what will day 1 post op feel like?

I did not experience the gas pain so many talk about. 24 hours out I was ready to go home and get on with my new life. I was up going to the bathroom on my own. Walking the halls on my own. Sipping fluids and resting. That was about it. I didnt have a pain pump after the first night. I got my cath out first thing in the morning. So all I had was an iv and they gave me fluids here and there. I felt like I was recovering from a really bad flu. Kind of weak and sleepy but mostly just wanted to go home. You'll do great! Good luck on your journey. [quote name='pyt1908' timestamp='1307508258' post='161290 what will day 1 post op feel like?

    Celebrating Your Birthday Post VSG

Thanks Tiffykins for responding...I am very nervous about returning to old habits and so far I have not allowed myself to eat much outside my program restrictions. I know that I need to change the way I eat because I can't continue to lose forever. I told my husband the other day that I have to find that happy place where I can just eat and not stress about if the scale will go up the next day. Are you afraid of regaining weight? I am just very anxious that I will be one of those who lost the weight but then regain it later. I didnt work this hard to lose the weight for just a year or two. I want to stay this size for life. And in the past any time I lost weight I gained it back so maybe I am just going on what I've experienced in the past and I know that this time things are different but I cant wrap my head around it...Does any of that make sense? I appreciate your words of wisdom Tiffy more than you know. Blessings
  8. Today I turned 34! I am six months out and below goal. I completely avoid junk food (other than Pita chips) and that includes all sweets. So how do I Celebrate? What do you do special for your birthday POST SURGERY?

    PCOS and intermittent bleeding!

UGh!! that must frustrating. You might want to make an appointment with your general practice dr but I would say that your body is just trying to figure things out right now. I also have pcos and have experienced many changes since surgery. I too would skip for months and since surgery (6 months now) I have been dead on every month. My periods have been much heavier than before too. And I will have 3 days of heavy, then nothing for a day or two then a few days of light bleeding. When you are burning that excess fat that is stored your body releases estrogen too (it is in the fat stored). So you body is just trying to deal with the extra hormones. If it is bothersome for much longer go see your doctor. Good luck to you. Hope you get some answers.

    Just Starting Out! Questions... :)

Just curious; why does your program not allow them as part of the meal plan? I can't give you any advice on Protein powder, the program that I went through doesns't allow them as a part of the meal plan, so I've never used any.

    I am soooooo angry....

As everyone else has said...sorry you are in pain. Hope you feel better soon. I would just add that you need to just take one day at a time. Today take care of your back and eat right and get in your fluids. After your back has healed then that day you can work out again.
  17. As long as you are not responsible for taking care of some one else I think you will be fine on your own. I took pain meds until day 4 but I took care of myself during that time. I just slept a lot. I do agree you can not drive on pain meds!

    Gum

Yes , I was told never to chew gum again. I was also told to never use a straw again. That said my program gave us guidelines for all three WLS they preform. Maybe it was a bigger deal for a band or by pass patient.

    BEST protein drink EVER!!!!!!

Gonna try it next time I go to GNC....remember everyone if you dont like it GNC will take it back. I like the Gold Standard 100% Whey in Delicious Strawberry mix with skim milk it tastes like that nestle quik strawberry milk.

    10 weeks out with pics

Wow you are doing great! Congrats to you.
  22. My kids were 1,3 and 9 when I had surgery. My husband took the first week off and then went to work in the afternoons during the second week. I couldn't help my 1 year old out of her crib but I did everything else for her (we changed diapers on the floor and moved her high chair down so she could climb in her self). My 9 year old was a help but mainly just picking my youngest up. I think 2 weeks with Gma and Gpa will be fine. Maybe just get one of them to help you to the gate at the airport. I would make sure you have a light stroller that fold easily and that your youngest can climb in and out of. Or you could have the airline get a wheel chair for you. Put your 1 year old on your lap and that would help for you lay over. Hope everything goes smoothly!
