  1. I had my surgery on 2/23 and about 2 weeks out I too had a similar experience. I thought I had overdone it with cleaning the previous weekend. I went and saw my surgeon for post-op checkup and I told him. I had an xray to check placement, an ultrasound to check for Fluid, and bloodwork. Xray and ultrasound showed placement was perfect and no fluid. My bloodwork, however, showed that my white cell count was a little high so my surgeon put me on antibiotics. The pain went away in 2 to 3 days, but the next week my white cell count remained a little elevated (same as previous week). I just went last week (2 weeks from post-op check-up) and my blood count was back to normal. He is having me stay on antibiotics for another 2 weeks (a month total) just to be sure. He ruled it a "foreign body" causing this elevation and was concerned about possible infection. Perhaps giving your office a call wouldn't hurt?
  2. Thank you. Your response has made me feel at ease. You are right. I know I shouldn't be so obsessed with the number.
  3. Hello everyone. I was banded on 2/23/11. I did have some minor complications about 2 weeks out - one incision had a slight infection so I am taking antibiotics and I pulled my port site (just slightly) so that I had to rest last week due to inflammation. I lost 10 pounds the first week after surgery. Then I hit a plateau. I have lost 2 pounds over the past 2 weeks. I am following the diet. I have progressed to soft proteins - eggs, shredded chicken, tuna, etc. I guess I am just concerned about my lack of weight loss. Am I worrying for nothing?

    Any february bandsters out there?

I was banded on 2/23 in Burlington, MA. I had lost 21 pounds before surgery and am down an additional 10. I have had some minor complications. One of my incisions did not close entirely and looks funky so I am currently on antibiotics to prevent infection. I have also had some pain on my side where my port sits. Pretty sure I overdid it and caused a small tear or pull. I am starting to add soft foods now (eggs and mashed potatoes). Overall I have felt great. The worst I felt was the day after surgery but that was due to the gas moving out of my body. My pain has been nonexistent up until the pain in my side, but even that is minimal now. Good luck to everyone and I look forward to hearing your updates...
  5. Hi everyone. I have been looking at this site for well over a month now and finally registered. I was banded on February 23rd by Dr. Sillin at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. I had followed a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I lost 21 pounds before surgery and since surgery I have lost another 10 pounds. I am still in recovery phase, but I have moved from full liquid diet to starting soft foods - YAY! I truly appreciate the open honesty and advice I have found on this site.
