been making super good choices which i am proud of. I did have 2 crackers from ds' lunchable. Well 2 crackers with the meat and cheese. I track everything on myfitnesspal. I have been trying to stay under 1200 cal, 50 carbs and at least 60 g Protein. I acheive that nearly everyday. Some days i am a little short on the protein. I am so happy with my decision to do this. I am so glad that i am changing m life. I can actually sit with my legs crossed like a lady! Havent been able to do that in a long while. J Banded 9/22 -

Anyone feel like they are cheating?
JinTx replied to helen098's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope. Dont feel like im cheating at all. Not many ppl know about my band. Hey, i am doing what i need to do for myself. The only thing i felt guilty about was when i asked my dad to watch my kids for surgery but lied bc he didnt know about it. But ehhh, i got over it. Lol. J Banded 9/22 -
Waiting wasnt a bad thing. It got my head to where i needed it to be in order to do this. Good luck!! J Banded 9/22

Need2lose2--our ports sound like they are in the exact same place. I, too, was surprised by it. I thought it would be more to the side. My dr said he placed it where he did bc i didnt have a lot of fat on my side area near my ribs and he felt if he placed it there that it would show quickly. We will see. J Banded 9/22 -
6 lbs lost since start of preop diet last tuesday
JinTx replied to sheriah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was exactly the same. Totally excited til i got my date. Then i was nervous. When i did my preop stuff i was soooo nervous. I was parinoid i wouldnt wake up. In fact, when i woke up in recovery i said "oh thank god i woke up". The nurses got a good laugh. You will be fine. I just reminded myself of all the reasons i was doing this. J Banded 9/22 -

Average Time Before the 1st Fill
JinTx replied to pms's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery was 9/22. 1st fill scheduled for 10/31 however at this point I will not be getting one. I can still only eat between 1/4 to 1/2 c of food at one sitting and it keeps me full for several hours. J -
Go to the food/nutrition section of the boards. There is a whole thread dedicated to ww. J

Onmyway, did your dr give you a timeline on when to change to the next stage? Mine was liquids for 1 wk (2 if needed) then 1 week mushies then 1 week soft then the next week regular food. I didnt switch all my food when i advanced to the next stage. Example--i still did all liquids but added some greek yogurt one day. Then maybe the next added sf pudding. Just go slow and try new foods. You cant not advance bc you are afraid of a stall or gain. You are healing!! That should be your focus. I was weighing myself daily or everyother day and i decided once a week only!! Right now i am just focusing on making good food choices, eating when im hungry and walking. Oh btw--best mushy meal ever some ricotta cheese topped with marinara baked then sprinkled with mozz cheese. Oh my goodness. So good. Beats a cup of chicken broth any day!! J Banded 9/22

Sept 2011 bandsters
JinTx replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! I feel lucky! My appetite has returned but not much. For example today for bfast i had protein shake, lunch was 1/4 c Fat free refried beans and dinner was 1/4 c ricotta with 1/4 c marinara baked with a sprinkle of mozz but didnt finish it all. I did get hungry between bfast and lunch but 2 bites of greek yogurt and i was full. Maybe i am still swollen? Yesterday i made myself 1/2 servings and could not finish any of them. I do find myself struggling with head hunger in the evenings...wanting things like pudding or more beans but im not hungry just head hungry. J Banded 9/22 -

Hey everyone. Its been a little while since i've posted. My appetite has returned but it takes such a small amount to fill me up-usually a 1/4 cup. Last night i had FF refried beans with cheesw on top.....mmmmm it was perfect! Tonight im having this ricotta bake thing. Basically ricotta with marinara and mozz on top baked. The family is having spaghetti. I can now do soft foods so i will be progressing to things like scrambled eggs, cot cheese, canned fruit. Still have pain in my port. I am loving banded life and not regretting it one bit! J Banded 9/22
