I just have a quick question, How long after surgery did you go back to work? Is it possible to have it done on a Wed. and go back the following Mon?

I got mine approved, I'm 5'9 also, but I am 230. But I also have Diabetes, high blood pressure and cholestrol, GERD, gastroparesis, and problems sleeping. It might be easier for you now that the FDA has approved the lapband for people with 30-35 BMI's. Good luck!

I am a military spouse also. I would get a second oppinion. Also Tricare will cover it, they will want you to have it done if it is a service offered at the Military Facility by you. And as part of the pre op program will be to see a nutritionist also, along with some other things to complete on a check list. Hope this helps! -
Hi, My BMI is 33 and My insurance is covering it. I have Tricare Prime. But you have to have health issues.
-
I have Tricare Prime, the surgeon wanted me to do a 6 month Doctor supervised diet, But I had already completed this. A nutrition appointment, and a sleep study.

I have my consult on Thursday. I'm wondering how long I will have to wait. I have done the Dr. supervised diet though about 18 months ago. Good luck! -

Hi, Have you tried drinking Miralax? You can put it in your Water, or coffee, juice. It doesn't taste, I take it once a day or every other day if it gets too loose! Hope it helps! It's also safe enough to take every day, it's even safe enough for children.

I'm 5'9 and my goal weight is 160-165.

Hi, My name is Kimberly, I live in San Diego. I am in the process of getting approved for the Band. I too was wondering about a support group in the area. I have about 70lbs to lose.
-
I'm not banded yet, but the term "tool" does bug me a little...I think I"m gonna refer to my band as my accomplice. Always in need of a good Partner in Crimein The War Against Weight!

Hi! My name is Kimberly. I'm new to the boards, and working to get approved for the lapband. Hopefully it won't be too long of a process, I would like to get this done before starting my RN program in May. Does anyone know if they are able to remove a bad gallbladder at the same time they place the band? Looking forward to making new friends!!!
-
Congrats!!! That must be a great feeling!!! Keep up the good work!
-
I would love to stay in touch also!

I'm hoping to get an approval in the next couple of weeks! I would like to get this done before I start my RN program in May.

I myself am worried about the unwanted advice, partly because my BMI is around 34, and some "don't think I need the band". I am still in the process of getting my band approved, but I have chosen only to tell my husband, and 2 close friends. Both of which have had the gastric bypass. They are supportive and understand why I'm choosing to do this. After one of my close friends had the bypass, and hearing all the "advice" they had for her, I decided I'd rather keep it to myself, or just share with the selected few.

I'm 5'9 and 230, I am working on my approval thru insurance. I have diabetes, and GERD. With your achy joints I would think you could get it, since they have lowered the BMI to >30 in some cases. Good luck!
-
WOW!!! Congratulations!!! Keep up the good work!

Being banded Monday--excited but nervous too!!!

Wishing you the best of luck and a very speedy recovery!!! -
Is it true that the insurance info changed?
lv2h8me replied to Mrsace13's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you have a BMI over 30 with health complications, you can get the lapband. But I belive for the other WLS it's still 35 with 2 or more comorbitities, or a BMI over 40.
