Lap Band Is Not Reversible. Why The Sleeve May Be A Better Choice.
hopetolose replied to crystalny's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
the sleeve was just approved in the us in 2007, That is just 5 years. You keep saying you want someone that has reached a mark of over 8 years, but you not going to find that with the sleeve are you? Juchut is at seven. Did you stop to think that alot of people only post when they are starting out and quit after they have made their goal. -

Oh C@@p - It Seems I May Still Be Obese
hopetolose replied to elcee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Elcee, in the end, there is only so much we can do to help extend our lifespan... My aunt was in her 50s and in excellent health, petite and fit and she had a major heart attach and lived the next 10 years with a difibulator and was pretty miserable the last 5. You have lost the excess weight that im sure your doctor was pleased with and stress will definately not help. So I would keep up with great work you have done and live life to the fullest. -
Words Of Encouragment!!
hopetolose replied to Crybaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only lost 17 lbs in the last 7 months. thats a little more that 2 lbs a month. I was averaging 10 a month before that. But I look at it that I am going the right way instead of gaining. There was a few months that I was at 180 and stuck. But finally broke thru. It will come, your body just needs to rethink what it needs to do next. -
I gave it up about a week bwfore surgery, which means almost a year ago. I feel so much better without it, I really dont miss it at all. I have two iced teas with slenda a day a the rest of the time water. Once you get over the initial craving, you will feel better. Its just like what you will start to do with food. Once you start to not eat as much, you will soon begin to not need as much. Its retraining your head and your body.

My bandiversary is in 11 days and I have 12 lbs to go till goal. At this point its probably physically impossible to lose a pound a day and make goal by then. Oh well, still feel great. I can fit into most tens, but would like to have them a little more comfortable fit. What I really need to do is get back in the gym. Ive been so busy, but I need to make some time for it. I will check in on the 14th and let you know if I made it

Im not beating myself up to bad. Im not being that diligent and so I am pleasently surprised with any loss that I have. You know how you have it in your head when your are near your year mark that you would be a goal. Like that day is the magical day to be done. B52, you are a lean mean fighting machine!! I wish I had your diligence in the gym...

Stomach Virus Or Slip So Much Pain?
hopetolose replied to Grider's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
do you think you could have eaten to much? I did this once and I had a really bad pain for several hours. A slip would be more of not being able to get anything down, not even liquids. But symptoms can vary though. If it keeps up thru tomorrow, might want to call your doc to check on it. -
Getting Banded On April 13 :)
hopetolose replied to sandy_s's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be a year on 4/14, and I would do it all over again. I am about 11 lbs from my goal, but I would be very happy if I stopped where I am at. Please dont have buyers remorse or get to scared. It was a fairly easy procedure and the down time wasnt all that bad. I went back to work in 4 days. This forum, if u use it properly is great. Meaning by properly, in that you will hear alot of advise but u really need to have a good doctor and go to your fills and use them as much as you can. This first few months will be about learning alot of new things about yourself and your new body part (band) and it might consume alot of your time. It is still a big part of my life one year later. You will find alot of useful information from this forum, but also alot of information from alot of different people. You have to be able to tell what information is best for you. good luck. it will be exciting to see the new you in a year!! Someone just told me today they almost didnt recogize me from last year!! -
Its been about a month since my last fill but I am so tight right now. I know its probably stress related. My question is do I just wait it out or go get an unfill? I can get liquids down mostly and a little bit of mushies, but not to much else without hurting.

I really dont miss that full feeling. Ive probably been full twice and it was yucky. I like being able to eat a little bit every three or four hours. I never feel hungry and never feel full.

Stress Making Me Tight!!
hopetolose replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im not even sure how many calories im getting in right now. My life has been so chaotic lately that I have had no time to keep track. I prettu much just eat when I gey hungry, but then have to get something that will go down good. Protein shake walking out the door, small wendies chili for lunch and some mushed up yams fr dinner. I tend to grab a couple of crackers in the afternoon to munch on. So basically not getting enough calories or protein right now. My hubby is heading home this weekend after being gone off and on for the past year, so I am hoping that will help with my stress. I leave at 7 in the morning everyday and get home around 8 in the evening almost every night. Its killing me... -

Self Payer's Guilt?
hopetolose replied to kbliss78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a self pay (insurance ended up paying for a little bit). I had some guilt at the beginning just because it is a big chunck of money. But I never had second thoughts at all. I would do it all over in a heart beat and probably rob a bank if I had to. lol You save on food money and health if you are on several meds. The only things is new clothes. Which is not totally a bad thing if u ask me. -
sorry, I need to stop posting from my phone, it always puts it on double. uuggg

I think a majority of people greived for the food they would miss after the band. It is completely natural emotion. For me, it was fastfood. I was a fastfood junky. Ate there almost every meal. Now when I go there I get my unsweetened icetea and a yogert. Its been a year almost and although I would like to take a bite of a big mac, I know that it isnt possible (unless I take the bun off) but what fun would that be. lol You will mourn the food that you have to give up, but what your getting in return in so much better. Soon you will look at food and think, how in the world am I gonna eat all that. And yiu probably wont, and thats ok. Get used to waisting food...Soon it wont rule your life anymore. You will be in charge... I think a majority of people greived for the food they would miss after the band. It is completely natural emotion. For me, it was fastfood. I was a fastfood junky. Ate A Full Burger And Fries! Help!!
hopetolose replied to dramastarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I must have got the generic band cause mine was only 9600. If you are unfilled for whatever reason, you need to treat it as your bandster hell time and use as much will power as u can. Even if you can eat a whole hambuger and fries doesnt mean u should. I know with me, once I start down that road it would be hard to stop again. I have learned alot over the past year, but I trying that stuff would pull a trigger. good luck and try to get refilled soon if possible. -

Its Getting Nice Outside And I Really Want A Beer!!
hopetolose posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol... we are going to have 70s here in Denver all week and I am starting to crave a beer. I really havent drank all that much liquer since being banded. I could probably count them on one hand, and they have all been non carbonated. I am so terified of trying anything carbonated. I know B52 enjoys a beer now and then (lol). Has anyone else had any problems with having one? Is tap better than bottle as far as carbonation goes. -

hopetolose replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a two drink limit person anyway, and that is if I feel like partying!! lol So I wont have to worry about over doing it. I think I will try it one of these days and see what happens. It sounds like it will just be uncomfortable if anything. I might be able to handle that if it happens. thanks guys -
Do food commercials make you gringe now? I watch some of the commercials and think, that looks good but why is there sooooo much of it.... Funny thing is thinking back to a year ago eating that big plate of food;)
-
I like watching that guy that goes to different places and gets the biggest hittest stuff to eat. But sometimes it hard to stomach just watching it. But some if looks tasty (for maybe two bites)
