    70BMI pre-surgery 6 month report

I want to tell you that you have taken a lot of steps togive yourself a long healthy life. Good for you:) I know that this surgery isnot an instant fix to all the problems that we have that have gotten us to beobese in the first place. I just want to encourage you to take this opportunityto continue to eat with in your doctor’s recommendations and be more mind fullof eating only things that will nourish your body. I think it is so importantto eat healthy during the losing stage (when you will lose even if you makepoor choices) because that is only a stage and when you move past that stageyou need to have a new relationship with foods or you are at risk of regainingthe weight you lost. Besides, wasn't the goal of having surgery to make youhealthy and to avoid medical problems that we certainly face as obese people? Ihave read numerous posts from others who remind us that there is a honeymoonperiod and once it is over it is much harder to lose this weight. I have afriend who had a different wls but she lost about 75% of her excess weight inthe 10 months after surgery but then got pregnant. After the birth of her babyshe has struggled to lose just a few pounds. She keeps telling me that it is somuch easier to lose the weight with in the first year after surgery. While you have lost a great amount of weight and you should be really proud ofyourself...I can't help but wonder how much more you may have lost if you hadn’tsidelined your diet a bit. Please don’t see this as a negative post, I do not meanit that way I just really want to encourage you that you can make gooddecisions and you can lose all of your excess weight but it is going to takesome more work on your part. Good luck to you...thanks for being honest and sharing your journey with us. Iam sure it will help others.

    Hello Everyone!

I think you are going to do a great job! You have a great attitude about getting down to buisness after you are sleeved. That will carry you all the way to your goal or maybe even beyond!
  4. Went to bed last night and realized how little I ate during the day. Gonna stay on top of my intake today...cant be good to get less than 400 calories at 7 months out.

Help - ??s on Sleeve "Rules"

Like people already said in the beginning I cut my food into tiny pieces and chewed until it was nothing at all. Now almost 7 months out I cut my food into regular bites but I still cut it up. For instance, one of my favs are turkey meatballs. While normal people would just take a bite off the meatball I still cut mine up. If I dont I tend to take a bite that is too big. No it doesnt get stuck. It just hurts when it hits my sleeve. I know this sounds weird but I feel foods and liquids hit my sleeve. My program introduces oatmeal in the mushy stage and we are told to make it runny. I follow the drink "rule" closely. 30 minutes before I eat I stop drinking and wait 30 minutes after eating. I have to set a timer on my phone to remind me to drink and eat but if I dont if I lose track of time and take a drink to soon or eat too soon then it hurts. Others from my support group said they ditched the rule or moved it up to 15 minutes but it hurts when I do it so I guess that is for LIFE for me. I had an "unhealthy" relationship with carbs so I am very very carefully but my NUT is insisting that I start adding them back now that I am at goal. I had one piece of pizza (thin crust veggie from papa johns). It was only a small square of pizza. It didnt hurt it just made me feel full really fast. So I think in the end, your research on the band will help you. At goal I do not think I eat like a "normal skinny person" but it is my normal now and it doesnt feel like a diet. Good luck to you.

    Please Help

That menu wouldnt reach my protein goals are you getting at least 70 grams of protein a day? That looks close to what I ate but add a protein shake or two.
  21. I went to Legoland at about 4 weeks out...didnt ride to many rides but walked like 4-5 miles. I think I would have felt up to riding rides but I just hung out with baby girl. I think you will be fine to ride rides. Take good care of your self in the begining and follow ALL of the Dr's orders.
  22. 1 pound away from 100 pounds lost! almost 7 months out.

  23. Just wanted to let you know I am saying a prayer for you. I saw your surgery is tomorrow and I am asking the Great Physician to be there with you. Can't wait to hear from you after you are back on your feet. Remember walk as soon as you can (especially if you don't feel like it) and sip, sip, sip.~blessings Annette

    Surgery alone

I believe it is because they need some one there to make decisions for you while you are unable to make them for yourself.
