Sue When we are BOTH on next time lets go into the chat room and we will both open up seperate windows and do the ticker thing together, it takes about 5 minutes, because the phone bill from Russia would be enormous. Chris is another bander on a local thread in Reno, Nevada. He does not blog as much as Gail and I do.

Kye: The nose drip wthing will resolve itself, give it a week and it will go away, so don't think it is forever.
-
No I did not have to show a list of food that I was eating. However Dr. K. did ask what I was eating and he said to start keeping track of everything that goes in my mouth, by calorie, fat and protein. I am curious on what Dr. G will tell you that you can eat, compared to what Dr. K. told me I "should" be eating.
-
I think if you added up everything you ate today, that you are still under 1500 calories which IMHO would be a max that we should eat. Sometimes because we think that dieting is so rough, that we "set our selves up" to be unforgiving for our minor tiny little slips (slips not fall off and break, just a little slip)

Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

Synical I am amazed you posted that about the loose skin. Of course we are going to have looose skin. And that is what we ALL need to be saving up for. And JUst FYI, the loose skin also weighs weight on the scale, so in reality, when we getour tummy tucks we will be losing even more weight on the operating table. Go look at the before and after pix. I know I will never do a bikini, but at 43, I don't want to be in a bikini, that is showing too much skin for me. Just FYI too! Every woman who has had a baby has an apron, it just probably is not thick like usheavy woman have, so when we lose more weight our heavy apron will be less heavy too. -
I have a HUGE tip for people who are allowed to eat really good food; maybe I should be posting in February. Go to the frozen vegtable section, and in the little boxes of frozen food, there are steam pouches in boxes, and tonight I ate snap peas with red peppers and potatoes (only two potatoes) OMG perfectly seasoned and it was a snap to fix, slapped it into the micro and it was perfectly prepared, I also ate a few bites of seared ahi tuna. This meal was probably one of the first that I think I ate within correct portions (about 1/4-1/2 cup of food). I chewed chewed chewed chewed. But it was like being in a fine restaurant good.

So Glogirl; I am always afraid to post my real tru 'possible stretching the rules advice" and then you backed me with that chicken breast! Right on! I am afraid one day I will get a really ugly PM criticizing my ideas, but at least I am "real". So when you feel that rock feeling, you should have chewed alot better or swallowed a smaller bite. That is what I call the swallowed an ice cube feeling, then it goes away after you get up and walk around and flap your arms and take some deep breathes. So what did you eat? IS it that you ate the wrong food or toooooo much food? Do you feel restriction? Have you felt the thanksgiving full feeling yet?
-
Gail Was the protein bar from fresh energy? was it good? I am assuming you chewed chewed chewed. Did you read Chris post? he I think PB'd a couple times from food and he's trying to play it safe. The Dr. told him it was a tight squeeze to put that band on him. I am not experencing any restriction but eating much much much much much less than normally, not losing as much as I would have liked to. Have you seen the gals over in Feb bandster group? Wow they are just a couple days earlier than me and have lost 20+ pounds since surgery. I will get there I am not discouraged, I just will take the little side detours along the way.
-
miss Gail; Yes I am back... I am sooooo glad to be home, I am really a home body. I totally overate when I was gone. So when you overate or even ate the sequestered foods didyou experience any pain? I think you would have said so if you did. Then no harm done
-
Well, I too had the same problem, and my Nutritionist told me to add a 1/2 chick breast or 3 -4 ounces of Protein to keep me from the starvation feeling.
-
CVADEN: Yes! I was banded 3/1 and I have that same band, and I am exactly like you I can eat anything and everything and I can even gulp fluids, I can eat bread and nothing sticks, nothing een close to sticking. I know he placed the band, because I saw an xray but that is the ONLY reason I think I am banded. I don't think I have experienced "full". I have experienced "not hungry anymore" after eating a smaller amount than usual, but don't know if that is all "mental".
-
So with this being said, what are you eating for your meals? I get my protein from protein supplement shakes and I think that is a fabulous idea, and they are very tasty, and I like that he suggested to spread them out throughout the day, because that way my protein needs are always met. But what are you "eating" as your meals? Thank you for sharing~!
-
Kathy: Congrats!!!!!! WOW!!! Do you feel restriction? What are you eating in a typical day?
-
kyethra; My vote would be: If the ice cream would br cranberry, it would be medicinal. Better yet, what about calling your local soft serve yogurt shop and ask them if they have low fat cranberry yogurt?
-
Well congratulations!!!! Woohooo! If it is taking you 5-7 minutes to drink 1 cup of chick broth it is way to hot for you to drink so you are blowing on it or you have restriction and don't even know it. It would take me about 1 minute to drink 1 cup. Read tammy and my notes a few posts up going back and forth about our lack of restriction, maybe you can join our "club" Yes, out of breath thing is protocol from surgery, it will go away day 3-4-5, just about the time the gas skeletol pains show up in your upper left chest. If the soy Protein makes your chick broth taste bad try something else that tastes good, but make sure you drink your 64 oz. of liquid to stay hydrated. Funny you should mention your nose. Right after surgery for several days my nose "ran". My nose NEVER "runs". I never blow my nose (maybe once a year maybe). That is interesting! Keep me posted on your progress, and restriction.

14 pounds in 4 days? What is your secret? If you lost that kind of weight you better start drinking alot of water, I think you may be dehydrated, that is ALOT of weight in 4 days, especially 4 days post op. Drink, drink, drink right now...that kind of weight loss that quick makes me nervous.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Next week starts a new life for you, what an incredible feeling.... It is early enough in Spring to feel good, the days are longer, it is going to be the best thing you have ever done for yourself. You are going to love to go shopping for new clothes, just think of a whole new you... Tips: Heating pad, hot water bottle, pain meds (at hand), tylenol, walk, walk, walk. Drink, drink, drink. That is all you need, the surgery is very very very simple, your stiches are not going to hurt. Your port will be tender, you won't be able to sleep on your left side for a couple days (I slept on my left side 3 hours post op, and have ever since). You won't be hungry for a couple days, but your body needs nurishment and hydration so drink to feed your body. I am so excited on your behalf....I would do it for you if I could, and go to work right after.
-
Cindy Yes it is harder for some verses others, depending on so many factors. Hang in there, you are only a couple days post op, from here it gets substantially better each day. Just hang in there! Liquid tylenol, heating pad, hot water bottle and walking, OH! how about sipping on some chicken broth? Post later tonight and let me know how you are doing.

Tammy God Bless YOU!!! Finally somebody who I think is "normal" I am getting pretty upset about not having restriction and no pain and thinking I just might be the small percentage of people that this does not work for. The only thing I will not do is "fried chicken" or fried General chicken. Probably never eat that again in my life.... Anything I have ever tried since is "normal". But like you I have the "10" band. So maybe we will get restriction upon fills. Goodness I hope so! Thanks for sharing because I was starting (seriously) to wonder about me and maybe my pain tolerance was so high that I was experiencing pain and did not know it.

Yes she said she lost 100 pounds with gastric bypass since Nov. 2006. The expected weight loss I have heard is 2 pounds a week.

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???
Success in lapband replied to Success in lapband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow! I can eat anything and everything I have no trouble at all. Maybe IF I were having trouble I would be losing weight like you. It is as if the band is not even there.... I know you got a real "tight" squeeze band from DR. Ganser, that is good, mine must be just "floating" like a lose ring. -
Just wanted to share an experience.... I was on vacation in San Diego. While on vacation, I went into a baby store to buy a "spouted" 4 oz.container to better manage my shakes and portion control. While I was looking on the wall for what I was looking for, there was another lady looking for a 2 ounce souted container trying to explain to her sister what she was looking for and it sounded very similiar to what I wanted. They NEVER spoke of weight loss surgery, but the gal was heavy set. She had Gastic bypass surgery and had lost 100# since November 2006! OMG! I initially thought 2005, but NO! it was just 5 months ago. So we chatted for awhile. She initially lost a ton of weight the first 3 months and now it is down to 10# a month. (she only gets to eat 2 ounces of food at atime) She is a BBW and has a way to go before she reaches her goal. But the reason I wanted to share this is that now that her weight loss has stabilized she is losing at a normal lapband rate (for her size), now I am sure if she was a lower BMI lapbander she would not be losing this fast. But I knew there was a post from a gal who was on the fence with lapband and gastric bypass. I think this thought really goes through all of our minds at one time or another. It was great to share stories back and forth with both of our imputs and both felt we did what was "right" for each of us, and both will be successful in our quest of healthier lifestyle.

Scarlett; The runs is normal after any surgery. I have read many many posts and this surgery is not exception. Then a few days after that clears up, you will get stopped up. I think the pain meds is what stopped me up, then one day I finally "went" and lost 4# in 24 hours. It has been "somewhat" normal since then.
