2 Months And Stalled Already?
gunning2005 replied to lapbandsurvivor's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hang in there! I was sleeved on 10/17/11.. dropped 25 lbs immediately.. then was stuck at 201 for 3 weeks!!! 201!! That was a mind trip trying to get into 100's.. I upped my proteins and lowered my carbs, then weight loss started picking up again.. I am losing an average of 1-4 lbs a week (depending on how much I exercise). Some days I wander if it was worth it, then I realize how good I feel and how inspirational I have become to others watching my progress. Just keep treading on! -
17th - 20th Sleevers

Hi Ladies, Almost 2 weeks out and I am feeling much better too. I am not experiencing any pain and seem to be tolerating most foods. Dairy products make me a little nauseous, so I am steering clear of those for awhile. I am having the exact opposite problem in the means of diarrhea. It's been almost two weeks since I have been able to go to the bathroom??? Dr. just suggested I use collace.. which hasn't worked. I really didn't know what to expect actually. Makes me a little nervous. Exercising is going great.. Dr. says I have to wait another two weeks to be cleared for heavy exercise again.. I can't wait!! Keep up the good work everyone! Our 1 month is coming up quickly.. I think everyone will be SOO happy!! -
Day 4 - Post Op - getting harder, not easier
gunning2005 replied to Sleevie WonderLand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! You can dump that in an ounce of warm tea and take it.. I was told not to take any capsules, to open them and put them in something I can tolerate.. I put mine in my yogurt for lunch. Warm tea is what I used to drink when food would get stuck (I had pretty bad acid reflux for years).. It seemed to relax the muscles and help reduce swelling.. Hang in there! -
Day 4 - Post Op - getting harder, not easier
gunning2005 replied to Sleevie WonderLand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take it with some warm tea.. the warm liquids seems to ease my pain and help me take my pills.. I was just sleeved on the 17th.. not even a week out.. I hear you on those spasms.. they suck.. keep your head up.. when you start seeing those major results rolling in the next few weeks you will be glad you did it. Today I made cupcakes with homemade butter cream frosting for my family.. and I almost.. almost just licked the frosting right off the top of one.. ugh.. would have been sooooo gooood.. but I would have suffered a looooong time Keep it up and keep up with this forum.. helps me stay motivated! -
17th - 20th Sleevers
gunning2005 replied to Soon2BMiniMommy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was also sleeved on Oct 17th.. woohoo!! Day 1 - I HATED myself for having to do this.. Day 2 much better.. I had a mandatory 4 day stay in the hospital.. which I did appreciate since they were better able to control my pain that way.. by Yesterday I was packed and ready by the time my bariatric team came to visit me at 7am! I am also feeling really bloated! I can already tell a huge difference in the way I feel in general about food.. I have been cooking like crazy for my family today (5 kids and a husband) and have not been tempted in the least to even try a bite.. not only am I not hungry.. but I am not having cravings!! THAT IS AWESOME! I am so glad I did this... I can't wait to get back in the gym in a couple weeks and get this show on the road.. I have a goal to meet before my 30th Birthday next month!! -
Yeah!! Good luck! Mine is tomorrow too.. so excited

2 days on pre-op diet STARVING
gunning2005 replied to kim219's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 12 and just now feeling less starved than the first week and a half.. Its all mental. I did great on my supervised diet until I was told to start my 2 week preop.. ALL down hill.. I woke up starving.. tired.. and nothing was different Just hang in there.. I agree with vf59.. high protein, less carbs.. carbs make you hungry.. protein gives you a sense of fullness.. and keep checking in on this forum.. it has been a HUGE motivational factor for me to read up on stories and responses.. hang in there!!! -
Time till approval?
gunning2005 replied to Bariatric Barry's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took 3 days for them to deny me (BCBS), but also 3 days to approve my appeal submitted a month later.. the letter of approval takes the longest (about 2 weeks).. I would keep calling. Once approved asked for the approval code and let your Dr.'s office know.. sometimes they will proceed with scheduling with that approval code before they get the official letter. Faith is powerful for sure Hope you hear your good news soon!! -
Haha! That is funny.. I try to avoid situations that may bring on the temptations of 'cheating' on the pre-op, but I'm a stay home mother of 5 and married to a personal trainer who eats like a horse.. I had broke the habit of nibbling while preparing meals and standing when I eat.. etc... but this preop seemed to be my ultimate test.. and I feel like I failed! However, I know how important it is and I still have 10 days before surgery.. I AM SO EXCITED!!!! P.S. for anyone interested in reading about changing eating behaviors, I would recommend the Beck Diet.. it isn't a "diet" book per say.. but more of a behavior modification in regards to food. It has helped me change a lot of my bad habits and made me consciously aware of the ones I have yet to break!

I had been doing so well.. since I started my journey in pursuing the lap-band, later deciding to go with VSG procedure, I have made the behavior changes to my eating habits with stride. I have lost 40lbs since my first appt in January 2011, which is when I started this journey. I was initially denied by insurance 6 weeks ago but found out Monday I had been approved.. I was put on pre-op diet that morning for surgery Oct. 17th. Now all of a sudden I am STARVING.. its like once I was told to not eat anything but what is on a limited list of food items, my brain went back to its primitive form and I want to eat all the time.. Anyone have any ideas.. I understand the purpose of the pre-op diet, and I know I must stick to it the best I can.... but are there any suggestions one might have for getting over those mental food attacks?! Thanks in advance! HW 270, CW 227, surgery date scheduled Oct 17, 2011

Thanks for the reply and suggestion.. taking that, I think I will set aside a few things to do during these fits! Its nice to know that the diet doesn't has to be executed perfectly.. in any case, I will try my best again today!

Seminar tomorrow in Springfield, IL
gunning2005 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello! I am really excited about this forum.. glad I found it. Many topics have covered the questions I had going into this. Tomorrow is my initial seminar at Springfield Memorial Bariatric seminar. I am currently 256 and 5'7". I have struggled with my weight since I was 17. I am hopeful that this process of being approved through BCBSil PPO won't be too painful. I have been highly motivated for years.. with 5 kids and recently my husband has departed the military and we are back into civilian life again. I have lost 60 pounds in the past on my own, then gained it all back.. lost 40 and then gained it back and more.. my highest was 270 in 2009.. another pregnancy, lost weight, and its back! I really look at this procedure as a tool to help meet my goal. I pray all goes well.. I feel like I disappoint my husband and children because I am such a healthy eater/exercise advocate, but I can't manage to stay healthy myself! This is my first step. I pray I have even more hope after tomorrow's seminar and I can get through all of this quickly so I can begin my new life! I want to run a half marathon by the time I am 30.. I have 8 months and 24 days! Anyone have experience with BCBSil PPO and Springfield Bariatric? I would love to hear your experiences! Highest Weight 270 Current Weight 256 Goal Weight 145
