Help!!! Discomfort and vomiting. Am I on the right track?
Reesh replied to Curlycat3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just went thru basically the same thing as you. I was banded in 2007. I didn't need to get a fill for a year and a half. But then this past August, I had problems vomiting and it got so bad, like you I didn't want to eat for fear of having another episode. It got so bad, I finally went to my surgeon and he told me the more we vomit, the tighter our stomach gets, sorry can't remember exactly what he said but it's not good. So he took all the Fluid out which I have to be honest for me was not a good thing. I was then able to eat anything and everything and ended up gaining 18lbs. This was something I told myself I would never do, but I did!! I encourage you to go back to yr surgeon. Something is not right if she is telling you that you are fine. My dr. told me that I shouldn't have more than 2 episodes a month of vomiting and if I do, make sure I get myself back in his office. Yesterday, I got a 4cc fill and I am on Stage 1 once again. Please be careful...your very important and let the dr. know that!!! Good Luck!!:w00t: -
Regarding how much the fills are, you will also be paying the radiologist for the fluoroscope but to be honest it has been so long, I can't remember exactly how much and like I said before Dr. Nussbaum's staff will work with you. My insurance doesn't cover Dr. N. but he only takes what the insurance company pays. Regarding a nutritionist, call his office or you can call St. Barnabas. The hospital staff were wonderful. Good Luck!!!

the only thing you will be responsible for is yr fills and whatever yr insurance pays, that's all he will take. Don't worry so much!!!!

Dr. Nussbaum is not money hungry, he cares about us and wants us all well. I owe them at least $500 since last year, got one bill from them and they are not hounding me. I know how you feel I was out of work as well as my husband for almost a year and didn't know how I was ever going to pay my bills. They are very good, they will put you on a payment plan if you ask them and explain yr situation, they will make it as easy as possible for you. I only received that one bill, and haven't heard from them since. But I intend to pay them back as soon as I have the funds. I'm going for a fill end of July and will pay them what I can. My insurance doesn't cover Dr. Nussbaum - I have new insurance since I had the surgery. Don't worry about the money, just do this for yourself, you'll thank yourself and all those who support you that you f inally took care of #1 - yourself!! You deserve it!

Wow!!! I wish I knew that last night, I went to a Christmas party and had 1 chicken wing and about 2 tablespoons of baked beans and threw up about 6 times. I never knew pineapple juice would do the trick. I'm going out tomorrow and keeping at least 2 cans in my pocketbook. It's very embarrassing when you keep walking out of someone's house and puking all over their front lawn!

Has anyone had their C-PAP settings lowered since losing weight?
Reesh replied to MelanieJayne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, like you I have sleep apnea, my dr. told me when I hit 165lbs, I should have another sleep study and most likely will be off the machine. I have lost 64lbs so far and I had my surgery in March. You should talk with yr dr. I know just by my sleeping habits that I still need the CPAP. -
Christmas is the Christian celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, who is considered the Son of God, and the savior of all people. With the birth of Christ, Christianity essentially begins; Christmas also celebrates the beginning of Christianity. Today, some argue, Christmas has been corrupted by the commercialism with which it has come to be associated. For the poor, it may well be a time when, to quote Dickens, “want is keenly felt.” Dickens uses this as an argument for practicing charity and “keeping Christmas in our hearts” on every day of the year. However, it can be stated that for the many joyous family celebrations where poverty is not a factor, there are still many where poverty is felt at Christmas, and where families despair that there is not even money to give their children basic necessities as Christmas gifts. Such a thought is sobering when one ponders the Christian message as one of personal sacrifice, kindness to others, and loving our neighbors as ourselves.

I had my 3rd fill in October, and my dr. made me very tight, so tight that I haven't been able to eat anything but soft foods. I can't eat salad, meat...last night I went to a Christmas party and all I had was one chicken wing and about 3tblspoons of baked beans and threw up about 6X...very embarrassing. I'm getting concerned because I don't know what kinds of protein I can have. My intake of food is very little. I had my surgery March 20th and have lost 64lbs so far which I'm very happy about. If anyone has gone thru the same thing as me, I will take any suggestions on how to get more protein in my diet. Thank you.

I was 307 when I was banded in March 07, I am now 250, I went from a size 28 to 18-20, feeling great. My goal is to lose 100 more, get rid of my cpap, and begin to look like the person God created me to be. My children have never seen me thin and that is one of my goals. I gave all my clothes away and today went shopping and even fit into a 14-16, it was a little snug around the hips but before I wouldn't even think of trying it on. If I can do it, you can do it too!!! Good Luck!!!!

What is a comfy bike? I have been wanting to ride but a bit scared of falling since I had knee replacement surgery on both knees - I've been walking but I would much rather ride.

Tricia, your situation is unbelievable, my only suggestion is pay $5/month, then it won't go on yr credit report because u are paying them something. Good Luck!!!

Try some warm tea or warm soup, that makes the gas come down and out...at least that's what I was told and it worked for me.
