  1. I defo agree with this... last week I lost a pound... ok not great, but not a stall or a gain, so that is good... but... I measured and lost 3 inches!!! That felt good! I also take a photo every two weeks... there is definately a difference there too! I have upped the excercise this week, so I am hoping for my 'offical' weigh day to be better... Sat is the day!! However, I do weigh most days, but the difference is that I don't let it effect me now. I concentrate on all the positives such as the inch loss, the loose clothes, loose rings on my fingers, having one neck instead of three, the being able to do an hour of exercise in one go and not it small 10-15 mins sessions... it is all a part of the process and I am starting to get that now! xx
  2. Hello fellow sleevers... Just thought I would put this out there to see if any one has been in the same or similar position... I am nearly 9 weeks post op and I feel great. The healing process for me was ok and I had no issues at all!! My weight loss is good and I am not complaining (honest) in fact, I can honestly say that I have never lost 29lb in 9 weeks before, in my life, EVER!!! However, my weight loss is sooooo inconsistent and I am really frustrated by this, I had a stall from 2 1/2 weeks to around week 5 and then I lost a few pounds and then nothing again...!!!! Has anyone else experienced this; I was sorta hoping that I would lose a steady amount weekly (that sounds a little self assured and it isn't meant to be) as this is what I was lead to believe by my surgeon! x NB I posted this in the wrong place the first time, so sorry if you have read this twice...lol Any words of wisdom or advise would be greatly received... xx

How can you tell the difference?

Hi... I am losing slowly, but my clothes are getting looser and looser... last week i lost a 1lb but lost 3 inches, that really helps me with the slow scale thing!! I have also noticed that my rings are getting looser and looser, and I can now wear my engagement ring and my wedding ring all day, every day... morning noon and night!!! That, my sleeve friends, is priceless for me and more important that the scales moving!! I think that I am starting to see other positives of this process... not just the weight loss!! Keep up the good work fellow sleevers x

    Hobbies...

Hobbies are a great way of taking your mind off food; I like to draw, this gives me a sense of satisfaction when I have finished. I also play word games on line such as scrabble... both ot these help me take my mind of food and the feeling of hunger be in real or in my head... Good luck with your hobbie x
  5. Hey! I am certainly glad and pleased that have my sleeve... 9 weeks post op I am down 30 lbs which, I am pleased with, and although slower than most, it is still good for me! I can eat pretty much anything and I am controlling my portions well. Mentally I haven't had a huge problem, there has been ups and downs, days where I feel blue but I don't crave or need food... I think I have had a little head hunger, but a glass of Water soon cures that! I haven't told many people, and sometimes I feel guilty when I get compliments from co workers who don't know... but I am dealing with that and I am slowly beginning to feel better about not telling them the truth... I just say that I am following a low carb, healthy eating diet and people seem to believe me! The friends and family that do know have been mostly amazing... my close family have been really supportive, especially my hubby who supports me every step of the way. I have only had one silly comment and I managed to brush it off without too much trouble...lol... my friends are amazed at how different I am starting to look, and how healthy I look too and that is really encouraging because for me it is about a healthier and happier lifestyle! Physically, well that is a weird one! Some days, I can look in the mirror and smile at myself as I seen a smaller me and other days, all I see staring back at me is a 'fatty' but I know this is my own self esteem and I am trying to work on that. On a more positive note, I am doing a lot more exercise, varying what I do, and I am, at last, enjoying it and starting to push myself to get better. Due to my slow weight loss, I have set myself mini goals and these help me stay motivated; these include things like, getting into a pair of jeans that didn't fit me 4 years ago (never worn!), wearing shoes with heals to work and no pain in my foot or calf, wearing my engagement ring everyday without my fingers swelling ... I only have about 7lbs to go for my next goal and that is swimming with my kids!! Sounds silly but they've really helped me! I hope this helps... xx

    Friends on diets

thanks Jane... I really don't think they would 'get' it... I remember, probably this time last year, I mentioned good old Fern Briton and her band ... oh you should have heard what they said... it was criminal and sooo judgement... I then pipped up, 'God I would have it done at the drop of a hat!' and they told me off... nothing wrong with you or your weight came the reply... hence the reason why I have told only two peeps!!
  7. Hiya Jane, Phew... I can certainly feel little spikes, so hopefully they will grow as the rest leave home...lol... having a hair cut wed and will ask my hairdresser what she recommends... i don't mind fine if i can disguise it... bald just freaks me out though!!
  8. OMG, thinoneday... 3 1/2 months... that must of been awful... how did you break it? I see from your ticker that you have lost an incredible amount of weight... even after that awful stall you must be feeling great and looking great too... any hints for us relative newbies?? x

    July Surgeries

Chilo, strange isn't it... i am nearly 4 weeks overdue and if the hubby hadn't of had the snip I would be a little concerned... to be honest, I actually want it to happen and for it to settle down(ish) I have never been a 28 day girl!! I am getting to the stage where the more I think about it the more I am wondering if this hormone thing is why I am losing so slowly!! Dunno hopefully my 'lil friend will be here soon...

    Friends on diets

Hey, Oh my!! This is sooooo ringing bells with me too... I have only told a handful of people, but in particular, only two in work... Now, back after summer holidays and 9 weeks post op I have returned to work - I work in a school - and I have started to get a lot of comments about my weight loss... People as asking, 'oh what diet are you on?' and 'how can I lose weight like you?' All I can say, is 'Oh I eat less and lots of Protein, I keep my carbs down, I drink a lot of Water and I exercise more.' which, in essence is true BUT I know that this tiny tummy is my life line and saviour from the cruel world of dieting! I do feel guilty but I also want to keep my operation to myself... I am not confident that people would be accepting here in the UK ??? Hmmm, awkward position ain't it!! x

    July Surgeries

Hiya Wildiris and everyone else...lol, this might sound like a really silly question, but do you think that the cycle and hormones effect weight loss with the sleeve... the reason I ask is that I have only had one, very small, period since my sleeve 9 weeks ago and my weight loss has been inconsisitent to say the least! I have been getting some pre period sysmtoms, but they have come and gone over the last couple of weeks and still no 'show' ... there is NO chance that I am pregnant ...lol... thankfully! Any ideas ??
  12. Hello, I have noticed my hair thinning already and I am 9 weeks post op... it is scary as my hair is fine as it is... a couple of years ago it happened but for reasons unknown! I personally think it was a combination of stress at work and hormones... I have read in places that with WLS your hormones go a little 'wild' so perhaps this is one of the causes of hair loss... thankfully it is temporary thing!
  13. closer and closer, i can almost smell it... another pound off this week...but if one pound a week is all i can do then it is gonna take me two months to get to onederland... BUT as long as i get there...lol

    Who's sleeving in July?

Hey all, I too was sleeved in July... 3rd is my date... for those of you who were sleeved on the 16th that is my wedding anniversary... and indeed a special day for all!! I seem to be doing ok, lost 30lb so far and I am pleased with that... it isn't consistent though, some weeks nothing others 3lb... that can be a little frustrating but at least it is coming off!! I have NEVER lost this much in 9 weeks before so that is a bonus and keeps me going! I've started to receive nice comments, 'Oh you're looking good' and my favourite ' Bloody hell Coops, how much weight have you lost?!!' ...lol Hope everyone is doing well and would love to hear your stories and any advice!
  15. Hiya Number50, I was in a simialr position to you at your stage, I am only 9 weeks post op now and since the initial 2 1/2 weeks lose it has been really up and down and slow. I try to drink plenty of Water as well as cups of tea and decaf coffee... not sure how the liquid thing works! keep going and I would imagine that you will start to lose again very soon...
  16. Well done Donna... 3lb is awesome... good work! I did my offical weigh in this morning and lost a pound, better than nothing!! I do weigh more often, but I am gonna have to try and stop that cos, like you it is doing my head in!!!

    monthly cycles....

Hello all, so, is it normal for your cycle to go awol after surgery; I am nine weeks out and only had one period and now I am about 3 weeks overdue, if not more! (without checking) I have some symptoms, they last a day or two and then go away... another question, could this effect my weight loss as it is inconsistent??? thanks...
  18. Judy, JaneJ sent me some really useful info too, stuff that I hadn't rec'd from my surgeon... she is a star isn't she! I have to be honest, I love this site, there are sooo many good people with kind words and helpful advise that generally gets me through the rough times! x
  19. Hello all... well on the 'offical' weigh day today (I do weigh more through the week, but I have chosen Sat as my offical day!!) and I am down a pound... I know it is better than nothing, but after so little food I feel a little bit disappointed... but it is better than no movement at all! I think I am going to have to up the old exercise this week and see what happens next week!! Good luck to all us inconsisitent losers...lol xx

    4 Months Post Op

Well Done Goodlife!! I am 9 weeks post op now and I think I have the same pattern of losing 2 weeks out of the month, glad to see that I am in good company... Thanks for putting your stats our, you have made me realise that I am not doing it properly... you maybe wondering how on earth I can get it wrong, but I forgot to include TWO legs and TWO arms, so I am going to have to add mine up ... and of course that will mean that I have lost more inches that I orginally thought.... YEY and THANK YOU!! x
  22. thanks for your input everyone, it does help to know that I am not alone, and it is encouraging rather than discouraging to hear other people's point of view... and for fear of sounding cheesy (low carbs!!) I don't feel so alone now... big hugs x
  23. thanks.... again... i am sooo paranoid that i posted it again...lol!!
  24. thank you donna, i only have one or two cups of coffee a day, but when i am at home i enjoy a lovely cup of tea... getting the water in can be hard work, but i do my best...lol x
