    Food Addiction

Hi All I was reading the posts today and found it so interesting. Before I had the surgery I was a memeber of food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous (http://www.foodaddicts.org/). It was a support group that follows the same principles of AA but it deals with food. I lost 80lbs following their program and learned a lot about my own addiction with food. It is a wonderful group that started in the US and is growing my leaps and bounds in Canada and aroun the world. Although the program as too strict for me (basically I am weak and why I now have the band) I know it really is a life saver for a lot of people. There is a lot of recovery there and a very strong support sustem. It s very different from OA and there are some other versions of this program out there, but this one is really good. I think if I had not been a part of this group I would not be having the success I am having with the band. Their web site is pretty plain, but the stories are great, so check it out. It might be the right thing to add to you band??? From a fellow Food Addict Sally

I did ok for Feb and still have a few days left to catch up. I have been on-site at an event for a week and a half, so hotel food is not helping me loosing at all. So I will be realistic and set my March goals to be: 1. go to the gym 3 times a week 2. loose 8 pounds 3. drink 1 litre of water a day

    Is this a problem?

Hi Yasmina Wow hard to believe it will be 2 weeks tomorrow! No not feeling any pain at all now and actually went to the gym last night too. I just did some speed walking on the tredmill. But a few days after surgery I was out walking around. I might have been out sooner if it haden't been so cold out. I was back to work the 4 days after surgery, so like you I went in on a Friday and was back on Tuesday. Each day post-op is much better and it really is a huge difference. I was just unlucky with the gas pain. I won't be on the tennis court for a couple more weeks. Mainly because I am not consuming enough calories to play. But I figured a little treadmill could not hurt. Already I see a huge difference and I am already down a size in my pants and everything else that I was sqeezing into fits really well now. And that is just in 2 weeks! Good luck tomorrow! you are going to do awsome! Let me know how you do Cheers Champagne Sally

    Dr. Huacuz in Mexico?

That is really good. It is double that in Canada and I have a friend who wants to do it, but doesn't have all the funds. So I am going to tell her to look into Mexico... Thanks and good luck! Sally

    Is this a problem?

Hi Yasmina You and I are at the same starting weight and Blownaway and I have been chatting a lot since we got banded a day apart from one another. And I know someone else on here too, Tres Chic, who is going in tomorrow to be done. Anyway, I thought I would respond as well. I had a bit of a rough go of it, but honestly, have come through just fine. I know that Blownaway has had a much better time of it. So it really does depend on the person and I think it is just the luck of the draw. I was walking around Shoppers Drug Mart on my way home from and was up and walking around no problem. I was sore and stiff and felt a bit weird, but had friends over to watch movies the next night! I was on the coach with a big blanket, but totally up for company. As far as food goes, I took it pretty slow and followed just what they recommended. I did not have any problems and am just now starting to get to know the feeling of the band. But, don't think I really will until I am on solids. Now, I had really bad gas pains for a week after in my shoulders. I took a ton of Gas-x and then ended up taking a liquid ant-acid as well to help. I would recommend getting some liquid tylenol as crushing pills was not that much fun. I am now still on Full Fluids and am only weighing myself once a week, but feel great and am off to the gym tonight!!! So good luck on Friday and please keep in touch!!! Cheers Sally

    Is this a problem?

Hi there I actually did have a fever the day of surgery and I was fine. The week before I had a lymph nod that was behind my appendix that was inflamed and they almost took out my appendix!!! Anyway, they went ahead with the surgery anyway which was on Jan. 19th. But, at the fist sign of a cold I take cold-fx for a couple of days and I am cold free. So if you sneeze again run out and get some. Hey and DB I am in the same boat as you. Can't wait for some solid food!!!! Cheers Sally

    Canadian- February 2007 Goals

Hi There This is my first goals so I am not sure really where to set them, but here goes. I would like to loose 10 pounds by the end of February. I will have just come off post-op diet and had my frist fill during the month, so I hope it is realistic. I also would like to be back at the gym three times a week and have started to play tennis again. Big goals, but I think now that I have put them in writing I am committed!!!

4 day post op 20 mins then chest pain

Hey Donna I have the same thing as you. terrible gas pains. And the gas x stips are really helping a lot. I am sort of like you, I was dreaming of cheese last night, but alas, I just had some broth. Popsicles are a great help too. I am back to work today too -Day 4 and feel pretty good. I needed to get moving to get the gas going too. Call me if you get a chance tonight! Sally
