frustrated with inconsistent weight loss... anyone else?
coops replied to coops's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hey Donna, pants innit... horrible feeling but i suppose it is part and parcel of it... i did try shaking things up a little and it didn't really make a huge difference, still i suppose as long as it doesn't go up too much, remember that we retain water on a daily basis... still frustrating. Patience has never been my strongest characteristic... x -

coops replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hey Diva, I am defo coming with you to onderland... it is gonna be a hell of a ride, so hold on to your hat lady, we're coming through...lol! x -
Hey, Great question.... I long to wear a dress that is fitted with a pair of sexy shoes that I can actually walk in!! I think the colour would have to be red! The other thing I long to look good in is a nice pair of jeans, complimented with a vest top... yes showing my arms... oh how I dream ...lol

Hiya, I too paid for my sleeve and although it will leave us a little tight each month, it is worth it already and I am only 8 weeks out... Hang on in there and go for it, it will be worth it!! Good luck for the 1st!
-
Nikki, thanks for answering my questions... I've been dreading the batwing thing... I don't go to a gym and can't really afford it, but I would buy free weights at home to use. Would you say that lower weights and higher reps is the way to get good results... another thing ... how heavy are you free weights? I was told to use 2lb ones and do a lot of reps... any advise as you are looking amazing!! thanks

Hiya Mary... just read your post on your monthly weigh... wow!! Good for you for holding out and good for you on your weight loss.
I noticed you said you were two months and 6 days post op? What date did you get your sleeve? I think we are close, my op was 3rd July!

Well Done Christie... you are doing us proud!! x

Hey, that is an amazing result for you and an inspiration for a relative newbie! Although, my scales isn't moving rapidly (slow but steady wins the race is my new mantra; along with little acorns turn into big oak trees!!) I too had a recent NSV! Many years ago I bought a pair of sizee 20 (UK) jeans from the petite section - well I am only 5' 2" - and since that day I have never worn them out... in fact they did not do up at the button, and I kept them with the old saying 'one day they'll fit'! That day has arrived...YEY!! I can not only do them up, but they are comfortable and I can defo wear them in public... I am sooooo chuffed with myself it is unreal. I also had to recyle two pairs of jeans that were way to big and my 'snug' jeans are now loose... Doesn't it feel great!! I also know what you mean about the self confidence thing... I have a small group of friends that I share all my success with, weight, clothes, food, moods etc... but I recently went to work (not been there since my op due to it being out summer hols) and I purposely work the biggest hoodie I had to cover up... strange isn't it? Perhaps it is because I haven't told them about my sleeve, or that I don't want my weight to be the focus of my work... Dunno... gonna have to suss that one out myself!! Lets hope that this milestone continue 'til goal!

Hey... I my op was 3rd July (anyone with the same date?) and although I am really happy with my 26lb weight loss, I have 'only' lost 2lb in the last for weeks and I am getting a little OCD about it all...! I'm following the three meals a day style programme with 100g of protein, vits and plenty of water... I also exercise 3-4 times a week at this stage. I know stalls are really common and I don't expect the weight to melt off but I do expect a little loss each week, I resigned to being a slow loser and that is fine as long as I lose... Was wondering if anyone else who is also at my stage is in the same boat and if anyone has any handy hints or tips for me... Cheers in advance,

Dear 3 Week Stall.... I am not amused!
coops replied to a.walker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey all.... I am feeling the stall thing ... like you I stalled from three weeks to the beginning of 6 weeks and this week I lost two, but that is all! Following the same pattern too: proetein first, three meals a day, Vitamins, lots of Water and I've started regular exercise! I know that this will work, I just wish it was working faster as I am being impatient!! I think I am going to be a 'slow loser'. I am working on the 'head' thing now... ie being positive about the weight that I have already lost and enjoying wearing clothes that didn't fit me 7 weeks ago! This site is brilliant for support and kind words that have kept me more that sane for the last 4 weeks!!! -
Why no drinking while eating?
coops replied to Ihave6kids's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Hiya Julie... I read a similar article, sorry don't have a link but from but from what I can remember the main reason given was to stay full longer. The example they gave was a sink... if you pour water down a since it just simply runs through... if you put mushed (chewed) food down a drain it will just sit there... then, if you add water the mush will go down quicker! So, I think that what it was trying to say is to stay fuller longer, don't drink and let the food slowly empty out of the tiny tummy... Does that make sense? -
Hey all... I'm July too... got sleeved on the 3rd and now 7 weeks post op... glad I had it done and doing well (I think!). I am doing well with the food side of things, the only problem is my head... trying to accept that this will work and that I WILL lose the weight that I have dreamed of loosing since I was in my early twenties... does anyone else feel the same at this stage of their weight loss? Cheers

Well Done Jane... amazing... so, how does goal feel knowing that this is where you will stay forever... x x

coops replied to FreeToBeMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hiya Freetobeme... keep going and stay positive... send those naughty negative vibes away... just think about what you have done! You've already lost a 'mimi you!! and in just 6 months... that is amazing. Remember to take measurements 'cos you could be losing inches?! take care c -
How much were you exercising at 4 wks out?
coops replied to Globetrotter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Globetrotter... I was in a very similar position to you, I am now 6 weeks post op, and from weeks 3 until two days ago I didn't loose an ounce! It is frustrating and I too had doubts. Now the scales have moved a little and I have upped my exercise. At four weeks I felt like poo... I did a little walking but nothing much! This is a great site and you will read plenty of others who have had the same experience... all I can do is to agree with them; be patient and let you body heal, eat protien first and watch your carbs and drink plenty of water. I think I am going to be a 'slow' loser, but as long as I lose and not gain I don't care!! Let us know how you get on... take care x -
63 lbs. lost at 5 months
coops replied to Can.sleeved's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks for this post Russ, it seems like I am going to be a slow loser so your words cheered me up no end... I agree, that to lose it, either slowly or quicky, and for it to stay off is the main aim of the game here. I feel that the sleeve is a commitment for life and that we have to make it work for us! Coops =] -
the scale is not moving AGAIN
coops replied to Mommyof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey... I ma feeling your pain... I too haven't lost an ounce for the best part of 4 weeks, I am 6 weeks out today!! I agree it is frustrating, but the wise words posted here are good and true. I took measurements a couple of days ago!! I have lowered my carbs and starting to do more exercise so fingers crossed I will see some more movement soon. However, in saying that... my clothes are feeling looser and that is really encouraging. Mommyof4 how much have youlost to date... perhaps focus on that instead of looking at what you haven't done... just an idea?? Let us know how you get on as I am sure things wil get better... for both of us x -
Hey, I told my family, a few (well chosen friends) and only two people in work... my work mates know I had an op, but I told them it was a tummy op... when I go back to work (we are curerently in the middle of our summer hols here; I am a teacher) they will see a difference when I eat, no more bread and pasta etc. My doc just told me to say, 'Oh, I am on a diet'... I really don't want to discuss this with them as they don't see me as 'big'... they just see me as daft Coops...lol

coops replied to Merryx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hiya, I too am at a stall... it is nearly three weeks now and really frustrating as I am only 5weeks post op... any advice??? Cheers, Coops x -
Hey, This is interesting 'cos I have been stuck at the same weight for nearly 3 weeks and I am only 5 weeks post op... I do 'feel' smaller if that makes sense... Any advice on how to reboot my weight loss would be gratefully received though... Cheers Coops x
