    How Bout New Zealand

im only three weeks out so im still on mushies but when i was doing the two weeks of liquids after my surgery i couldn't handle the Optifast shakes they taste gross unless they are really cold which is the only way i got through the pre op was sculling it when it was cold, cant stand it otherwise. lol.
  2. my weight loss has slowed down to. i dont think i have lost anything this week so far but im going to start back at the gym on monday just light to start off with though. i have a one month appt on wednesday next week so i dont know if i will be getting a fill then or not but we'll see
  3. yea i have been having some more solid foods rather then mushies but its all sorta been ok. im a bit to nervous to try to much hard solid foods incase something goes wrong

    How Bout New Zealand

Yea i feel like i havent been on in ages to i dont want it to be like the last time and the forum just fizzled out lol. i need to get into exercise i'll be three weeks out tomorrow and have started to eat mushies im finding that i eat like about a cup of something and then like an hour later im hungry again. i havent weighed in yet since surgery but at home the scales are kinda stuck i think i lost a few kgs since surgery but now there not moving its a bit disheartening. idk if its cos im eating to much or if its cos i havent really started exercise yet or if its cos i have started eating thicker food????????????? All i can think about is food lately its hard any tips, i know i need to distract myself. my mum suggested i take up sewing again (dont remember if i already said this) which i think i might possibly do but im so busy with assignments right now. ones i really dont want to do. stupid marketing i dont even understand it. and another one due friday that i cant even look at yet cos my marketing one is due tomorrow 1500 words i only have 500 pointless words. well anyway, sometimes i like soups i made a whole pot like a week or two ago but i didnt like it so my mum ate most of it. its kinda good though cos i work at the RSA and every sunday we have a buffet and free soup so i had bacon and tomato soup on sunday for dinner it was really yummy. My soups never really taste that great the first soup i made i put to many carrots in it was horrible. but enjoy cooking aswel i made mini cottage pies for my mum and dad last night and cupcakes the other day for my friend they liked theme. OMG do you watch junior master chef its so cute lol. i bought some baby food the other day i havent tried it yet though im scared it will taste crap.

Hey OMG a new person lol. i havent been on in ages it feels like lots of assignments i got 3 back today one B+ one A- and one A+ im so proud dont think i've ever gotten an A before then two in one day awsome. so i managed work last weekend pretty ok. my friend did the hard work for me so i didnt strain myself which was nice. oh and 2 weeks out im on thick liquids dont really know what to have though. i've been having custard, yoghurt. i bought some baby food too nervous to try it though. only 6 more days and i can move on to mushies never thought i would be this excited for mushie food lol. i have been weighing myself but our scales are out but i would say that since surgery i probli lost around 3kg maybe. my mum keeps telling me she can see the legs on my pants getting losser but i dont see it i cant wait to be under 100kg i started at 112.8kg two weeks prior to surgery but at the begining of the year i was probli at my heaviest of about 115kg so im excited. got one more week of uni two more major assignments due then holidays yay. my next appointment is on the 20th and they will weign me then i thought i would just go with their scales for now. but im really tired now so ima sign off and go to sleep ZZZZzzzzzz.

    How Bout New Zealand

yup was gonna wait till the mid sem holidays but thought what the hey. when i went to get it the first time like 2yrs ago i waned to get it before i started uni at all bu of course i was to young and didnt get approved. and then i started the process again in sept last year but when i was approved, i was relying on a loan which i didnt get. so had to pu it off again. i decided in feb to just give it a go and ask the bank for a loan and they gave me one for $6000 i was so surprised i also go an overdraft of $2000 and had $3000 of my own and so with the $7,500 from southern cross i had just enough so i decided to go for it. So i went to my 1week post op appt and it was fast they didnt weigh me cos Dr Fris said my body is retaining water after surgery so it wouldnt be acurate. He just checked my incisions and stuff and told me about what to do for the next 3 weeks and i made an appt for the 20th April and that was it. im not looking forward to the next 2 weeks as i am still on liquids but hen i get to go on to mushies, im craving mashed potato soooo bad lol. and the solids yay i want normal food. i think im gonna miss rice. i love it and i wan it. also our next door neighbours cook garlic or something it smells like garlic naan bread it smells sooo good lol. i dont know what to eat any more. im o lazy so i have been having some up&go for BF but its got a lot calories. and i dont feel like soup so i dont know what to have. ohhh and i felt for my port cos Dr fris old me where i was and i found it and it feels so weired and my mum felt it to lol She was weireded out by it. i was just like i think his is bad imagin what a kicking baby must feel like. my mum said that, that is a weired feeling. i think it would be cool if he next time your in town we all met up and got coffee or something i went to work tonight i work in the restaurant at the birkenhead RSA. it was exhausting but i go through it.

good to hear your trying it again. i have found that after my surgery (5days ago) i felt as though i wasnt given anough info on what i should be feeling and what i can and cant have. i have figured it out for the most part but i have my 1 week app on thursday so if i have any questions i'll ask then. as far as im awear they have an open door policy i dont know if thats for real or just something they say to make you feel better but i will be using it if i ever need it. I found eating in the morning to much of a bother and i never want to make anything (im to lazy) i've always been like this. So i decided to get some up&go so i have something if i dont wanna make anything. I took my dressings off today not sure if im spose to leave the steri strips on or not??? but it looks gross there is 2 long ones i thought there was gonna be just 1 but thats ok. i went out and about today and did some baking(dont know who im gonna give it to though??? my mum and dad cant eat it all lol. and so cos of allthe moving around today my incisions are kinda sore. i woke up on my stomach this morning it wasnt to sore but im to scared to start sleeping on my front, i think, i think my incisions will open up. i dont know if you guys sleep on your front or what but if you do i was wondering how long it took before you could start sleeping on your stomach again?

yea indian and thai yum thats a point my family an i go to this yummy as thai restaurant in ponsomby for like birthdays and stuff ohhhhh its so good. Can you still eat like rice, pasta, bread carbs like that and meat since you had your band? its good that you drink more milk its suposed to lower the amount of fat your body absorbs if you drink milk after a meal (low fat/skim i would presume). Also that makes me wonder about drinking fluids before and after you eat do you have to wait or do you find that you can drink whenever? omg my family had burger fule for tea last night it looked so yum.

lol i cant remember the email address but its quite funny. yea i look back now and think they were probibly right i wasnt mature enough. yea i remember i started at the gym for the first time as soon as i turned 14(they had let my older brother start when he was 14 so they had to let me). yea i think if i said that to my dad he would say its good for me. he doesnt quite understand my situation, him and one of my brother are the only 2 in our family that are not overweight. he didnt really approve of the surgery but said he would support me in whatever i decided. he doesnt think i needed it, that i could do it on my own but like i say to him, if i could have done it by myself i would have done it by now. i think i will come to appretiate food more now instead of just stuffing it down my throat. i said to my mum that i.ll be fine going to a fancy restaurant i will only need to order 1 course cos there tiny and it will be just right for me. mmmmm ice cream yummy. I think my dad thinks its a quick fix, i try to tell him its a tool not magic i still have to put in the effort. My brother is morbidly obese and hes taking part in a weightloss show so hes working hard to lose weight, i applied to be on it 2 but i didnt weigh enough so i decided to go ahead finally and im happy i have.

i think the idea of the pre op diet is to reduce the size of your liver so its easier for the surgeon to see without heaps of fat dripping down. i had to lose at least 3kg before i was allowed surgery lucky for me i lost exactly 3kg so i didnt have to postpone.

Its kinda funny my neighbours son or sons had it done and they didnt lose any weight eaither. not sure what they did wrong. Im at the beggining of my second year at uni but knowbody knows i've had it done. I started looking into this surgery at the end of 07 i think, but Dr Fris wouldnt do it then cos i was only 17. he gave me the email of a chick to talk to you sound really similar to her??? My mum has been really good, helping me out with shakes and meds and asking me how im feeling. my dad on the otherhand keeps telling me to vacume the lounge and do the dishes. 40kg thats great. yea i saw an artical once of a girl who said that the lap band was the worst thing that ever happened to her she wasnt losing weight and nothing would go down lol turns out the only way she thought she could get food down was by smothering it in melted chocolate. i think she defeated the purpose. having someone to talk to does make it easier, my aunt had a sleeve a few years back she looks great and she is happy that i decided to go ahead with it. not quite the same talking to her though shes in her 60's so its a bit different for her.

Hi, So im around 13hrs out from my surgery and it went perfect. i havent really been to sore the nurses gave me some antibiotics and pain meds and i slept most of yesturday till about 4pm when my parents came and visited me. It was funny when i fist woke up after the surgery the nurses were talking away to me but all i could think was hurry up cos i cant keep my eyes open lol. Anyway last night around 7pm i think i got a shake, some Soup and some juice for dinner but i didnt eat the soup it was to rich so i drank the smoothie ands just sipped away on the juice. Its hard to tell what im feeling, my stomach is kinda tight so i cant quite tell when im hungry or not. I stayed in hospital last night (it was private) it was like staying in a hotel. I got a newspaper and a warm face cloth when i woke up (i got up around 6-7am)this morning and around 45min later i got a smoothie and tea for breakfast. I wasnt able to move around much last night because i was hooked up to these leg stockings that inflate on each leg one at a time so i needed a nurse to unattach me from them whenever i needed to go to the bathroom. Im at home now (its 12:30pm) and i feel ok my follow up app is in one week and i take my dressings off in five days to let the incisions air a bit. everythings looking good so far and i hope it continues to. Good luck to everyone else who is being banded soon, i dont regret it, im looking forward to starting my new life.

Ijust hope it goes away I will be soooo bumbed if i have to put it off. This pre op diet is driving me crazy. having to do it for another week will turn me insane. lol

My surgery is on wednesday im a bit nervous. the only people that know are my parents, 2 brothers and one of my aunts. I am a bit worried that my surgery will be postponed because im just getting over the end of a cold and worried that it wont be gone by tuesday. Im also concerned about recovery time i know its usually not long but i have like four university assignments due in the week following my surgery. but im hoping and hoping all goes well and im better by then.

    New member and Nervous.

Thanx Well just over a week ago i started a pre-op diet (it sux) it consists of 3 liquid shakes and 1/2C steamed vegies a day. I have to lose 3kg by tuesday im down about 1-2kg now so i got a bit more to go. Trying to eat slower and not drinking 30min before and after eating cos my doctor said i wont be able to drink with meals after the surgery. I have been through several sessions with the psycologist and dietician to make it easier for me to know my limits after surgery. Im a bit not sure at the moment about whats happening, im aying for 3/4 of the surgery myself and my insurance is paying the restg but they are messing me about so im not a hundred % sure if everything will go ahead as scheduled. hopefully i'll findout tomorrow.
