    general

i had h pylori 9 yrs ago, and did n't have to have a release. maybe because yours was so recent they want to make sure all is okay. hope that you don't have to have an endo done again.
  2. welcome to LBT. i hope you get good news soon. It is probaly a good thing you had to wait the 6 months as that gave you time to get the information you need to make the decision. it is not one to be taken lightly. it is a lifestyle change, you do have to change you eating habits or it is done for nothing. it is a tool and you have to work with the tool. i am 5 months out and am still learning. good to hear that you have alot of support. welcome to the next step on your new life journey

    A little NSV - I said no!

good job keeping up your willpower and saying no. amazing how people will force food on you. and i don't know if i notice it more now or what. even my family tries to push more food on me. they just don't get that i can only eat a small amount or it will be a nightmare for me.

    More pain day 2. WHY?

the second day is always the worst, anestetic has worn off and now the pain sets in. don't lift, you will pop stitches. just relax and rest. let you body heal.

    Y aren't I hungry?

you are still very swollen, and there most likely a little bit of fluid in the band but won't know until you go in for your first fill. it was about 2 weeks before i was actually "hungry" for food. keep drinking your protein shakes, try getting in the calories, the first few weeks are not about losing, but about healing. you are doing fine. it does get better. before you know it you will be hungry.

    Too tight or sick?

i am thinking your are sick. flu symptoms are headache, bodyaches, fever, cough, nasal congestion. stomach flu is diarrhea and vomiting. you could always call your doctor and ask too.

    Strange....

everyone is intubated for the surgery, but even with the tube being in an hour or so, it can still cause some endotracheal swelling. as long as you are eating and drinking fine, it should not be an issue. i know mine was sore and scratchy for a few days. if you still have concerns, call the doctor.

    First Fill questions

everyone is different. i know i notice a change in a few days. i am 3/4 full so i will only get a little bit here and there, but not every visit. this was my 5th fill and i noticed a huge restriction difference and am losing again. i was at a plateau for a month and it was frustrating. but i have good restriction now. i have seen where some notice it immediately, others a couple of weeks. when you lose weight the fat around the stomach under the band basically melts off and the band gets looser, thus needing to be filled. you have lost a tremendous amount of weight in a short time, that is awesome.
  9. probaly a combination of everything. it takes a little bit to get the anestetic out of your system. your body is adjusting, keep on drinking fluids, try popcicles, and keep drinking protein shakes. it does get better.

    Seminar tonight

my seminar was very informative, lasted almost 2 hours. showed the before and after pics of his patients, what to expect if you do have the surgery and the some of the complications. i didn't not feel like they were trying to sell it to me, just giving me the information i needed to make the decision for me. my surgeon is extremely laid back, not judgemental and full of zen. love him! you are the only one who can decide what is right for you. make a list of the pros and cons of having it and being overweight. good luck to you oh and you can watch a surgery on youtube.com his name is Dr. Malley.

wishing both of you the best and a speedy recovery.

    restriction worries (lack of)

sounds like you need another fill. my nurse explained it to me last week. as you loose weight, the fat around the stomach is basically melting off, thus the band becoming looser and you needing to be filled up more for more restriction. that is why you need several fills. you are not doing anything wrong, just time for another fill.

    Pain on left side

if you are still able to eat and drink and not having reflux, then i would not think it is a slip. i have not had one, so i am not for sure on that. i still get some pain every once in a while and mine was done 5 months ago. i get it if i eat too much or don't chew good. and will have some pain in my left shoulder too, but it goes away. i would mention it to them, but don't think it is something to be alarmed about.

    Feeling like a failure

you are not a failure. you have lost 40 lbs and i am assuming have kept it off. get up and do some moving, walking is great exercise and it is free. when was your last fill? you have had success, might not be what you were aiming for, but you have lost weight and that does count for something.

Having lots of discomfort 1 week after fill

i would call your doctor to just make sure. it could be that you are just too tight and you are swollen now. drink warm liquids for a day or two and see if that helps.
  19. Don't beat yourself up too bad, you are learning. Heck, we are all still learning. I test my limits more than i should. you are fine, we are human and we are not perfect. Would not need this forum or the lapband if we were perfect. Just pick yourself up and move on.

I made it to my first goal

yeah, that is great. congrats to you. keep up the good work.
  22. do not obsess over the scale, it will drive you insane. go by how your clothes fit. there is a 2 month "lag time' between the scale and inches lost. you lose a couple of dress sizes, and it shows in your clothes, but not on the scale. i know it can be frustrating. i have decided to just weigh once a week at the same time. it will get better. just concentrate on healing. my doctor says the first 6 weeks are not about losing weight it is about your body healing and getting used to the band inside.

    so hurt and upset;-(

I would be calling and insisting they do something now! or find another doctor. I just found out that some surgeons are a part of the" Out of Network" for patients who are out of towners or needing new doctors. My surgeon is one of them. They said go to lapband.com and you can find the doctors that are a part of that group there. good luck to you and hope things get better for you soon.
  25. it has been over 4 months for me and i am still afraid to eat nuts. i love almonds, but don't want to get stuck. drink warm liquids for a day, it should get better.
