    Mental Health

Great news!!! I'm glad you found someone.
  14. I just posted these books in a separate thread but thought others may also benefit from them as well. I have been seeing a therapist for my bipolar disorder over the past few years and she has been instrumental in helping me cope with the changes in my mind and body since the sleeve. There are two books she suggested to me that I will recommend to other fellow sleevers who struggle with eating and mental health: Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think by Brian Wansink Changing Our food, Changing Ourselves: Women, Food, Relationships, & Culture by Karen Burke These have been very insightful and have helped me gain a better understanding of why we eat. If anyone wishes to talk about mental health issues in a more private setting, please feel free to PM me.

    Mental Health

I believe that a counselor/therapist would be beneficial. The difference is that they cannot prescribe medications. I think what you are describing is typical for most and a therapist can help you develop strategies for dealing with the challenges you face. I have been seeing a therapist for a few years and she has been instrumental in helping me cope with the changes in my mind and body since the sleeve. Since your insurance company doesn't cover the cost of a mental health professional maybe pick up these books and give them a read. At least, it will put you on the right path. Good luck! BTW ... with my therapist's help I eventually determined that I eat when I am not hungry out of boredom. I am still working on trying to fill up my day with activities that keep my mind focused on things other than food. You are NOT alone in this struggle. Keep your chin up!
  16. Emotional eating is taking me over today :(

  17. Having a hard time ditching all the goodies leftover from Easter...seems wrong to throw away so much food.

  18. Just signed up to get my motorcycle license next weekend... wish me luck. I've never ridden a motorcycle in mt life. After next weekend, I'll finally be able to ride along side my hubby :)

    Mattress selection for heavy people

My husband and I invested in a Tempur-Pedic a few years ago. We love it! He had back pain for years but as soon as he stared sleeping on the new Tempur-Pedic it went away. It is firm and contours to your body. It is very expensive but well worth the money. If you buy directly from Tempur-Pedic they give you a 90-day free trial to make sure your satisfied. http://www.tempurpedic.com
  22. 4 weeks post-op...20lbs lost since surgery. Wish it had been more but I'll take it!

  23. So very sick...only 2.5 weeks postop.

  24. Brielle - I know exactly how you feel. I am almost 3 weeks postop and I haven't lost any weight in the last two week. It is very frustrating. I am trying hard not to get on the scale everyday but it is really hard because I think that the weight will just melt away. Thankfully, as several people responded, this is something I believe everyone goes through. At least we can take comfort in the fact that we are not alone.
  25. Suffering from a bad chest cold and temp...trying not to cough but several times today I have coughed so hard I started to dry heave. I am so scared that I am damaging my sleeve. :(
