    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

I was banded on Mar 15,,, went to see the dr on June 29,,, 45.3 pounds lost,,,I was really pleased,,,so was my dr. I had my first fill a month ago,,, 6 cc at that time,,, he added 1/2 cc more and said it sounded that I was pretty close to where I needed to be. I know that my next 55 pounds won't go nearly as fast,,, but I am really encouraged!!!
  3. I was lucky and was sent for a nuclear stress test on the same day as my pre op testing,,, then had to go thru a cardiac cath a week later, but all went well, and I had my surgery on schedule,,, Mar. 15. I am so glad things went as they did,,, and I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you!!! Best of luck!!! Rosie

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

I went for my first fill on Wed, but the dr said I had a hematoma beneath my port, and he couldn't get it right, so this first time, (and hopefully the only time) I am going to have to go and have it done at the hospital with the xray thing,,, But I had lost 21 pounds since my surgery. I am getting hungry between meals, but am really trying to ignore it! If I get hungry and it isn't time, I will drink extra water. The dietician asked me if I could eat more than a cup and a half per meal, and I told her I didn't know,,, the book they gave me said not to, so I make sure I usually only have a cup. My daughter had bypass surgery a couple of years ago, and the weight just fell off her... but I know this is going to take longer,,, but that is fine,,, I have plenty of time! Thanks to everyone that shares out here,,, it is soooo nice to know that I am not going thru this alone...I am about 110 miles from my clinic, so going to a regular support group really isn't possible! Have a great Easter every one!!!!! Rosie

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

I had some chocolate fudge power pudding (jello instant made with 1 percent with powdered milk added) It was soooo good,,, made me feel like I was doing something I shouldn't have. I still have another week on soft foods,,, omelets with cheese,,, refried beans,,, oatmeal,,, then watch out,,, I am having some tilapia!!! Each doctor has their own after surgery rules. I got banded on Mar 15 too,,, and have lost 11 pounds,,,and will go back on April 20 for my first fill. Am soooo glad I had it done!!! Rosie

    March 2011 Bandsters

I was banded on Mar 15,,, had my first pre-op and was down only 7 pounds,,, but I had to first lose all of the weight from the IVs. I am not disappointed at all. Am going back to work tomorrow, but not sure how I will get along without my afternoon nap,,,LOL,,, I did have a scrambled egg with cheese for breakfast and ate the whole thing. Will be on soft - pureed foods for the next 10 days,,, and will go back on April 20 for my first fill. Things have been pretty uneventful for me which is a good thing!!! I do love to read all of the postings out here to find out what everyone else is going thru,,, thanks to you all for the info,,, and good luck to all who w3ill be banded in the near future. Have a great day!!!!! Rosie

    March 2011 Bandsters

Thanks for all of the info Marcy,,,I haven't been quite so brave as you... tomorrow I get to start on pureed foods,,, that means I can have some oatmeal, or a scrambled egg!!! My dr has me on that for 2 weeks. I am not going back to work til the 28th and have a follow-up with my dr on the 25th. In the mean time, I walk as much asd possible, and only take pain meds at nite,,,but gonna try without any tonite. I feel just like you that this band is going to be a great tool. My daughter had RNY a couple of yerars ago, but I didn't want to do that to my body. I am drinking all of the time it seems,,, Again,,, thanks for the info,,, and I will keep watching your posts,,,Hope your walk was nice,,, Take care,,, Rosie

    March 2011 Bandsters

I am not sure if this is normal, but I was banded on the 15th and came out of the hospitqal weighing more than when I went in,,, It has taken me until this morning to get back down to my weight the morning of banding,,, strange. I have been following the liquid diet to a "T" but now am wondering what will happen when I start on pureed food tomorrow. Think I will just try getting an extra walk or two in each day,,,Was just wondering if anyone else had this problem? No matter,,, I am still happy I had it done! Rosie

Every thing went well for me too! I had surgery Tuesday morning, but my dr required an overnite stay. Got home about noon today, and so far so good. Drinking Isopure for protien and doing as much walking as possible. Will hold off on pain meds till closer to bed time!!! Heading to the kitchen to make some sugar free jello!!! I am not going to worry about my scales for a few days,,, Every one having surgery tomorrow,,, good luck,,, and I will check back tomorrow,,, Rosie
  13. Congratulations!!! And the 21st is just a hop skip and a jump away!!!

  15. I was really concerned when I had to do mine,,,but things went well,,, and I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you for sure!!! One good thing is that the dr can say,,, "I didn't find any blockages" and that was music to my ears! Good luck!!!

    March 2011 Bandsters

I will be joining all of you "March"ing bandsters too,,,, having my surgery on March 15,,, and I am soooo excited!!! I will be using Isopure for half of my protien each day,,, 40 grams in a 20 oz bottle,,, and the grape tastes great. Going tomorrow to get some more flavors. My daughter had RNY a couple of years ago and did great, but with me being older, I didn't want to do something that drastic. Banding is going to be great for me. I only have 1 day of Clear liquids before surgery. I have seen so many success stories out here, and I know that we are all going to do that well. So,,, for all of us,,, Good Luck!!!!
  17. on Mar 1 they did my pre-op and ended up doing the nuclear stress test,,, called the next day and said there was an abnormality and they wanted to do a cardiac cath before surgical clearance,,, went for that on Tuesday the 8th and they told me if they had to do a stent it would put my surgery back 4 weeks,,,but Hallelujah!!!! no blockages, and I am having surgert on the 15th!!!! Gonna say prayers that you have a good outcome and can have your surgery on time,,,
