Great job on your loss. I was banded 12/11 to and I have had great loss in my mind but it came easy in the begining and has slowed greatly! I have had to start working for my loss now Its all good I am just so glad I am enjoying life agian. It definitly has its ups and down but I think the most important thing to remeber is it is a tool that we must work! Good luck on your run I am hoping to start running myself!

November 2010 Bandsters - post op
crzyfry replied to DebWS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded in december and i have lost 72 lbs total and 51 since surgery. I have felt really stressed lately and have seen no one from dec so i am joining you guys band wagon! I feel the same as alot of u I had wanted to reach 100lbs in the first year but i realize that may not happen. I have started doing yoga and that has helped. But i too am struggling with wondering if i am too tight or just right. I am due to go back but have not. I get things stuck alot more than i used to but it is almost always my fault ie eating too fast and the wrong things. Lets hang in there we all have lost and more than we probably ould have without the tool. I keeo remebering looking at charts and 18months out most people with the band level out with those with gastric so I am just hoping I start loosing faster agian. -

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
crzyfry replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats everyone! My 6 month is this weekend and I am happy with what I have lost but I am struggling. Really hope that getting this fill next week Kicks the weight loss off again. It is a slower process now in the beginning I was loosing so fast so it has been hard mentally hitting the slower weight loss cycle. I only hope this fill helps and I start seeing results quick! Mentally the last month has been the hardest!!!! -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
crzyfry replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad to see this last month has been hard on others too! I guess we are just at that stage with our band. I had a follow up yesterday and did not get a fill. Do not know whether to be happy or sad. I only lost 6lbs in 6 weeks which is hard when I was losing 10-14 a month before. Oh well I now have to work on working my bad. I really should not complain because I have been cheating a lot over the last month. I am trying to find the strength to kick start my butt right back to being very strict and not going a stray. I am 3lbs from 60 total pounds lost and I really want to get there. Well here goes my first strict day of calorie counting and measuring here on out! -
Welcome! I can certainly understand how you feel. My husband and I meet at 17 and I was very athletic played soccer hiked you name it we did it. Then 4 kids later and college classes and his always changing shift work schedule (evey 7 days he switches shifts). I went from 145 38-28-38 to 293. Oh my! I had my band done in dec and it has been the best thing for me. It is still difficult I have lost 51lbs since everything started. I had lost almost 30 gained some back waiting on approval then lost 42 since surgey. It is hard it is a tool but it can be done. I also know that now that my weight loss has slowed I see my weight drop more when I do the Wii fit on a regular basis. Just something new I started back on since I hit a plateau at 45lbs. But it has been wonderful to put clothes on from last year that are way to big? The best advice I can give is your gonna have bad days, your gonna slip but this is a process and we are undoing the habits we have taught ourselves so it is hard to change as with everything.

I have had that when I have eaten too much or right after my fills when I am really tight. Have u called your surgeon?

Is your band working for you?

What does your surgeon say? Sounds like you have a slippage or your too tight! I hope you get that fix. -
Should we force our children to eat healthy foods?
crzyfry replied to Birinak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am a mother of 4 and I have found how true it is that our kids are all different. My first two are a year and a week a part and I was very conscious of what a nutritionist once told me in not forcing them to finish their food and not making dessert a reward. Then 3 years later came the third. He is the tricky one. Because I was pregnant my kids nutrition really suffered! Whatever was quick and easy is what we ate! After my last pregnancy I realized what I had done and I have been paying for it ever since. I do not believe that every child is different and what works for one parent may not work for another. But what works for our family is that I cook completely healthy now if at all possible. This can even be an issue with my husband who is red meat man!~ I make sure they get veggies and fruits everyday and even if its a veggie I do not like I will a tleast eat a bite. I do not force my children to stay at the table when they say they do not want to eat but I do not allow them to eat in between meals if they do not finish their food. We do not eat dessert all the time but when we do they must have made an effort at dinner ( only because the 3 only wants dessert) As for forcing my children to eat healthy my oldest 2 have always eaten salad and fruit and they love it but I have never and I mean never cooked a separate meal for my children! They either eat what they are given or nothing! My children take after my husband and have metabolisms the size of Texas! HA But I think it is our responsibility as parents to teach our children to eat right. This is why we as a society have grown to being obese and our children have suffered. As stated by another poster it is hard to not eat on the go. We live on the go and thankfully I do not work anymore but it is still hard. The one thing to remember is there are more healthy choices even at fast food places. -
I felt like I had more energy pretty fast but I still had to rest! It took me almost three months to feel awesome and not need a nap during the day! You have to remember you all had major surgery and the body must rest to heal. I know I went to bed by 9 o'clock for the first three months. But I would not change a thing to be almost 4 months post op and have lost 41lbs and be able to do things I did not realize I missed doing was definitely worth going to bed early for 3 months.

What does "restriction" feel like?
crzyfry replied to JennEdge's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found that after every fill the hunger stays away longer. I fill up quicker most of the time and have over filled myself since the third fill. But I think it is a game figuring out how everything works and when it is right for you! I think I may have found the sweet spot this time I just hope it hangs around:) -
Well I think this agian is one of those issue you just have to sort out for yourself. I did not try anything at first that might get sick, but over time I have started cautiously trying. Also I have found that it seems my band fills change everything! Once agian some days I am really tight and I know to take it easy on what I try. I really do not have anything that I can not eat. But there are times I can and times I can not eat things.

Overwhelmed with nutrition information!
crzyfry replied to Rainydayz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree it is very hard. And the reason that most diets fail is because its the same thing over and over. I know that I spent the first few months never cheating. Then it came to that time of the month and I cheated and about beat myself up! Carbs and sweets are my downfall around that time. I remembered how my surgeon told me to be good 90% of the time. So I decided instead of giving myself cheating time every week as I call it I give myself that week. I have learned to cook from all the good recipes on different sites for weight loss patients. My family has only complained a few time. My hubby did not like cauliflower rice but my kids love it. I have found the best thing for me is to make them a full dinner ad I just eat the Protein and the veggies. Maybe 1 or 2 bites of carb or starch. The most important thing is to remember this is a journey and a tool we have been given it takes everyone time to learn how to make it work right for you
