  1. So, I just had Lap Band surgery on February 21, I'm still on a full liquid diet that I've been doing a good job of following strictly. while I was still in the hospital, I had an and, um, shit my pants/hospital bed. I was on Clear Liquids and had actually just started taking anything other than ice chips by mouth that evening--it was my second of 2 nights in the hospital (I spent 2 nights in the hospital because my IV wasn't working the first day and I was behind on fluids). When I got home on day 3, I continued to have diahrrea for the next 12-24 hours, but since then i've been pretty much "regular" I started on a full liquid diet the day I got home from the hospital as my doctor had advised me. I have been strict about it with no real changes to what I'm consuming. This morning, I made a smoothie with Protein Powder, unsweetened soymilk, cocoa powder, about 1/4 of a banana, a tablespoon of Peanut Butter, and the last little bit of a low carb slim fast (like less than 1/4 cup's worth). I have made this exact same smoothie before, but never put the slim fast in before--I just put it in because I had a little leftover from Monday and didn't want it to go to waste. but so about an hour or so after I finished it (it probably took me like 45 minutes to finish it since it ended up being a little bigger than 1/2 cup), I once again shit my pants (for the first time since the hospital and it was the first time i had had diarrhea since that first day I was home from the hospital. So I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this--I don't normally have accidents like that when I didn't just have surgery, I'm 26 and in very good health--I'm not sure if this is just some kind of fluke, or if it's something I ate or did wrong. The night before I had Soup for dinner and mixed in a little bit of greek yogurt (for protien and also because I like it). The only other thing I can think of is that the slim fast has sugar alcohols in it, which maybe could have caused this. anyway, I will bring it up with my doctor if it happens again, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any feedback

    Tattoos!

I'd be curious to know too as I also have a lot of tattoos. I figure I can always get them touched up/added to/covered up if they look too weird/bad after I lose weight. But yeah, I've been thinking about investing in some kind of skin firming lotion to use as I lose weight, but I still need to look into that (I know strivectin works really well but it's *really* pricey, I know vitamin e is supposed to work too, but I don't know)

    embarassing question

I had a similar thing the second night after surgery--the nurses said it was because of the swallow test--but honestly, I have had a lot of surgery and end up having uncontrollable diarrhea every time, usually somewhere around the day after surgery, so I suspect it probably has something to do with the anesthetic or all the meds they give you too (my other surgeries had nothing to do with my digestive tract). Things have been pretty much fine and under control since, except it happened to me again yesterday (I had surgery 2/21, so I'm a week and a half post-op)

    incontinence?

glad you could laugh at my expense (sort of kidding). like i said, this is not normally a problem with me, that's why it's a concern, since making it to the bathroom in time wasn't the issue, I didn't realize i had to go till it happened. embarrassing, I know.

    Sex

fat cells produce estrogen, and having excess estrogen lowers your sex drive (it's actually more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it). Guys who are bigger often have low testosterone levels, which is easily treated by testosterone therapy (it does more than just balance your sex drive, but that's an added bonus). You can get it either through a gel, which you apply to the skin every day, a patch, a weekly injection, or a pellet that you get implanted every 4-6 months. I have low testosterone (not related to being overweight, it's a congenital thing, so i will need to be treated for it even after I lose all the weight)--I took weekly injections for a long time because they are much more affordable, but recently got the pellet implant which my urologist did in-office with a local anesthetic--it was painless and is great because I only have to think about a couple times a year. I have no idea about how higher estrogen levels due to higher percentages of body fat in women effect their sex drive (I just know so much about the male stuff since I've had to deal with it personally--I have heard that higher estrogen levels can increase your risk of breast cancer, but most people know that). You'd have to talk to an endocrinologist, but low sex drive could be related to a hormonal thing. and I do know women are supposed to have some amount of testosterone, which, if it's being drowned out by higher estrogen levels, could be responsible for a lack of sex drive--you can have your PCP do bloodwork to check your hormone levels and if they are abnormal, discuss options to level out your hormones (which could help your sex drive)
