  1. yeah, i think yoga and high impact aerobics are too much at 3 weeks post op. my doctor says walking is good for the first 4 weeks. then after that, add more exercise in depending on how you feel. everyone heals differently, but i think yoga might be a bit much for now. i waited 2 months before i started doing yoga again.

    "STUCK" in Vegas

maybe Vegas is not the place to be for Banders. I had a small stuck episode out there this summer. mine passed thank goodness, but none the less, not any fun when you are far away from home. i hear ya on it being "unpredictable". the night before me getting stuck, i ate just fine, even had sushi with rice, actually ate alot. LOL! maybe that was my problem, i was still full and ate in the morning, PB some it up and the rest went down, but i stayed on liquids for the next 24 hours and was fine after that. i found that warm liquids tend to help the swelling. i am much more cautious now about eating.

    1ST MINI GOAL

That is awesome. Congrats to you! Doesn't it feel great??!!! I know when i lost my first 20 i felt awesome. then 30 and now 40! keep it up! you will hit plataeus, we all do, but don't let that get you down or make you think the band is not working for you. you will lose inches before pounds. there is an almost 2 month "lag time" between inches lost and lbs lost. i am down 4 dress sizes now. i just my weight loss on my clothes, not the scale anymore. it is easy to get obsessed with that scale.

    Water

try the crystal light packets, makes it easier to drink the water you need.
  6. 6 weeks is a long time. I waited 2 weeks, that is what the nurse and surgeon said. I had a hiatal hernia repair also. just take it easy and you will be fine. on the fill, everyone is different. I had no restriction until my 4th fill. some get restriction immediately. you most likely already have some Fluid in there. focus on healing the first six weeks and not on losing weight.

    still undecided

have you attended a seminar yet? if not, i think you should. you can get alot of information there and maybe that will help you decide what to do. It is not a decision to be taken lightly. good luck with your decision.

    I miss food

i am right there with you. i miss food too. LOL! there are times if i am eating something really yummy, i find myself wishing i could eat more of it. but then i sit back and say "that is how i got to where i was in the first place." i will tell you on my pre-op diet. one night i pigged out at a neighborhood cookout, cause i wanted to eat like there was no tomorrow and i was freaking hungry. but the next day, i got back on my diet and don't regret it one bit. i do miss thick crust pizza, fried foods, but know that they are not good for me banded or not.

Tighter that time of the month?

mine is super tight two days before my period, so just drink liquids for those days and it seems to help with the tightness and bloating.

    Scared to eat....

i know how you feel. the first 6 weeks about healing, not about losing weight. i too was back to eating what i did before i had the first fill. after my fill, i did notice a difference in eating. just watch what you eat, write it down and chew, chew, chew your food. greek yogurt has alot of protein in it. i drink a protein shake in the mornings as i am rarely hungry until 10am.

    Jumped to the other side...

congrats on your new journey to the new you. it is an adjustment to get used to that is for sure. i was not hungry for the first week, but when i was able to have creamy Soups, i was soooooo happy. LOL i still love Soup and broth. i drink liquids on my fill day and the day before my period as it helps with the bloating. just keep following your plan, don't beat yourself up if you make a mistake, you are human, we all make them.

    Have A date

I know how you feel. when i was approved and had my date, i started really freaking out. it was really happening and i was scared. i cried and my husband was not sure what to do with me. LOL! i talked to a good friend who had it done and she talked me off the ledge. There is a reason why you went through the seminar, consultation and researching the lapband. to lose weight and get healthy again. I looked at my children sleeping the night i was approved and knew i wanted to be there to see them grow up, to teach them healthy habits and to live a long life. I knew right then and there that i had to do this as i had tried so many other things and nothing was working for me. i am down 40 lbs in 4.5 months and i feel so good. My goal is to be under 200 by the end of the year. it is normal to be nervous. tell them before surgery how nervous you are and they will give you a sedative. i don't even remember going into the surgery room. sedatives knock me out. i told my husband when i woke up that i never left the room. LOL! i too wish i had done this sooner. i researched it for over a year and now i think back and realize i could have been down to my goal weight by now had i done it then. but i was not ready. sending you hugs and wishing you the best on your new journey

need to get back on track

agree with Brenda. It is so easy to get off of track, it is the bad habits that got us to where we were. but that does not define you at all. i get off track too, but pick myself back up and get back on track. you would not be human if you fell off the wagon you can do this!
  16. i have them during that time of the month. i was horrible this weekend, eating chocolate like crazy.

Anybody else with a really active job?

i was released to go back to work 1 week after my surgery, but was placed on "light duty" as i do alot of walking and sometimes have to lift patients, i work in healthcare. after that one week of light duty, i was back to my normal activities, including working out. just don't lift if you can help it, you will heal soon.

how can I tell when I am full??

eat until you are satisfied, not full as then in 20 minutes you are very full. i know it is hard to judge and it will get easier as you get used to the band. just measure out some food, i eat about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food. i am never hungry in the mornings so i drink a protein drink each morning to make sure i get my protein grams in. some days i am hungrier, some days less. i hope this helps.

    Shortness of Breath

Are you using your Incentive Spirometer they gave you after surgery? It really does help you take a deep breath, keep those lungs popped open and prevent pneumonia and atelectasis. hope it gets better for you. if not, call your doctor.

    Fat Failure

You are not a failure. You have hit a plateau and need a ramp up. When was your last fill? Are you getting enough protein in? Are you exercising? I noticed i started losing again when I upped my protein. i eat 65 to 80 grams of protein a day. i also drink water like crazy. You are doing good. Just need some words of encouragement.

    When to have it

there is still 3 months until the holidays. if you have it now, you will be recovered before thanksgiving comes around. no you won't be everything and be overstuffed. if it was closer to the holidays, i would personally wait, but you still have time to get it done, recover, and eat some regular foods. the choice is up to you.
