wow, you look fantastic. How much weight have you lost? I am not banded yet, hopefully will be soon. I decided to go via the public system here in Quebec, rather than the public. I was told it would take about a year, well I have almost 7 months done, so I can not wait for the call for the pre-tests and then the actual surgery. Just had to say you look fantastic and are an inspiration!!Keep up the good work!! Sue

    confused!

Hi , and thank you ,I completely agree with your post.I do not think Quebecers are lazy either( and I am one of them)!! I am not banded yet but am on a waiting list. The reason I chose the lap band is because it is reversible.I personally know of one person who has had the lapband and she is working hard on her weight loss journey! Take care, Sue

    anyone here from canada?

it is covered by medicare as far as I know. that is why the wait is so long. I had initially made an appointment with a dr. Miller in private and it was going to cost 16,000. on the web site I can't remember what the wait time was but it was not very long at all.Mind you things could have changed as that was 6 months ago. I liked him Dr. Jette that is, he is very to the point and does not beat around the bush. I had not heard that he is rude. I had heard he was a very good surgeon!

    anyone here from canada?

Hi, I'm not banded yet, but am now on the waiting list for Pierre Boucher Hospital. I had my appointment with Dr. Pierre Jette on April 13th and he said I was a candidate!! What a relief. So now it is a waiting game. If I remember right he said it was a 9-12 month wait, but that is ok, now that I know I am a candidate. There is a newer Doctor there a Dr. Chagnon( I think that is how you spell it) supposedly the wait is not as long for him. There is also a Dr. Leclerc at chum( Notre Dame hosp). In private it costs about $16,000 and up. Good luck with your search, I did not have to wait too long for my appointment with Dr. Jette about 3 months. Sue
  9. I Am a candidate!!! now it is a waiting game. The md told me it was about a years wait. I have not won the lottery ,so will have to wait. If by chance I come into money, then I will be self pay! Keep up the good work.

  10. Hi Again, I just went back and read your post, if i understand it has been 1yr. plus. and you were banded in 2010. Am still interested how your experience with the lapband has been. Also how did you like Dr. Jette?

    Sue

quote name='Mollyjolie' timestamp='1301794966' post='1595027'] Hello Juliana1, I was banded this past March. So far, I lost about 10 lbs. My first fill is on April 20th. Happy I won't be alone. Mollyjolie Hi Mollyjoie, Congratulations on your band. Who was your doctor and where did you have it done. I have an appointment on the 13th of April, and hopefully I will be a candidate. My GP has his doubts!! Hopefully he is wrong. Sue
  16. WOW,totally impressive!!! I hope I am as successful as you have been. I go in about 2 weeks to see if I am a candidate. I truly hope so. I have been reading a bunch of different posts, some positive and so negative. I would like to lose about 75 lbs and hope to do so with the help of the band. Keep up the good work, and give yourself a pat on the back for a fantastic weightloss journey! Sue
  17. Hi, way to go,down 14 lbs already, Encouraging!!I have been reading different posts , some are downright scary. Others are very encouraging. I go see Dr. Jette on the 13th of this month. I can't wait!! Who was your doctor? Keep up the fantastic work, have a great day. Sue
  18. wow, you are doing really well. I am really hoping to be accepted as a candidate, I can't wait for my appointment. Have you had any fills yet? any problems? Keep up the good work! Sue
  19. Hi FeelingGroovy, it looks like you are doing great. Do you find it hard to do. I think I will have trouble with the having to chew the food alot and I am a fast eater.I have an appointment in april. I can't wait to see if I am a candidate. My GP does not think I will be one, he says I am a "thin" overweight person. If this Dr. does not think I am seriously thinking of going the self pay route.

  20. Sounds like we have a lot in common, I think I have tried just about all the diets out there too. I manage to lose some and then gain it back, plus a few extra pounds. My last attempt was weight watchers last year, I lost 25 of the many lbs I need to lose, but I have since gained them all back . I'm sure within a 6 month period. I have an appointment with a bariatric surgeon in April. I so hope I am a candidate. I have failed so many times , it is kind of scary. I have been reading and reading the different posts. I know this is right for me.I can't wait. I realize it will not be easy, but I am so ready to lose the weight once and for all. Good luck.

    Hi I'm new!

Hi, Congrats on your decision! I too have decided to get the lapband. I have an appointment in april and can't wait. Although my family doctor doesn't know if I will be a candidate . I figure my BMI is 35-36, and I have been diagnosed with diabetes, so, I think I should be a candidate I am 50 years old and am fed up with all this yo-yo dieting . I am so good at gaining it back. I have dieted my way up to 250 lbs. Enough is enough.I am so thankful that I have found this site, there is so much info. .
