  1. girly, are you anxious? not meaning to be overtly bold but i am an anxiety gal and those are some classic anxiety symptoms. i don't remember having shortness of breath other than just after surgery when i was ensuring the lungs were all functional. also if you are in pain that will increase your heart rate and give you shortness of breath. perhaps while resting, watching tv, etc. you can "practice" some slow, steady, deep breaths. i hope it gets better, and am sure it will! helpplease need advice

my whole abdomen was LOUD for a week after surgery. however, nothing really happened in the diarrhea department until day 8 post-op. guess I was a little backed up. just try to stay on top of your pain in general, taking a reliever every 4-6 hrs and sip slowly. better safe than sorry! good luck and i hope you feel better!

    Hi Everyone!

Hi Lynnette, Nice to see a fellow Michigander! (However, I'm in GA for the time being!) I'm from the UP and make it back during the summers. Good luck with your surgery, I'm 6+wks out and all is well. Down nearly 50lbs so I'd say the sleeve is doing it's job! Take care, Melisa

    Need goals

what about a 5k? i tried the couch to 5k program but still wound up walking it since it was pre-op and i was at my heaviest. i've only walked one but even then it was fun, i did it with a friend. or try something new? at my gym there is a class called total strength and i'm excited to try it... i think i will definitely do a 5k again. that seems achievable. and i'll check out that thread about the goals... good luck you've done so well!

    Not enjoying food!!

samsonslady, i am having the same issue! eating is a bit of a chore. one thing i started 3 days ago is tracking each thing i put in my mouth. this gave me a bit of a clearer picture of what i was doing. alas, i have such an issue choosing something to eat. nothing is appetizing. and another thing... this not feeling hunger thing i'm not so sure... i feel hunger and i've been playing particular attention and it would make sense when i've got "the feeling" that it truly is hunger. don't get me wrong, sometimes i have a craving but it's not to be confused with real hunger. i can't seem to do the Protein shakes/powders etc. have you had luck with them? i have noticed my rate of loss increases as my protein increases. unfortunately it seems i have to eat all my protein and can't drink any... so, you aren't alone! good luck

    Swimming is key for me

how wonderful! You are doing so well and I have to say it is very encouraging! Our community pool opens in just two weeks and am thinking of taking lessons (lost my skills) and trying to accomplish some laps. What are your thoughts on how swimming has effected excess skin? I've not researched enough about which activities will be most beneficial to the excess skin issue! Enjoy swimming and keep on your wonderful progress!

    Sleeved on 4/28

congrats on your sleeve! one thing you may want to do is experiment with the temperatures of your liquid... some have better luck with room temp at first (i did) and warm as well such as chamomile or other non-caff tea. About 5-6 days out I preferred ice cold anything. It does feel daunting getting all the liquid to fit in but give it time and it will! It did take me a little while to be able to get near the recommended amount of liquid. I hope you are doing well otherwise!

    Date changed

coach, the liquids were not that bad, really. you will always go back to liquids throughout your journey. i've had to to get the nourishment in. my suggestion is to be sure you try everything within the "liquid" parameters (try like crazy to stick to the rules, they are in place to aid in preventing leaks, complications, etc.), your tastes and preferences will change since all you'll be drinking are liquids so be sure to keep a variety on hand. good luck and like you said it really is only a couple weeks! Melisa
