Hello fellow sleevers... As you probably know, I am a slow loser... of course this is frustrating, but (and it is a big but, no pun intended) I am concentrating on the positive and feel good generally... When I was moaning to my hubby he said that it might be a 'mental' thing.... due to the fact that I have been big for such a long time, my 'head' doesn't want to get rid of the weight... almost using it as a comfort blanket?! I did (still do to a degree) use my weight as a joke.. to make people laugh etc and I am one who will take the mickey out of myself! For fun reasons only... I was just wondering if anyone else thought along these lines and how they turned it around. I still have a lot of weight to lose ... thanks in advance x

Chilo, just had a thought... I know you are back in the gym... have you seen fitness tv on sky? There are quite a few really good work outs on there... I have sky+ my favs, so instead of wasting money on dvds I do those... the combat cardio is really good but there are loads more... just a thought! x

Yey sleeve sisters... I love it!!! You are doing amazing, your starting weight is pretty much, give or take a pound, where I am now... and I have to be honest that I am desperate to get into the onderland zone!!! However, I did have a NSV today, as I bought a pair of jeans that are a size smaller, thinking 'oh I will wear these in a week or two'. I had to try them on, and they fit!! Ok, so they are a little tight, but I think that is because all my other stuff is so loose!! I posted on your other thread... I really think a hobby is a great idea... do you work? Since I have started back to work, I know that things are a hundred miles an hour now.. but so far I am not as tired as I normal and I haven't had a nanna nap, yet! I have been exercising too and that is a great feeling; to do some cardio and not feel like a baby elephant is sat on my chest!! One other thing that has been on my mind is my ToTM.... I haven't seen anything since 14th July and I am wondering if the old hormone thing is playing around with my weight too... dunno, might just be me being paraniod and desperate to see the scale move in a more modest way!!! x

Remind me of why I shouldn't get on the scale
coops replied to Lisalu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lisalu, I agree with the others... but a hobbie is a great idea... I love to draw and paint, when I get the time, and I find it gives me a great sense of satisfaction... it stops me thinking of 'stuff' and keeps my hands busy too... but anything that keeps your mind occupied will work... let us know what you decide x -
Hey, I use linseed/flax seed in its normal form... a small spoonful, with a glass of water... works like a dream, nice and easy!!! x
-
Hiya Lisa, Glad you have found something that works for you... just wondering, like Goodlife, how it is different to what most of us losers are doing... please would you explain the differences cos I am liking the sound of losing 10lb and more energy...lol =]
-
Thank you both... Chilo, seems we have a lot in common...lol... I am glad that we are in this together!! Lisalu, I appreciate your two cent...lol... makes me feel a little better... were you sleeved end of June? How are you doing, as we are only days away!! xx
-
Hey, yea, you are both right...thank you!! the 6 weeks school holidays would have been a gian around the ole waist!! That is a good positive to thnk about... Good luck Chilo for next week.. let me know how it goes! I haven't tried the fatsecret thing... tried one and it was too fiddly for me and got on my nerves... what is this one like? Easy to use? x

Hello all... I am still being a moaning minnie... the scales and tape measure are being mean again...lol... yes yet another couple of weeks with very little movement and I am soooo frustrated! Trying to be positive but I am finding it difficult! I don't really understand why I am not losing 'better' when I am eating so little, moving a lot more, drinking plenty of Water, following the programme and I still have a fair few pounds to shed... I could do with a NSV right now... xx

Hiya Diva,
Hope you are well... been thinking of you and your new tiny tummy... lots of love... Coops! x

I feel like being thin will solve ALL of life's problems.. Which just isn't the case.
coops replied to Pinkbetty25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pinkbetty, I completely understand where you are coming from as I feel very similar!! What I seem to forget, is that people do not really see me as 'fat' ... what they see is this woman who is funny, confident and out-going... who loves her job and is good at it... who is a great mam and a lucky wife... Basically, our self image is really different to what others see ... x -
Hiya Chilo, I've been going to the gym in work for a week or two... I too can't do that much but I try to break it down and like thinoneday, I try to add a little extra each time. I do 20 -25 mins on the bike, 10 mins on the stepper, 10 mins on the running machine (fast walk) and 7 mins on the rower... this is where I am now. I too add some free weights. I have also started Zumba which is a load of fun and I certainly build up a sweat... good luck and keep it up! x

Hey Gem!! I popped in the chat room over the weekend and the one night you were there, but you weren't...lol... it read 'away' i think!!!! I'll be popping in again soon though x

Hey, Congratulations on losing 26lb in a month (I am 10 weeks out and I've lost 30lb, which I am chuffed with!) Try not to stress over the stall thing, I, like many others get them often, so I measure and look for other positive signs, like loose rings, loose clothes, the ability to do exercise again etc. The one thing I have noticed about myself is my water consumption... I do better when I get plenty of clear fluids... have you tried that? BUT, remember four weeks out isn't long and you are doing great... hope the stall breaks for you soon x

And the stupid comments begin...

frustrated with inconsistent weight loss... anyone else?
coops posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hello fellow sleevers... Just thought I would put this out there to see if any one has been in the same or similar position... I am nearly 9 weeks post op and I feel great. The healing process for me was ok and I had no issues at all!! My weight loss is good and I am not complaining (honest) in fact, I can honestly say that I have never lost 29lb in 9 weeks before, in my life, EVER!!! However, my weight loss is sooooo inconsistent and I am really frustrated by this, I had a stall from 2 1/2 weeks to around week 5 and then I lost a few pounds and then nothing again...!!!! Has anyone else experienced this; I was sorta hoping that I would lose a steady amount weekly (that sounds a little self assured and it isn't meant to be) as this is what I was lead to believe by my surgeon! Any words of wisdom or advise would be greatly received... xx -

Hey Maddie, what a difference.... and a new hair do too!! You look so slim, and you are over half way to goal... how you do feel?!!! Well done! x -
I'm trying to re-think my exercise/activity goals. I feel the "experts" have caused me to become discouraged over the last couple of decades. We were told things like, "you must warm up before exercising, you must exercise at least 30 minutes with your heart rate at X or it was useless, you must stretch before you do whatever, etc. etc. etc." This week I started thinking about how much more active I was before I was so "educated." Do kids stop to think, "oh I can't run over to the other side of the yard because I haven't warmed up? I'm not planning to become a world class athlete. So I'm going to forget the expert advice. If I'm walking and I feel like running, I'm gonna, stretched or warmed up or not, and when I feel like not running, I'm gonna stop. I will take the stairs instead of the elevator at work. I will park farther from my destination. I will make any excuse to move more!!! Anyone else have any ideas to keep our bodes moving??? I have a desk job, so it's going to take some thought to add activity during my work day. I hadn't even thought about that... but you are soooo right!! We get told so much stuff that who know what is right or wrong, and I agree with you... make it personal, what suits you and what you can do in your life style that is maintainable... I think the idea about taking the stairs etc is a really good idea because if we can fit in a little extra here and there it has to make a difference in the long term! I try to vary my exercise so I don't get bored, I have a real low boredom threshold...lol :tongue_smilie: I like my wii fit and do that once (maybe twice) a week, I will go to the gym in work (its free) but only if I have company as I get so bored otherwise, and I have started Zumba and that seems a lot of fun... one down fall is that my old groin strain has reared its ugly head and hurts like hell... hopefully it will be ok for Wed when the next Zumba class is on!! Just gotta keep moving...lol

Help! I have stalled majorly!
coops replied to ajwatson11's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Ainsley, No problem, glad to have helped... it is easier for me to think outside the box and be more objective... I am trying to focus on the positive stuff as my weight loss is slow and inconsisitent and I just feel that looking at what I have done as opposed to what I haven't done is much better! I think, and I am no expert, that the Water thing might be your key... just drink as much as you can and see what happens... let me know how you get on... I know it really helps me. In my (humble) opinion, now that you have no medical issues, you have already reached your goal!! What an acheivement that is for you... I know my main goal is to be healthy in this body; to be able to be fit and active is as important as what the scales read or what clothes size I can wear! As regards medical weight, I feel it is very personal to everyone; my medical weight is so low, I can't even imagine what I would look like there (119lb) and I have never been that weight in my adult life!! So, I have set myself two goal weights; the first being reasonable and the second being ultimate!! But as long as I don't gain I will be pretty much happy... Let me know how you are doing xx -
Help! I have stalled majorly!
coops replied to ajwatson11's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello... the whole stall thing really sucks and is very discouraging! I keep getting mini ones and I am only 10 weeks post op, I find them frustrating and annoying but I try to look at it this way; I haven't gained... BUT... what a fantastic weight loss you have had already! I bet you are looking and feeling great and that makes a huge difference in itself. Do you want to lose another 29lb or do you need to? Sounds daft I know, but that might help the positive train of thought???? :crying: Another positive... when you do reach your target weight, look how easy you will maintain it....????? :tongue_smilie: Just an idea ... what about Fluid? Are you drinking plenty of Water? Especially if you have increased your exercise?! Hope you see some movement soon, keep us posted x -
frustrated with inconsistent weight loss... anyone else?
coops replied to coops's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hiya COGSP, thanks for the insight... interesting about the high v low fat on the low carb front. I will give it a go! Well done on your success so far... how is the plication going, I don't really know the difference to be completely honest!! Unfortunately, this week, I haven't lost a pound... no weight, no inches and I am gutted!! I haven't changed a thing, low carb, plenty of Water and exercise three times! *sighs* That ended in a bit of a splurgh yesterday, which I think did me good mentally.. if that makes sense! I know this will work for me, logic says that... I suppose I would just like to see a little movement on a regular basis... hey ho!! Happy sleeving ... x -
