  1. Hi everyone, I am 7 months out and doing fairly well until recently. I have this almost constant ache, almost like pulling a muscle , just a little left and down from the sternom. My port is on the right side, and for a few months after my surgery I had a lot of discomfort on my left side, mostly my shoulder. Im not sure what's going on.. and being as that my doctor is 3 hours away (just recently moved) I know when I call tomorrow morning they'll tell me to come in.. and that's not really a possiblilty right now. Has anyone else had these pains? What did it turn out to be? Thanks for any info.. the first couple days I figured it'd go away but now im a little worried!!

  2. Well, I am a little over two months out. I have lost 27lbs.. I've had 3 fills. The first was 2ccs. Then 1cc. And yesterday, my fill was only 1/2cc. However up until yesterday I felt a slight restriction.. but not like today. I know everyones number is different. What im wondering is if this really tight feeling, only being able to sip water/isopure, My sweet spot? Or does it mean I might need a little out? Will it stay this tight or will it loosen up a little in the days to come? Im not terribly worried since I can get Water and shakes down... And im only liquids for the rest of today and mushys tomorrow. What can I expect in the days to come?? Any info is appreciated! Thanks :)

  3. Thanks guys!! Yeah, im pretty sure its just my port. I was so concerned because I was having a lot of pain on my left side down lower and I had believed that was where my port was. So when I felt it higher up on my right side, I was a little worried. But I have my follow~up today in a few hours and hopefully my surgeon will confirm that for me. Thanks for all the kind responses!

  4. Hello! I was banded March 24th, and now that the swelling has gone down... when im laying straight on my back I can feel a hard "something" under my skin. Is this the port or something else? Maybe im being paranoid with all the talk of hernias and stuff. I have an appointment for my follow up tomorrow,, but id really like some piece of mind tonight.. Since im pretty sure sleep wont be easy. Thanks!

  5. Thanks grni77 for posting that! I was banded March 24th.. and im having the same problem and thought it was normal. Last night I was finally able to pass gas and im already feeling better. But im still having a hard time with the bubble that's coming up then going back down, then there's a large pressure on my upper chest and I have to take a few deep breaths before it goes away. Obviously I have to wait until tomorrow morning to call my drs office and get some answers. Im really hoping they'll have an easy remedy. For the two of you, were you having this problem on the post op clear liquid diet? That's what im on. Nothing but Isopure and water.. I could have other things but honestly that is hard enough to get down. Surgery day I was down 13 pounds, and I've lost another 6lbs since being home. Is anyone else having lots of back pain? Im about out of the liquid vicodin they perscribed and im kinda scared of how ill cope when its gone. Any info would be appreciated!

  6. Hello everyone! Started my two day clear liquid diet today. Will be banded 3.24.11. Getting a little anxious, not to mention im starving! Im definitely ready to start this process, and start losing! So, my question is for all of you who have already had the procedure done, How was the first week post-op? As far as drinking stuff.. Did you still feel hungry? I've seen a lot of people talking about gas issues etc.. Is there any other side effects you've experienced? Any info that I can't get from the booklets or mysurgeon would be appreciated! And good luck to all my fellow March bandsters!

  7. Thanks for the ideas! Yeah, my husband had to take leave, it was almost harder fighting with the Navy for his leave, then getting Tricare to cover the surgery! Are you on the 2 week pre-op diet as well? Ive seen some here say they have no pre-op diet, or only a 2 day one. But thanks for the tips, ill be looking those up before my pre-op appt with my surgeon tomorrow! Good luck to you!

I'm a Navy wife too, hubby only got 2 days off work (and he had to use leave) but thankfully my Mom will be here to help me. I work full time but am taking 2 weeks off. I bought some low carb slim fast at Sams Club and some low carb Protein powder from Amazon. For Vitamins I'm using the Ecodrink, it was $20 for a 30 day supply at costco, you mix with 16 oz of Water and comes with a little bottle, sugar free of course. I've spent hours watching youtube videos and someone had recommended taking a chewable Fiber pill, Omega 3 (fish oil or flaxseed oil) and chewable papaya enzymes (helps break down the food if it gets stuck).

  8. Hello! Im in Connecticut, My surgery date is March 24th. My surgeon is Ehrlich. Im definitely getting excited! I am a little nervous, since my husband is military he was only able to get 5 days off after my surgery, and I have one son who is almost 3. Those of you who recently had the surgery, how is your recovery? Are you able to do normal household chores etc,. around 5 days out? My surgeon has me on a 2 week pre-op diet, thats mostly the Protein Shakes. However, what do you guys use? He has his own brand of shakes, but they are a little pricey, same with the Vitamins. There has to be an alternative. Any info would be appreciated! Good luck to all my fellow March 2011 banders!!
