Hi. I had my first WLS in March 2011 with Dr. Matthew Metz. I had a Lapband placed at that time. I had lost 60 lbs with the Lapband, but in the fall of 2012 I started having difficulty eating and keeping food down. After many tests they found it to be irritating my esophagus and causing swelling. I gained back some of the weight I lost due to eating poorly. I ate what went down easiest and that ended up being ice cream a lot! In the fall 2012, I met with a new surgeon, Dr. Farrah Husein, (due to a change in my medical plan) that helped me figure the problem out. After removing half the fluid in my band, I still had difficulties. So, the doctor offered the solution of converting to the sleeve. I had the conversion done on 2/18/13.
