Emotional Eater - Lap Band
NatalieB replied to frenchdove's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can totally relate. I was banded in June and have only lost about 10 lbs due to my emotional eating. -
I think I kidded myself in thinking that I was a good lap-band patient. I have unresolved food issues and without addressing them, I will never be successful. Had my surgery at the end of June and weighed 306. I think I am hovering around 295 right now and have been as low as 289. I drink too much alcohol and eat too much of the slider foods (chips, ice cream, Pasta, etc). So far I have had 4 fills and am around 7 ccs in a 11 cc band. I don't think I need anymore Fluid because I haven't "mastered" this current fill. A few times a week, I vomit from eating to quickly or not chewing well enough. However, tonight I had about 3/4 of an 11oz steak, some potato, some bread, and some appetizer. I didn't think I would be able to eat that much food, particularly that much steak. Thanks for letting me vent.

I got banded on the same day as you and have had "mushies" since about four days post surgery. This was cheating and I am not advocating it. However, I was really suprised how easily things went down. I just ate slow. I think you will be surprised too.

I just had my surgery done on June 30th and also had Dr. Peters. I agree that CHRIAS has a great program.

I am a little more than four days post op and I am very hungry today. I have moved on from clear liquids and started drinking protein shakes and soups with unflavored protein mixed in. I had headaches most of today and I am just straight up starving now. Not sure what to do. I feel like I am drinking as much protein shake and soup as I can. I can't tolerate much more.

Extremely Hungry Today

I don't know actually. What I had was a sample from my pre-surgery class. -
Extremely Hungry Today
NatalieB replied to NatalieB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I broke down and ate half a baby yogurt (what I had on hand) last night and then half this morning. The RN from my bariatric program called this afternoon and we discussed it. She suggested making my soup with milk for added protein and gave me a recipe for protein pops (cottage cheese, flavored protein mix, and water blended up and frozen) for additional substance. -
When Did You Start Seeing Weight Loss
NatalieB posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 3 days post op and weigh more than the I did the morning of surgery. I am assuming it is all the IV liquids but it is a little disheartening because I am not really eating anything. I am starting to feel some hunger today and have eaten some broth, a sugar-free Jello, an Optifast Soup mix and half an Optifast shake. Yesterday, it took all day to drink a 20 oz bottle of Water. When should I expect to see some weight loss?? -
Pain Level After Surgery
NatalieB replied to Wendell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pain level was probably at a 7 max. I had it done Monday afternoon. -
Torn between LB and Gastric bypass
NatalieB replied to erink58's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just attended an information session for weight loss surgery and the doctor stated that the bypass was better for diabetes. I can't remember exactly why but he mentioned that most bypass patients go off insulin immediately following surgery. I would talk to your doctor about it.
