Great job B52. I meet with the nutritionist in three months to go over maintanence. I dont think I am going to get an unfill. Im gonna see how I maintain with this, plus im still thinking I might do 5 more lbs or so. Should be interesting to see how maintainence goes. I think its gonna be pretty much following the same rules for a very long time now.

I am wondering if I am going thru a little midlife crisis? I am constantly wanting to go shopping, which I never hadvan interest in before. I have started going tanning. I am almost considering getting a tatoo (still cant bring myself to actually do it). The only thing I am not doing is looking for a younger man I am still quite in love with my hubby. Even though he is not showering me with attention like I thought he would when I lost weight. Thats kinda a bummer. Anybody else feel like they are changing more than figure?

Cheri, you DO NOT look 51. Do Not put a bun in your hair and Do Not put on a frumpy dress!!!! Go buy a cute little Selina Gomez shirt and go with your bad self. LOL.

I bought some wedges also. I also bought a cute little top in the juniors section at kmart. I think it was by selina gomez. Omg, really!! But what the heck, if I can fit into it, im gonna wear it. Thanks hummingbird, I will keep it in mind. im basically just trying to get a little bit of a base tan so that I dont get all kinds of different tan lines like I did last summer. It was a free week, so I prob wont go after that

Those Of You That Have Been Banded A While...
hopetolose replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having the same issue right now. My doctor said that I could stop where I am at or if I wanted to get down a little more I should just do it thru exercise. I have met my initial goal if getting to a size 10, but I still think I would like to do a.little more. I dont think I would go past an 8, I dont think it would look good on me. I am 5'8" and about 169 now. My normal bmi will be at 164. -
will keep that in mind, thanks! This will be my first summer that I am really going to enjoy as a thinner person, so I hope not to get sidetracked with a gain... that would stink!!

Those are the stats I found also which is not very high. And what I found on causes is that alot of it is self induced. Filling your band to much and vomiting to much which makes your your stomach to acidy. So, if you treat your band how your suppose to, your chances are less. I woud still get it with 10% chances...

Crystal Lite margarita's????? Where are these at???? I neeed some of those.... Tell me tell meeee!!! LOL My doctor said the other day that I should just start to enjoy my weight loss and just forget I have the band now. I was like... How is that possible. I need to concentrate on it alot thru the day. I need to remember that I have it so that I dont abuse it. I was a little tight for awhile, but I milked that and didnt try to abuse it and didnt get to the point that I had reflux or anything. I want to make sure that I have it for awhile because I depend on it alot. My main problem when I was bigger was that I was addicted to fast food. I think I would go back to that if not for the band. I sometimes crave a hamburger and fries!!! So I think it will be awhile before I can get the band out of my head on a daily basis.

Ever Catch Yourself Looking At Yourself...
hopetolose replied to hopetolose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ahhh, glad im not the only one One year ago, I would have avoided looking because I couldnt believe that was me, now I still cant believe its me, but for a totally different reason Its the little things that keep us going, right? -
In the storefront windows... Sometimes I walk by and I glance over and I catch myself doing a double take. Not sure that I am looking at myself or not. Have to make sure not to stare to long cause that would be embarrising.

I think acid might affect it if you throw up alot and get acid reflux alot due to pb'ing and such. That is why you have to always be aware of your band and take care of it. I cut out all carbination two weeks before my surgery. I havent had any in over a year. I really would like to try a beer, but I really dont want to risk it.

Should I Get My First Fill On Thursday?
hopetolose replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Get a fill. I got a fill almost everytime I went in the first couple of months. Even little tweeks helped. It kinda sounds like you maybe able to eat to much at one sitting. I get full after a cup of food. And then I dont eat for several hours. Good luck -
When Did You Realize That You Lost Weight?
hopetolose replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It takes awhile sometimes to get your head and your eyes to see the same thing. I could tell I was losing because my clothes fit differently, but sometimes i wouldnt see it in the mirror. Now that I am kinda close to goal, I can look at myself in the mirror and see the difference but sometimes my head is like, wow, that cant really be what I look like. I dont feel that skinny. -
I asked my doctor that very question the other day at my year appt and he said that there is a very slim chance for errosion. More chance of a slip than errosion. There is currently no stats that back up that claim of errosions. I wonder why he wouldnt even consider the sleeve. I would get a second opinion for your son if he is really wanting to do it.

Surgury Soon And All Posts Are Seeming So Negative
hopetolose replied to kbliss78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
there has been alot of negative lately, but its goes in cycles, where sometimes there seems to be more than usual. I agree that alot of problems can be avoided if you follow the rules. If you are supose to be on mushies, stay on mushies. chew your food till it is mush... dont drink while eating... theres such a thing as a little cheat and theres such a thing as being stupid about eating a whole hamburger or something along those lines 3 days after surgery. -
First Experience Lap Band Prejudice And Ignorance From Nurse
hopetolose replied to Fishes1971's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would if smacked her:) How rude!! I had to tell a nuse today that I had lapband cause I was going in with my son to get an MRI and wasnt sure if they needed to know that or not. Was all set for the ignorance, but she just looked at me and Wow, looked liked it worked. I said yes about 75 lbs so far and she asked a couple more questions and went in her way. Never know what kind if reaction you might get. Sorry you had to deal with that!! congrats on your surgery. -
So when I was at my one year appt with my dr., he said I looked great and told me that if I lost anymore, he wanted it to be thru exercise and not to go below 164, which is a bmi if 24.9. I am scheduled for a nutrition consult in 3 months, which I assume will be a maintain visit. And with the fill nurse, which I assume will be to evaluate if I need an unfill to maintain. Sooo, I just lost another 2.5 lbs, which brings me to about 5 lbs to that goal. Still have not really exercised, except for a couple of quick walks over the past week. I dont think its possible to eat anymore. I wonder if im gonna have to go in sooner than the three months to get an unfill. Which kinda scares me. Ive learned alot, but I rely on my band alot too. im at a size 10 right now, if I lose another 8 to 10 lbs, I will probably be an 8. Which wouldnt be to bad I guess

Oh, Its amazing how much better you feel getting excess weight off. Every ten pounds makes such a difference. I remember two summers ago being so uncomfortable that even wearing a bra was hassle. Then last summer I felt so much better when I got down to 200 by the beginning of summer and then 180 by the end of the summer. It was amazing. I am so looking forward to this summer and being comfortable again after so long... Good luck on your progress JessRess, you will be noticing a big difference soon as well.

How Much Weight Can You Really Loose With The Lap Band?
hopetolose replied to dv817's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was self pay as well, and I was willing to just lose 50 percent, which meant just 40 lbs, which would have put me at 200. Even 40 lbs would have been worth it. I felt so much better even at 200 lbs. But the weight lose is going to be depending alot on you. You have to be willing to work this band to its full potential. The band will not make good choices for you. The bands main purpose is to make you feel full. If you do the right things, it will do that. Even when I eat bad stuff like chips and stuff, I will feel full after just a few of them. You have to be willing to listen to the band and stop when it tells you to. I am about 8 lbs from my goal and about 4 lbs from a normal BMI. I kept thinking that I would be fine if I stopped at 200 and then I thought I would be fine at 180. But both those number came and went and I am still heading downward. It was worth every penny so far. Good luck on your decision
