About Me
My name is Sharon and I had lap band surgery December 2007. I am 61 years and am 4'9" tall or short:) and started my journey weighing 166 pounds. I lost 20 pounds and did not do so well with this because I was told by the doctor's office "I am sorry but your metabolism is so slow" This made me just give up and think why did I do this and why was I not told before surgery that I might as well not have had the surgery. Well here I am having lost a total of 30 pounds and recently gained back 10 of the 30 pounds and maintain my stubborn attitude. I can still eat just as I did, even though I throw up after many meals. ....Well I am going to have to change if I am going to make this work. I had gone to a few meetings in the beginning but got frustrated because it sounded like a lot of marketing of various products was the name of the game...not about the purpose of my procedure. As I write this, I hear the frustration that I am feeling because I need to change my attitude.
I had a minor surgical procedure done the other day and a nurse told me she had wonderful success because she had support through her friend that had the same procedure. I have had no one that has had lap band. I have an appointment today with the doctor and see if I can start all over. I do not know if I need a fill or not...I have in the past had ice cream, candy and cookies because they go down easier and liquids such as soda. I do hope that I did not stretch out my stomach to a back-to-no-return larger size.
I am writing this not to complain but to share what happens when I practice my will without support.
Has anyone ever heard of such a stubborn little lady?.....and most of all is there hope for recovery of self well?
