  3. At about 4 weeks I started to get sick to my stomach every afternoon...I didnt want to eat...the thought of food made me want to vomit. It turns out it was acid reflux...I began to have a choking feeling at night. I would wake up suddenly and have to sick up or even stand for a while. The doc changed my meds and I was good to go...I wonder if you are experiencing to much acid? Are you on a ppi? I took prilosec before this happened and now I take nexium. Let un know what you find out.

I Went To The Er This Morning ...

Well dying to know how your night went...I had the stomach flu about 1 year out and it was HORRIBLE!!! I had my husband use the snow cone machine and I ate ice like crazy. It was wonderful. Watermelon was my first fruit too. It was super yummmmmmy. Still my favorite. At 1 year out it is one of only a few fruits I will eat FYI cantelope was 2nd.
  7. I was instructed to stay around 600 calories a day until I hit goal...but most days I was a around 400 and that was only after I got to mushies. That said if your nutritionist told you to hit 1100 then you should contact them and see what they suggest. For me it was 70 grams of protein, no more than 30 carbs 600 calories. Good luck to you.
  8. I began making my protein with milk once I hit goal. But i did eat cottage cheese, cheese, cream cheese, yogurt, pudding at the mushie stage. I used mayo to mix my tuna and chicken salad. I used to have an allergy to milk so I expected to have problems post op but I do not and now I drink a protein shake a day and I use milk everytime. I am glad that things have gone well for you. It sounds like you know all the right things to do...good luck on your journey...cant wait to read your posts inthe future.

    Scared About Life After Surgery

I had dreams before and after surgery that I would eat or drink (soda) something that I shouldnt. I think it was because I was so careful not to fall into a trap by trying those unhealthy foods and drinks again that I thought about them all the time. A couple of times while cooking for my family I tasted something and immediatly spit it out...It was just a habit for so long...I dont have trouble any more. I have three children too. A little older than yours. They were 9, 3, and 18 months when I had surgery. My husband stayed with us 24/7 the first week and the second week he went back to work only in the afternoon after the two little ones went down for a nap. My 9 year old came home from school in time to help me when they woke up and the really the only thing I couldnt do was pick my daughter up out of her crib, we changed diapers on the floor and it was no biggy. My kids have always offered to share their goodies with me and I just tell them no thanks that would hurt my tummy. They always serve protein when they play resturant now:)
  14. I take 3 viactiv plus D everyday. I also take a flinstone in the am and pm and my numbers have been perfect since surgery. My advice for protein is GNC's 100% Whey Gold Standard I like the delicious strawberry and the cookies and cream...but I suggest that you shop some place that allows you to return what you dont like. Protein is not cheap so if you drop $30 on it you should like it or return it. GNC allows you to return anything you dont like. They have great deals online and they send me coupons almost weekly. You dont even have to print them just show it to them on your smart phone when you check out.

    Holy Heartburn!

I only had heart burn an handful of times in my life (while prego). I do not have a hernia and didnt have one repaired during surgery...nonetheless, now I have acid reflux. Prilosec didnt work for me (i was sent home with it for first 4 weeks). I now take nexium 2xs a day. The feeling of choking would wake me up at night I had to sit up and wait for it to pass...horrible feeling. I agree you should ask for a script!
  16. It wasnt as hard as I thought it would be. I just kept reminding myself. After surgery I didnt want to put anything in my mouth, I wasnt hungry or thirsty. But I just kept reminding myself to sip, sip, sip and I did it. I used the timer on my phone to teach myself 30 mins before eating stop drinking and 30 minutes after eating. It took some relearning, some times I was counting down the minutes so i could sip something but usually I would get busy doing something and before I knew it was time to drink. Smart phones sure are handy things and always with me:) Hope that helps...

    New To Gastric Sleeve

Do you have a nutritionist? I was given a sample menu for week 4-6 that had things like, cream of wheat, oatmeal, maltomeal, cottage cheese, apple sauce, refried Beans, shredded cheddar cheese, sugar free yogurt, sugar free Gelatin, navy beans, pureed fruit, mashed potatoes, pureed chicken, pureed turkey, pureed sweet potatoes, and pureed green beans, puredd cooked carrots and sugar free puddings. By week 6 I was really sick of these foods but then I got to move up to the next menu. You really need to push the Water. I used the timer on my phone and set it the minute I ate...when it went off 30 min. later I start drinking. Sip all day long...I felt dizy a lot the first few months until I was able to start drinking 64 ounces a day. It takes work to get to that amount. I still have to work at everyday but I feel so much better when I do... Lots of people have talked about stalls...are you staying with in the guidelines with Protein, calories and carbs? If so then you will lose. I know you will see the loss. It took a while for me too. But the day I saw it was a great day and it is still getting used to the new me and I have been there for months now. I can't help you any with blood sugar issues sorry no experience...feel free to ask me any other questions.

    Constipation

I was sent home from hospital with Milk of Mag...works but I would have this terrible gurgling and then explosive visits to the bathroom so I asked if I could us mirlax instead and it worked and was was more gentle. Things got better at around 4 months...Havent need to take anything since then. Hang in there it will get better.

    Photo Update

Ok...so I saw the difference in every single picture but the last one....WHOLEY MOLEY!!! You are looking great!
  23. Oh my this must be extremely disappointing! I can't imagine how I would feel in your shoes. Althought I have never heard of seeing a endocrinologiest my opinion is do what ever it takes. I hope some other speak up and give your advice. I am curious about your original diet (not the new one with 6 tortillas and an avocado). I would like to see if your initial diet was close to mine. Right out of surgery my goals were 70 grams of protein, 30 grams of carbs, less than 5 grams of fat per serving, 300-400 calories a day. I did up that around 4 months to 600 calories and then until I hit goal I tried to work in those daily amounts. Please keep posting...I am concerned for you.

    The Dandruff Are Gone!

I lost 20 plus pound during pre-op and by the time I had surgery my periods were regular and they have come every single month since. Less facial hair even taking a supplement for my hair loss. Started to really notice a difference around 5 months. I havent heard of the dandruff either but I wouldnt be surprised....I consider myself cured of PCOS...a wonderful benifit of the sleeve.
