Valentine's Day... What Will You Weigh???

well somewhere along the line I got dumped off the list (sob), but here goes anyway. C&P'd from page 2........ Plumptious..............95kgs ..............90kgs........85kgs.............5 kgs (11lb) I made it to 85kgs (by the skin of my teeth due to nectarine gluttony) and this morning I weigh 84kgs, and I was actually 96 kgs at the start, so 12kgs off (26.4lbs) My sleeve is due in 12 days, so the next challenge should (in theory) be a piece of cake *she says, optimistically* I'm off to join the Easter challenge

    March Role Call!!

March 1st for me - am getting excited now. My surgeon said that a week of Optifast pre-op will be plenty, as I've already taken off 10kgs and that has taken my BMI from 40.4 to 35.8 (only another 30kgs to go - sounds like nothing if you say it quickly . The trouble is I am such a piglet that yesterday when I tried starting the optifast regime early I only lasted until dinner time. I don't do hunger very well at all - I can see that pre-op will be a looooong week

    Gall Bladder

It's documented that rapid weight loss can cause gallstones so, seeing as I already have some non-bothersome gallstones, my surgeon is taking out my gallbladder while he's in there doing the sleeve. Saves problems further down the track (especially as I'm self-pay - about $20,000, ouch) Glad you came safely through the probelm - onward and downward!!

    Warning to new sleeves

I think that eating slowly and chewing everythiing into oblivion is going to be the hardest thing for me to learn post-sleeve. Have just had two eggs for Breakfast and realised that I barely chewed ........ no wonder it takes me ages to feel full. (4 weeks and 1 day until sleeve day)

    March 2011

March 1st for me ....... can't wait. I'm doing my best to lose some pre-op weight (10kgs off so far), but it's darn hard work fighting the hunger. Am already looking into some cosmetic surgery sites, as I'm shouting myself a tummy tuck when I get to goal. 10kgs down, 25-30kgs to go
  9. Are you eating cream cheese yet? If so, you could make a cheesecake with low-carb filling and just don't eat the crust. Hmmm - just re-read the comment above...... I bet cream cheese whipped up with sugar-free chocolate pudding would make a pretty damn acceptable chocolate cheesecake filling mmmmmmmmm

Will be sleeved in March 2011

March 1st here - hoping to lose another 3 or 4 kgs before then (have lost 9kgs already) and then onwards and downwards after the op.

    Ovo-Lacto Vegetarian?

I'm vego as well, but still awaiting my first appointment with the surgeon. Meanwhile I've been looking up Protein quantities etc and hope to get by with tofu, free range eggs, high protein shakes, cottage cheese and yoghurt/spirulina/chlorella smoothies. That should keep my protein and Iron in the adequate range, then I'll add beans/lentils as I progress and later add seeds and nuts. Or maybe I'm being overly optimisitc that it will be that easy....
  13. As we nurses know, there are worse things that patients can christen your clothes with, than mere puke Huge congratulations on your new look though!!!

    Sleeve date March 1st (hopefully)

  15. I can't believe your insurance company is going to drop WLS, when the benefits of reaching a healthy weight have been proven over and over again. Very short-sighted of them when you think what they could be paying out for the complications of diabetes over many years to come. Anyhoo...... best of luck for operation day - I'm sure you'll be bouncing around in no time, making those of us who are still waiting for the op extremely envious.

    3 month post op pictures

wow - looking good!!! It must make everything so much easier to do when you're not carrying around that extra weight - can't wait until I get to that stage. You go girl!!!!
  17. Well I heard from the nurse today and the surgeon has had an accident so has a few weeks off work..... that delays my initial consultation until January 13th - so 4 weeks from today instead of 5 days time. I've asked them to pencil me in for the first available operation slot after that, so if all goes well I'll be sleeved on March 1st. Apparently he likes his patients to do 2-3 weeks of Optifast immediately prior to surgery, so I've decided to replace 2 meals per day with Optifast meanwhile(the 3rd meal will be tofu and veges), and then onto replacing 3 meals as he requires it. Hopefully I'll can get another 10kgs off by operation day - here's hoping!!
