Call your physician assistant for your surgeon and ask if you can have some thinned out cream of wheat or some yogurt. You are 5 days out and I am betting they may say yes, it is worth a try, tell them how you are feeling and the mental crisis you are in. Seriously call them, all they can say is NO, but they will probably say yes.

RE: SOUTH BEACH FROZEN MEALS:::::: I know we are suppose to eat higher protien, and I like to (when I am "in control") eat preportioned frozen lunches. I got a south beach diet lunch and Protein is 10% or more of overall calories ~ which is really high for the frozen healthy Entrees. So my calories would be 290 and the protein is 30!!!! And the taste is phenominal...

Gail: Everything is going good.... I just eat too much to lose weight and I am counting down the days for my first fill~hopefully it helps.... We went out ot McD for breakfast and I had some restriction on a friggin EGG! I think I just did not chew well enough because I don't have restriction. So I had to get up and take deep breaths and then it was over, but it was very interesting. We went out for a friends birthday party last night and I ate 2 pieces of pizza (maybe 3~ can't remember if it was 2 or 3) and I was full ~ full, that was a first! I think I have been dehydrated for awhile~and I am just NOW getting my hydration back~I had the tummy flu for 4-5 days and maybe now that I am hydrated maybe I have (some) restriction only on some days though. I can't wait for my fill~ and I am positive it will help, and we can get this scale back in the correct direction.

Red: 36 pounds that is out of this world! Only 100 to go and your BMI has really gotten low.

My incisions are good and dry, they are RED but look real good. My port does not hurt as much anymore but still sticks out a heck of alot more than I would like, it looks like a 3rd tiny boob. I have gained a couple pounds but as of yesterday will no longer weigh myself because I just can't get depressed. I am eating just like I did prior to Western Bariatrix (which sucks)

Chris Your getting stuck on chicken noodle soup? I don't think they will give you a "fill". I am eating regularly just as before and don't "ever" get full. What part of the soup were you gettin stuck on? Too big of a bite? Haven't you Pb'd a couple times too? I think Ganser gave you a smaller band than Dr. K. gave me. I wish I had restriction. But I have to say the salad bar and sushi bar at Atlantis both were happy to see me back, so was the concession stand at the Cinema.

Janine; Are you "apple" shaped fat? Usually people who are carry most of their fat on the upper body. But interestingly enough can a dr. really justify "if" you diet for 2 weeks that the pounds you lose will come from the liver? I am apple shaped fat and dr. was concerned about how fatty my liver was and to his amazement it was a skinny liver. I too have sleep apnea so had to spend the night in the surgery center because of the anethesia and sleep apnea combo'd. Co incidently my surgery was 2 hours 15 minutes. I know it is only suppose to be 45 minute surgery. I think next week it will be time to trim the rose bushes anyhow so get outside and enjoy the garden.

Gail AND Chris; I gotmy"fill" appt moved to 4/11 exactly 6 weeks after my banding. Get this!!!! I went to my OB/GYN appt today and they said "you've gained weight"! I could not believe it. I am today 4 pounds heavier than I was 1 year ago. However I think I was at my lowest at that point and then started to spike from there. That comment was exactly what pushed me to call Dr. to see if they would move my fill appt; and they did.

Just FYI and maybe completely unrelated; but at times when I am spiking my weight at 280# and I am 5'3" and my blood pressure is not under control unbeknownst to me I have blood in my urine. It is called protein uria (sp?) and it a concern with my doctor and they monitor it and that concerns me which starts me on another yo-yo diet, then it goes away and I stop dieting and I gain all me weight back and the cycle starts again. I also get it if I am attempting to do the Atkins diet. So if you are doing high protein right now~there is your answer. But then again it could be a UI. Both are benign and I think can be dealt with before Friday, drink Cranberry juice.

Take your temperature to make sure you don't have a fever, if you do have one or get one, call your surgeon he may/may not call you in a prescription. You may be getting a cold; completely unrelated to the band. Yes I remember getting the chills, and also my eyes burned (which to me that says fever, but never got one) You went through surgery, I know you are super woman but your body needs to recover. Good for you for taking the next week off of work and then spring break, you will be ready to go when school is back in session. You are still swollen so you should feel "tight" on top, your stomach will always make gurggley noises from now on; mine is making them right now, just the personality of the bands~~~~~~~~~~ Take it easy and relax... enjoy this "down time" Keep us posted...

    Questions from a newbie

Syrah You should make yourself a ticker... Do you know how? That way everybody can see what stage of the process you are at and won't keep asking you the same questions over and over again. They will also send you tips and suggestions because they "remember when" they were at that stage and "X" helped them do something. It is really cool

    Questions from a newbie

Syrah; Every Dr. is different on pre and post diets, ask 5 bandsters and get 5 different diets. Even the doctors within my dr.s office are each different. They did not shave me anywhere, nor did they ask me to shave anywhere.

Yes! Move that gas, that is what you are suppose to do, also use a heating pad. Good for you for walking this much, you will recover quicker too.

Pregnancy I don't know if anybody knows but, our hormones are stored in our fat cells. Which means as your body is ridding itself of fat, we are producing tons and tons of baby making hormones, so ladies you don't want to be pregnant make sure you are WELL protected with birth control. Lots of my friends (non bandsters) have gone to fertility specialists only to have been unsuccessful at pregnancy. For whatever reasons months or years later have lost 40-50 pounds and have gotten the shock of their lives ~ miraculously they were pregnant and had not even been trying.... I am sure your Dr's have all told you to make sure you don't miss your birth control....

Wow, I don't know.... I am apple shape, so all my weight is from hips to shoulders, I have tiny skinny skinny skinny legs. The first place I lost weight was my B**bs, I love it! hmmmm You were banded before me, so maybe you are gaining muscle mass, are you working out? Do you usually retain water in your bra area? OMG! Could you be pregnant? Have you taken a pregnancy test? Maybe... (this is my story) you shrunk your bras in the washer!! LOL. Anybody else have this problem????

Kim every Dr. is 100% completely different. Call your ins. co. and point blank ask them what/if they cover it, if they don't, your next CALL not appointment (appointments are costly, especially if you are paying for them) is to your local WLS to ask how much for him, how much for the hosp, how much for the surgery ctr (usually much lower than hosp), how much for anesthesiologist. Than compare to the Dr's in Mexico; where it seems like alot of bandsters are going. Go talk to babygotback about her Dr. in Mexico ~she and others loved him.

I have been eating solid food from about week 1. I have not had any problems but would not recommend my theory to anybody. Yes I have tried everything and am eating totally normal, sometimes a slightly decreased appetite though.

Magnolia; Post op depression BIG TIME. But: Definately no drink while you eat~bewcause it flushes the pouch and you will not feel full. Apples? I have eaten apples~no problem. Bread~ gets "gummy" in your pouch and so if you have to have bread make sure it is used to slop up the soup or the stew so it is REALLY drenched with liquid so it won't "gum up" in your pouch. Those rules aren't that bad~what else do you have that you are concerned about? And~everybody is different, so I may do okay on apples but somebody else might not do okay. The only problem I have had is fried chicken in a chinese restaurant and I got stuck on a piece so I had to PB. ~This too shall pass....

Sue in Russia; I do have anxiety attacks but I did not panic because I have read these posts and have read and read and read about PBing. So I just went through the motions and kept telling myself I could always go to the hospital IF things got unbearable but I think I knew more about this situation than an ER Dr. I knew it would pass if I could PB.
