    March 2010 Sleevers

4wks today! I'm going to do some photos to compare... yay!
  2. Tiffykins,

I am wondering what types of physical activity you incorporated into your journey? I find your journey very inspiring and need a little motivation picking my poison. I'd love to get down to around 145 and am just now starting to ramp up the activity. I noticed you are quite a bit below your goal, did you just want to go further or are you having issues losing too much weight?

Other than the surgery we also have serving husbands in common. My husband is Army and I had my surgery at a Eisenhower AMC in Augusta, GA. I know how fortunate I am for our great medical coverage!

  3. I was a hard Diet Coke addict as well. On my own I could easily polish off 6-12 diet cokes a day! I quit the night before surgery and dare say I took a small drink of one about a week ago... horrid, acrid pain! All contents of my sleeve were upchucked due to the carbonation. It's not the same. I miss it. The caffeine didn't affect me when I stopped, no headaches, nothing! It helped that I didn't want to drink much of anything post surgery. In theory I should've weaned a bit better but on the other hand, I have to say the way I did it worked fine.

    Woohooo... losing again!

congratulations! I think the expectation is there, although we try to be "real" about it, that we will lose quickly. I've lost a lot in the three weeks post-op but am definitely slowing down. I thought I was prepared to slow down since I know that's the best for my body any way, but the disappointment was surely there when I hop on the scale and the numbers are moving in half pounds or less rather than multiple pounds. I love being able to see the range of the experiences, thanks for sharing Lee!

    March 2010 Sleevers

I think we're all doing fabulously! I have to say that I didn't really do much in the way of puree/mush. Other than mashed potatoes and perhaps soup, I couldn't go there. I had a pierogi (only the innards, skipped the pasta case) with bacon, onion and a touch of sour cream for dinner. Yum! I used to sock away 5-8 of them with loads of bacon and loads of sour cream. It was nice to have flavor again!

    March 2010 Sleevers

Just had a post-op with my surgeon and I was cleared for all foods and all exercise/weight bearing activity. With 4 kids at home I leveled with her and told her that I was lifting the 1yo 4 days post-op, so she asked me if I was hurting at all... So, life as usual in our house now, too bad my husband was there with me and heard it for himself as it would be nice to ride the gravy train for a while! I'm still having issues with what is a proper amount to eat and what is too much. When I have too much I experience this up/down/up/down/upppp/doowwwnn feeling. Then after 15 minutes it's gone. So I'm trying to pay more attention to how much I portion out. Right now I'm at about 1 Tablespoon then take a break. Fluids are going down nicely, however and for that I am thankful. Anyone on to an amazing food discovery that is soft?

    March 2010 Sleevers

Hello all, wondering how all the March sleevers are doing? I had surgery on March 16 and am down 30lbs. I am having some issues with eating but have to say it's more because I am picky. Melisa

    Sleeve day!

no, it was definitely the liquid itself. just seemed like a shock when i tried to take the tiniest sip and it was cold. i did much better with the chicken broth. i'm on day two post op and feeling quite a bit better. i can drink any sort of temp. liquids now so it's been great.

    Sleeve day!

day after... little uncomfy but doable. Having a hard time with temperature of liquids, which I was surprised about. The area of the drain is most tender!

    telling family (kids) about surgery

I am so happy this topic was brought up, thanks! I have a 10, 5, 4 and 1 yr. old so this has been very helpful!
  17. I hope everything went ok! Did you go to Trinity or EAMC? I'm going in 3/16 with Dr. Husain. Feel better soon!

    pre op diet question HELP:(

Haha, I agree... Our Mothers/teachers/anyone who wanted to torture us as kids told us all the falsehood that gum "sticks" around forever! Tiffykins is right, whatever the stomach doesn't break down heads on out! You poor thing, it does sound like you are really anxious. I can't blame you for that as I am, too! Good luck... do you think you may be having some indigestion? That feeling of something stuck could be indigestion, reflux, anything really. A little pepto could work.

    Let's chat

I figured it out...the error was fully on my part!

    I have a date!

I don't have a preop diet other than protein loading, I guess. What sorts of preop diets do folks usually follow? My Aunt has been here for two months to help for my post op care. So, it's a relief to finally have a date to focus on and now I can prep the kids!
