I had it about 2-3 weeks out and thought it was from the air that was trapped. I am sure part of it was but I also got horrible pain, like I wanted to die, from.....overeating. It is not normal overeating like before, piece of pizza here, bag of chips there, but like, take an extra bite and be in pain overeating. You can google it. It relates to "referred pain" because of the phrenic nerve. Do not be concerned though, once I realized what it was I have not been uncomfortable since. But,...for you most likely now, it is the air trapped. Keep trying to walk. It helps. Also, use a heating pad.

My surger is Tmrow!!!! SCARED!!!!
CarLee replied to kimbrown27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 3/11/11. My surgery was scheduled for 7am. I was given a "cocktail" right before they wheeled me into the operating room. That is the last I remember. I woke up around 8:30a-9:00a and no joke the outpatient center sent me home at around 9:45a. They made me walk, drink barium (very small amount) to ensure band was working. At one point when walking, I briefly felt the - I'm gonna vomit - sensation but did not have issues with that once home. I REALLY think the walking is important; however, rest too! And take advantage of the pain killers (atleast for the first couple days). I too, after about 3 days, felt good. My surg was Friday, I had plans to return to work on Monday but ended up going Tuesday only because my little guy got sick. The BIGGEST pain for me was the CO2. I did not have issues with anything else! Just to be aware of that is good. I did not realize that extra gas could cause so much flippin' pain but it did. Heating pad is your friend for sure! Good luck!!!! You can do it! I am a month out as of yesterday and already see my body changing in only great ways. Flatter tommy, looser clothes. Totally worth it! I still have not gotten the first fill either. On a side note.....during my experience, I had the worst!!! worst!!! shoulder/chest pain about 3 weeks out. I know that overeating can cause pain but did not realize it was being what's called "referred pain" sent to my shoulder. I also felt in no way was I overeating but, atlas, I was... Everyone's pain is different when it involves overeating but I still thought a heads up was in order. Again-----GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!!!!! -
weightloss before first fill??
CarLee replied to dolce_vita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 240 my first weigh in at the very, very beginning - that was in Oct. 2010 February 2011 I was 244 after one week liquid diet too!!! (really depressing) March 11, 2011 - day of surgery I then was at 229 March 15, 2011 I was at 233 first week post op appt. April 8, 2011 - now down to 220 First fill - 4/14/11. I like the specifics so I'd thought I would post my situation detailed. I have also heard that this first month pre first fill can be "band hell" whether it relates to pain, hunger.... With all the flucuating in my weight over the last couple months I do MOST definitely agree that the the first month is for healing. I still think, even with the loss, that it is more Water weight dropping, swelling going down, liquid limitations, etc. I feel that now that I have had healing time and I am only a week away from first fill, once filled - I can count the loss moving forward as band loss. One more point - I totally agree with previous posters who talk about self control. Even if you feel like you can eat everything, don't. The reason that is most important for me to remember, being a newbie and all - is because it is about re-training my thought process. Think big, be big. Think small, be small. With the band's help of course...lol -
I am not a soda drinker; however, having a soda here and there is nice, occasionally. The "catch" that I am aware of per a detailed booklet from my doc of what can/can not be eaten/drank, is that ALL soda when drank needs to be flat. I have heard from the nut. that some people are not affected by carbonation. I do agree with posts above, though, that soda on a regular basis is no good. Also - I love flat soda but....not a lot of people do (ecspecially those who are "experienced" soda sippers)

So - I am scheduled for banding on 3/11/11. I am reading all the information I can get my hands on and think your reply is very interesting. Since you can feel the port heat up because of your weight loss, does the same go for if you were to have a day in the sauna/day at the hot springs?? Thanks!
