  1. I have a really hard time with chicken... unless its really moist - it must have sauce or gravy otherwise it gets stuck and come back up.
  2. My surgery was done 4 hours from home.... The ride was fine though I was pretty sore afterwards. All the vibrations and bumps get to you after a while. We made sure to stop every hour and I walked for a bit.
  3. We'll I'll be eight weeks out this coming Wednesday and I've lost 50lbs. My clothes are hanging so I've been sewing what I can but ended up running out to Target to see if they had anything... Tried on a bunch of stuff from the plus section but ended up taking home some XXL's from the regular section. Loving life!
  4. I'm struggling with this too! I'm finding that all the advice to not eat while doing anything else just doesn't work for me and back fires most of the time. If I eat while reading or something I seem to do it much slower and have less issues.

    My Life Still Sucks

On top of all the great suggestions from everyone above I wanted to toss in there: Find a support group! Lots of folks have gone through what you are struggling with. Get help and support from them too! Hope you feel better soon!
  6. I had sex by two weeks out... we were careful to be sure... but even that seemed like forever. I'm 5 weeks out today and I'm able to sleep any which way.... Using a big pillow against my tummy I was able to side sleep about two weeks out.

how long were you off work?

I went back on day 12 with no issues.
  8. I am 4 weeks out today. I've lost 40lbs. In my two week preop I had two periods. In the 4 weeks post op I've had three! (In the past year, prior to preop diet I had one bleeding cycle.) I think that until we get to a maintenance stage its going to be hard to predict our cycles. I would not consider BC - with PCOS our hormones are already out of balance. Brute forcing your cycles with more hormones just seems like a bad idea not to mention all the risks associated with them but its a very personal decision. What is right for me might not be right for someone else. It seems like you've already chosen the best treatment possible for PCOS. Give it time and let it work. Make sure you educate yourself diet-wise. Again VSG is the best possible treatment for PCOS but I think as cysters we need to be even more aware of the role diet and insulin resistance plays in our health.

    DC area sleevers

I will meet up! I'm in Bowie. Weeknights or weekends work for me!
  10. Up until this point everything has been pretty great. Then last week (two weeks and one day post op) I had to put my dog to sleep. Then I had to drive 4 hours to see my surgeon for my post op two week visit and 4 hours back home. By Sunday my stress level was through the roof and bam got hit with a nasty migraine which included lots and lots of vomiting. The next day I had a follow up migraine and more vomiting. On top of all of this I'm on my third period in three weeks, this one seems to be bound and determine to leave me completely bloodless. So I'm very very shaky, dizzy and some what sick to my stomach. Trying to get in fluids and some Protein. When it rains it pours?
  11. So I thought I had found a Vitamin I could live with pre-op... post op they just come right back up. These are the Celebrate multi (pineapple something). When can we take capsules? Anyone have any other recommendations for Vitamins? I know folks do the vitamin drinks but I'm already struggling with my Protein shakes (thank god for mushies!) Thanks (PS. I tried search and looking in the vitamin section but didn't see much to recommend.)

    One Month Since Surgery

I'm just over two weeks out and had one scrambled egg with a bit of milk.... totally stuffed! Love it.... I feel no hunger (though I do sometimes miss the taste of things.) My knees already feel better, my back has been feeling better. My energy level has been great. Hoping this all continues.

    Tom turned to Tow

I'm having the same issue.... weight loss + surgery = hormone craziness.

    Sleeping on Stomach

I'm a stomach sleeper and having the same issue. I'm two weeks and one day post op and I'm just now able to sleep for a little bit on my side. I think everyone is different but I have too much saggy belly fat to roll around without sharp pulling.

The best NSV thus far ! ! !

I'm just a week post op and hormonal but I just cried happy tears for you!!!! That is so fantastic. I was very very lucky to have two lovely healthy girls before starting my WLS journey but I know the troubles and stress of trying to conceive etc. Best best wishes!!!
  18. We went to CVS and the pharmacist mixed some adult liquid tylenol for me. It tastes just as bad as the loritab but doesn't knock my on my butt! Plus you only have to take about 5ml (instead of 15ml of loritab)
  19. I was told to aim for 64oz of zero calorie (no carbonation) fluids and three Protein shakes a day. It took a week but now I'm able to take that in with no issues.

    TMI shaving before surgery?

I didn't care.... and I followed the preop instructions which were to shower the night before, no shaving, no lotions, no powders (!).
  21. I have PCOS so my experience might be different... but prior to the preop diet its been months since I had a period. I've never been regular and have often gone 6-9 months without a period many times before. About 4 days into the preop diet my period started and lasted until the day before the surgery. Now post op I've been spotting here and there for a week. I won't complain (see above). And I know its hormone city for my body right now.

    Thirsty?

I'm a little over a week post op. Like you, I was/am a drinker. Most days I had more than 64 oz of water easy. The first few days where uncomfortable with gas but now I'm having zero problem drinking. I was worried about gulping being a problem but either I gulp less than I thought or its just not an issue today.

    VSG compared to C-Section

My two c-sections where much much harder!

    I wanna BARF

I feel just about the same way so each day Ive been having a little bit of V8. You can put some protein powder in it too. It's been a lifesaver.
  25. I'm day 6 too! My saving grace has been some V8 juice. Salty! I can only handle about 2oz at a time but it really helps when I'm craving the taste of things.
