Okay - touchy subject for some. but i need some tricks, tools, or reasons. my cycle is unpredictable at best - 1 every 2 years, 1 every 6 months, 1 every 2 months, never consistant other than all the triggers and signs of it being on the horizon - but not always showing up. it's appearance is not my concern - dealing and as the weight is coming off - they are getting a little more consistant - i guess the medical professions cold statment of " there is nothing wrong with you - your only problem is diet and excersise" is a little closer to believable than it once was. - another issue altogether. my questions is ------- what do i do with these cravings. they sneak up - just becomes a driving need for something - and unfortunatly that something stays unknown i never know what it is i want. but even as i'm recognizing that the tummy is full - there is this nagging to have something else. for a couple of days - it's almost overwhelming. i mean - i have gotten very used to not eating great quantities - this is now an upsetting environment for me. i play to win - i don't like loosing this kind of squirmish. any ideas, suggestions? L :help:

well -i'm not 4 hours - but i'm in the north country. 1.5 hours away from clinic. if you are in general good health - there should be vertually no complications. if you heal well you should be good. if you tend to get sick easy - flus, colds, viruses that type of thing. what you might want to do is plan on spending 3 or 4 days post surgery in the TO area - near the clinic - be sure you have someone who knows you well and can tell if your not feeling well or reacting well. but - honestly - day 1 after surgery - was sleepy and slept most of the day. day 2 - i was up and wandering in the house looking forwomething to keep my hands busy. day 3 - was ready to take on the world. had more energy than i could ever know what to do with. was eating mushy, mushy stuff and liquids. getting my teeth clenaed was and is far more complicated. hope it helps, you need to decide where you are most comfortable. remember you need to do your followups where you have your surgery. good luck. if nothing else - close you eyes and pick one from a hat. Water arobics - 3 months in water jogging - the best - started last night - an amazing non-impact activity.

Hi folks, I just recived a response from TLBC and they have confirmed that the post op diet does include Jello (sugar free).:clap2: they did re-state the importance of the yogurt and cottage cheese the the function of the bactia culture. these are the most important. i think i'll save the Jello for a time when i really need a different taste.:hungry: day 4 of pre-op - down 8 lbs. survived relatives cooking supper (oh the smells) - diddn't seem to have any pangs or overwhelming desires. yippee.
-
thanks, yes - it was pre-op that i meant. i was just kinda exited that i could have a defferent texture and a different flavour. but thanks. just curious, why no Jello since 1958? is there something really negative about Jello that we havn't heard about? just curious. L

Okay - first timer here. Jan 25 is magic day. nerves kicking in. need some ground advise for the pre-op diet. i can't do cottage cheese - havn't done white milk or close faxcimilies since i was 6 months old - can't handle the smell, taste - even the thought of it makes me shiver - Yogurt however - i have gotten to like over the past few years. but two weeks of yogurt and tea? - are they serious? i'm going to try - but does anyone have some "tricks" they can share. i'm not sure what happens if i'm not able to hold out for 2 weeks of yogurt and tea?
-
Thanks Yoda, that is where my thinking went - just wanted to be sure i was decifering correctly. I am a little disapointed with TLBC. i have e-mailed twice (as suggested by Nisreen) and have had no reply. unfortunatly i do not have my diet and per-op meeting until 2 days before surgery. i seem to be relying heavily on this site for general guidance. so far - so good, how can one really mess up yogurt and tea, i am concerned about the amount of yogurt i can have. the additional problem is tht my dad accidentaly threw out the envelope that had my pre-op instrucitons in it. do you know if there is a web page that i can download the "directions" - hoping that it might be able to give me some guidelines on amounts etc.

ARe you serious about the Jello (i presume the sugar free) on the Pre-Op diet. i'll check that out with my Massage Therapist (also a Naturalist). What he has been telling me is that yes - the short statement is "Shrink the Liver" - however the longer version has the yogurt forcing the organs to start purging the fat and toxins out. That knowledge has helped. on many levels. Thanks for the responses. It seems i have trouble accessing the site from my home system, so i'm stuck waiting until i get to work each day. - for now any way.

Hi, has anyone stayed overnight in Toronto the night before surgery? where did you stay. i'm coming in from outside the GTA and it would mean up at 3AM :faint: to be to the clinic on time. Was thinking my friend and i would stay down the night before and then go in from there. Is there anything close to the clinic?:help:
-
sorry. i didn't realize there was more than 1 i'm in at the prince arther medical clinic. Bloor and Spadina
-
thanks people - this is good. another part of my questions would be. is there any limitation to the yogurt. amount, kind, content. i like the Yoplait Source yogurt. it is almost like ice cream or pudding. but i like the fruit ones - i like the idea of sitting down and setting it up as a real meal. oh we humans can fool ourselves into many things. now if i could just fool the insurance company into paying for this... i'd be away. L

so what you are really telling me is buck up - and consider my road to be 2 weeks longer on liquids. 2 weeks pre-op - 5 weeks post-op. okay - kinda what i figured. not disapointed - but gonna have to do a lot of self peptalking. i'll look on it as finally being able to contribute to keeping the dairy farmers in business. thanks. Difficulty loosing weight???
ljgnorth replied to Bulldog's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my first everything, message, band, time into this site, open discussion on banding- as i said - first for everything. this one has me thinking and i wanted to ask. i have a back problem that started when i was 14 - i fell - i have just recently found bouncing to be helpfull. it is low impact, and the back actually lets me stand it for the 5 minutes three times a day. it helps with metabolism, energy, and flushing the system. - i know what it means to say - it hurts to excersise, for me it sometimes has meant hospital because everything has spasmed to the point of cutting of feeling and control of legs. -- any way - my question is that i would like confirmation that i'm not making a large mistake. My thinking has been this - i do the pre-op yogurt and isageniz diet - 2 weeks - surgery is scheduled for Jan 25/07. 5 weeks post-op and then research and experimentation time begins. - this is where the "tool" was supose to make it's big contribution - i am hoping it will do the larger postion of the work for the first 30 - 40 lbs - then i can begin to do more walking (the back doesn't like that for long either) - unfortunatly swimming is not a real option as i have a 'not nice' reaction to chlorine. i was really hoping not to have to join a gym. this procedure is touching the limits of my finances as it is. again, i was hoping that the band would take the lead and i could follow it for a while and when i had lost some - i could take charge. -i'm bablling - sorry.
