I am getting discouraged while looking at other posts. I read so much about slippage and rebanding. I have a $15000 cap on my insurance for weight loss surgery. What will happen if I do have slippage or need another surgery? I will be stuck with the cost or with not getting it fixed. I am also having a tough time with my hunger pains. Well maybe not hunger pains...more like "I want to eat the bad stuff!!!" I have 7 days left. Keeping my eyes on the big prize. My kids wanted a pizza the other night. I tried my hardest to stay away. I drank my shake instead. Then while cleaning up the smell got the best of me. I took a bite. Chewed...and spit it out. LOL. I laugh because I was able to enjoy the taste. I need a shock collar. Shock myself everytime I even think about stepping off the path. I have had so many shakes and chicken patties I want to cry. LOL. Or laugh deliriously. LOL.

My surgery is on 3/24/11. I am so excited and a little nervous. Since I have a few days to plan my menus for the next two weeks of pre-op. I need some suggestions for the menu. I am really bad at this planning part. I have 3 kids under 8 and they all eat different things so I usually just eat what they do. Please help. Please please help. I will be doing the adkins diet. Small lunch and small supper. Thanks.

Do not want to discourage anyone, but I am in so much pain. Surgery was yesterday. Gas pains and stomache pains are horrible. And a little nausea too. Doctor and friends were totally pouring sugar on the details.

I do feel better this morning. I have no regrets about having it done. Just did not realize this would hurt so darn bad. I have had surgery before but it was lower. Still have a wave of pain that starts at my belly button and ends at my shoulders. I pray that I do not slip my band with getting sick. Can not wait til my "skinny" jeans become my fat jeans. Now, my hubby took off til Tuesday. So between you, me and everyone else on this site.....I will milk it for another day. Shhhhhhuuuuuusssshhhhh! Please?

Same to you.

What do I tell my kids about mommy having surgery? I have three under eight years old. I do not want to tell my kids that I am having lapband. Or should I tell them? They are staying at my parents house the night before and will go to school from there. My mother thinks I should tell them something. I dont see why it would hurt to not tell them.

Adkins Diet Menu Suggestions
MOMIOF3CV replied to MOMIOF3CV's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on liquids with two meals a day. They said to stick with low cars/high protein and get suggestions from the atkins diet. So, I am doing a shake for breakfast and snack. Chicken breast from Micky D's for lunch and a chicken breast and salad for supper. If I am really busy I do a shake all day. I only have two more days on this diet. My surgery is Thursday. Yay!!!!! I am down 9 lbs. Would be more but I am still having a diet coke once a day.....maybe 6 oz today. Going off completely tomorrow. Gonna miss my Diet C. But sooooo gonna love my new body. -
Thank you. That is exactly how I feel. I do not want them to focus on "fat", "weight surgery" and to be healthy. I do not want them getting the wrong opinion. "Fat" is an ugly word in our house. They have learned that there really is not a nice way to use that word without hurting someones feelings. I told my oldest last night that they were going to stay with their grandparents Wednesday night because mommy has a doctors appointment on Thursday morning very early. I told her that the doctor was going to do surgery on mommy to make me feel better and more healthy. She was unhappy that I was going in for another surgery. I had one last month for female probs. But she seem to be ok with it for the most part. I am taking her to the pedi tomorrow and I plan on asking opinion on a more defined explanation. Thanks so much.

MOMIOF3CV replied to MOMIOF3CV's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am trying out calorie counter right now. Thanks for all of your suggestions. -
Thank you for the advice. I do know a few people that have had success and a few that have not. I want to be the success story. I have kids to live for. Even if they drive me crazy all of the time.

Thank you all for your advice. I will tell them but I just will not go into the whole weight loss issue. I dont want to give them the wrong views. They are smart and they will help. Thank you all.

DROID AP FOR FOOD LOG??? ANYONE HAVE ONE???
MOMIOF3CV replied to MOMIOF3CV's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I will check it out. Thanks. -
Thanks so much. I just did not think it was proper to tell my 8 yr old it was so mommy would lose weight, like my mother insisted on. MOTHERS... Telling them it would be to help mommy feel better and healther is perfect. I have battled cholesterol for the last 20 yrs. I do not want to end up like my parents, heart attacks and poor health. I want to be here for my kids and hubby for many years to come. Like many others...I am tired of being dependent on meds and battling against food. And never winning. Soooo excited....8 more days. YAY!!!

I can not believe the date is just around the corner. I was going to start my diet today, two days early, but we had field day at my kids school. I did really good til I had to pick up lunch for the class. It was pizza. I sat there and had my salad. Then.....I could not stand it. I had to have a piece. Good thing my diet date is not til Friday.

MOMIOF3CV replied to MOMIOF3CV's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good luck to you. I am on my second day. Was good all day until I got home. Now I want to snack. -
I am scheduled for banding on March 24th. I will start my pre-op diet this Friday. I am a bit nervous. More so for the pre-op diet. I am doing this for my children. I have had high cholesterol since I was 20, I am now 37. I want to be here for my children for many years to come. I never thought I would have a date set. I have been wanting this for two years and finally have everything approved and lined up. Soooooo ready. Just need to make a menu for the next two weeks. I can have a shake for Breakfast and a morning snack. Small light lunch and supper. Adkins diet.

Banding on March 24th!!! Yay!!!
MOMIOF3CV replied to MOMIOF3CV's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I will. I started it today. Still trying to figure out what I can have. Kids are not giving enough time to read everything. I have my appt on Monday for the preop visit. Hoping to find more out then. So far I have done 3 shakes, peanuts and ordered a dry...grilled chicken sandwich from burger king and tossed the bun. Had two cokes today. Starting officially tomorrow. When my tummy started to growl between my first and second shake...I drank the second and took all my Vitamins and drank Water. Took care of it. -
Surgery Date Set! Any fellow SoCalers out there?
MOMIOF3CV replied to awinner's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
March 24th, Texas. shake for Breakfast, snack and a light lunch and supper. Having issues trying to find stuff to make. Have 3 kids that like 3 different meals. Picky eaters. Hoping to change all of their bad habits along with mine. Good luck to us all. After trying everything else, this is my last resort. I wanted the gastric sleeve but you know insurance. So here I go. Just trying not to get discouraged by all of those out there that have had it done and still seem to be struggling with their weight. -
