    Fast Food For Bandsters!!!

    The kids meal from chick fil a is perfect for me. I got the grilled chicken nuggets and the portion is perfect. For the drink i got unsweet tea with no ice and save it for 1 hr after my meal.
  2. I think I may be the type of person that has to follow a structured eating plan. I know a lot of people get banded to stop dieting but I think the freedom to "eat what I want" is not working for me. I also think that may be why ww wasnt working for me -- eat anything you want as long as you count it. Sweets are my weakness. And when I eat one, I want more. Then the carb cycle starts. I think I may be one that has to have a list of foods you can eat and a list you can not eat. I guess I need the choice taken away for me lol. Does anyone else feel this way?
  3. Jachut, i am exactly the same. I can stop at salty or savory foods but when it comes to sweets its game over. I can go to mcds and order a small burger and be fine. But I swear that when i have a brownie or cookie it messes with my mind. I was banded 9/22. I began preop diet beginning of sept. I didnt have so much as a cookie crumb from sept til thanksgiving. And that was my plan -- i would save my swee tooth for grandmas pumpkin pie. And i did. Only my plan was to have 1/2 slice and be done. I had a whole slice plus some apple pie. I had passed on so many Desserts prior to this. But i still lost the week of tgiving. So i thought hey this is nice--i can eat my sweets and still loose. I have struggled with sweets since thanksgiving and the scale is reflecting that. I understand that we still need to live our lives, but i have a big family that had family dinners a lot. If i ate a sweet everytime it was offered i would be eating it at least once a week. Maybe i dont need so much of an eating plan as i do a calendar plan. Maybe i need to tell myself no sweets for 3 mos or whatever. And then eat one sweet and then set a date for a certain number of months later.
  4. I think i have hit a plateau. Weightloss this month has been minimal. How do you overcome a pleateau? My plan is to go back to the basics and amp up my exercise. I'd like to hear from some experiencex bandsters To see how they did it. J Banded 9/22
  5. So I noticed back in nov that my hair started falling out. I immediatly started Biotin and It improved. A couple of weeks ago it started again. Its bad. Globs of it just fall out. My DH says it looks thinner. It's disgusting. The other day i was in a meeting and someone noticed hair all over the place. I have never stopped the biotin. I take my multivit, Calcium, Iron and biotin. I understand that the main cause is Protein. However i eat a lot of protein--between 60-80 g per day. I have lost 53 pounds. I lost a lot of hair when i was pregnant so i dont know if im just weird or what. Also, something else i noticed is that when i go from a sitting to standing position too quickly i get dizzy--like a head rush. I used to Occasionally get these preband but these past 2 mos it happens all the time. Sometimes i have to stop walking and wait bc i am afraid i will fall. Kinda weird that this happened around the same time the hair started falling out. I will discuss with my dr in 2 wks but just wondered if this has happened to anyone else. J Banded 9/22
  6. I take 1000mcg of biotin plus my multivit has 150 mcg of Biotin in it.
  7. Prebanding I did p90x for about 3 wks. I did it consistently, worked out daily as suggested by the guide that came with the dvds. It really just got too time consuming. I think the key for me is not to just do one thing. I have access to a treadmill at home and can get a guest pass at my moms gym anytime i want. My question is--i want to incorporate p90x into my workout but i dont want to do it daily, but how often & which dvds should i do to still see results? On the days i dont do p90x i would so another form of exercise. Or would it be best to just do 12 wks of only p90x?
  8. Got stuck on raw carrot but I know it was bc I didnt chew well but now my brain wont let me eat them bc I am paranoid.
  9. So I have 2 kids...one who eats no gluten, dairy or eggs. He eats great....loves veggies, lean meats, salads, etc. Not bad for a 10 yr old. But part of it is that he CANT eat a lot of junk that other kids eat or he will physically get ill. Then there's my other son along with my DH.... They love junk food. Packaged Cookies, cakes, chips, candy. Meal times are fine. I cook a lean meat and veggies, they eat it. But its the snacks! Neither of them have a weight problem, however I believe no one, thin or over weight benefits from eating junk. I would like to transition my younger son to making more sensible choices, yet he is a child and I don't want him to feel deprived. An occasional treat is one thing, but consistently eating junk food is another. I am curious to hear from other bandster parents who have transitioned the entire family to a healthier way of eating. How'd you do it? Any tips? J
  10. I despise the month of december. Too much food everywhere, too many sweets everywhere, too many parties, not enough time for exercise. Sigh. I made the mistake of baking holiday Cookies to give out to people. Stupid stupid stupid. My kitchen is filled with cookies, brownies and fudge. I have eaten way too many. I will be lucky to maintain this month. Even though I hit my goal of 50 pounds by christmas I feel so guilty that I have been making poor choices these past couple of weeks. I feel like blah, which is no wonder...eat like crap=feel like crap. I am dreading going to the dr. I dont want him to be disappointed. J
  11. I am another fan of body fortress. Although I've never tried the vanilla, but the chocolate and the chocolate pb are goooood!
  12. 1 day liquids then 1 day mushies. I use one a day gummy vits (for adults).
  13. Yesterday my work had a holiday lunch -- theme was italian and I ate waaay too much. Way too much! I seriously should have stopped after appetizers. But I didnt and I have been regretting it ever since. I had probably nevet eat that large of an amount since being banded. The portion was much smaller than preband but nonetheless, too much for my band. I just got a 5 cc fil last monday (1st one). I began to really feel miserable about 30 min later. My side hurt, my back hurt. I couldnt drink for the rest of the afternoon. It felt like the Water would just sit in my chest. I didnt eat dinner last night bc i was too full. I slept fine last night...no reflux, no vommitting. Today i feel like crud still. My neck hurts, i have the chills, and again, no desire to eat bc i feel stuffed. Its hard to drink water. I did eat 2 oz of chicken at lunch today bc it had been 24 hrs since i ate. The food goes down fine, no pressure in my chest. I have felt nauseous off and on all day today. And my burbs....they are hideous.....they are like 2 minute long sqeeks...so gross. How long am i going to physically feel like this? Is this all from overeating or could i be getting sick? Chills, neck hurting...seems weird to come from over eating. I do not have a fever. I hope i didnt screw something up with my band. I am paranoid and mad at myself. It was so not worth it. J

    Am I Overeating?

    Looseitbeth, sounds like the 2 c of soup was too much therefore you have the "stuck" feeling. SAME thing happened to me when I was on liquids. I ate/drank too much soup and had this pressure type feeling in my lower chest. Told my dr about it & he said i ate too much. OP, while I understand that every person is different and our caloric needs differ as well, i agree with your dr. That seems like a lot of food to me. It would be too much for me. I usually do 2-3 oz of Protein and 1/4 c veggies. That satusfies me and keeps me thaf way for 4-5 hrs. J Banded 9/22
  15. Thanks for the replies. I woke up today an feel fine. I must havr had a bug but I def feel like some of it was due to when I overate. Funny how you read about things on this board but until it actually happens to you, you dont "get it."

  17. To clarify....i began to feel bad about 30 min after lunch yesterday....NOT after my fill. I have felt great ever since my fill. This all started yesterday. My fill was 9 days ago. J
  18. So i went thru my old medical records awhile back to see what my weight was after i had my first baby. I fluctuated between 155-160. I was a size 12 at that time. I am in a 14 now and 177. I told myself before i was banded that if i got to a 12 i'd be happy. I am 1 pant size away yet when i look in the mirrror i still see a size 20. I go shopping bc my clothes are too big, yet i still grab sizes that are too big. I am starting to wonder when my brain is going to realize what it really sees in the mirror?

    One Month Post Lap Band Surgery

    Between my surgery date and 1 month post op appt I lost about 10 pounds. I was just starting to eat regular foods. On my one month bandiversary we went to an amusement park and ate a raw carrot. I didnt chew well and slimed like crazy. I have not eaten a raw carrot since, even though i know my lack of chewing caused it. Lol. I was just starting to get my energy level back. J Banded 9/22
  20. Ok, sorry if this is TMI, but I have got to talk about it! My BMs after surgery hurt!!! Due to the smaller amount of veggies/fiber I am eating I think is causing me to have harder BMs. What should I take to help this problem? I drink lots of Water already. I can't live like this anymore! I dread going bc it hurts!! I have been dealing with it off and on for 2.5 months now. J Banded 9/22
  21. My biggest fear was that something would go wrong and I'd never wake up. Seriously. Anesthesia freaked me out. Obviously, that didnt happen. Here I am....51 pounds lighter. My 2nd biggest fear was that I wouldnt drop the weight. Obviously that fear has been put to rest too! J Banded 9/22

    Craving Salads???

    I eat salads quite a bit. I was afraid after my first 5cc fill they would be a no go for me. But i had one yesterday with no problems. I chewed well.

  24. I had hiatal hernia repair with my band. Surgery was thurs and i did not feel decent til wed however i stopped pain meds sat, started driving kids to school tues, back to work thurs. First week was awful. Hang in there! I have lost 50 pounds and dont regret my decision one bit!!
  25. Got my first fill. I somehow managed to drop nearly 10 pounds in nov. I have no idea how...i'm hungry a lot and some days I feel like I dont even have a band. The fill was pretty painless... As he's doing it he says he's putting in 5 ccs. I say seriously??!! Then he finishes while I am panicing...picturing myself pb'ing on my own salvia lol. He tells me his standard first fill is 4-6 ccs. Wow. Seems aggressive to me. Anyone else?? I am sitting here in the waiting room. Water is going down fine. Oh, and my saliva too. Lol. J
