Jintx, sherrypep..... Help me out here. i havent yet been banded so I'm wondering....isnt the band restricting you from eating too much? i know it can't make your food choices, but what about portion control? i thought the whole idea was that you would not be able to eat too much...... -

GLove replied to my3sons75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks Jason. How are you feeling today? -
A non surgical victory, such as being able to bend over and tie your shoes, crossing your legs, flying on an airplane without the seatbelt extender, wearing a clothing size without an X .... There are many!!!!

GLove replied to georgia girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I doubled the batch and kept them in a tupperware container. I was really surprised. Maybe i should have kept them in the frig. That's why Im suggesting to only make 1 can at a time. -

GLove replied to 4kmarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jennxaz, while you're on your liquid diet are you allowed to drink vegetable juices? i havent been banded yet, but I love juicing and was hoping to get my vegetable nutrients in by juicing kale, cucumbers, carrots, etc.... They are delicious! -

My daughter started it about 2 weeks ago and I started last week. I love it! She breaks it down and makes it sooooo darn easy to follow!

Im curious if the forum has any Vegans, Vegetarians or Raw Foodies out there? Was this your choice before banding or did you convert after banding?

After momths and momths of research, attending support groups, 3 seminars, etc, I told my best friend I decided to have lapband. She knew I was doing all this research and yet her response to me was " so you're going to take the easy way out". I was stu ned by her reaction. She has seen my weight gain, we work out hard everyday together and we are constantly supporting each other.....until that remark. I was very sad and hurt and decided then that I would not discuss my surgery with her anymore. My reply to her ignorance was to say: actually, this is the hardest decision in my life (im 57!). I will subject myself to surgery, have 5 holes drilled in my stomach, change my eating habits forever, give up bread, smash my meds everyday because they wont go down easy, commit to some meds for the rest of my life, possibly have temporary hair loss, awful stuck episodes, etc, in hope of weight loss to relieve my joint pain, ward off diabetes and feel human again... After all of that she admitted that she is jealous that I will be losing weight and she didnt want me thinner than her. OK, that I can understand. Just dont tell me Im taking the easy way out when you dont know a thing about it!

Today I had lunch with a friend who had lapband last May. I heard from her in Aug and she had already lost 60 lbs. I didnt even ask her about weight loss today. It didnt matter. She looked fantastic! She was beaming! She's 20lbs from goal. She answered my many, many questions as I prepare for the surgery this March (i hope). It was so refreshing to hear her answers to my questions about the dreaded "getting stuck" NONE; hair loss NONE; Gas and belching NONE; too tight of restriction NONE; food restrictions NONE, just less of everything. It went on and on. She didnt have one complaint! Not one! I asked her what the secret to her success is. She said, "i wasnt going to put myself through surgery, have 5 holes in my stomach and not do it right". She is completely compliant with her doctor's protocol. She eats Protein at every meal, she exercises, she eats slow and stops when she is full. She even enjoys 1 glass of wine a week. She did express what a mental challenge this can be. Your stomach got the band, not your mind....you still need to deal with the mental aspects of food. Her results are inspiring. Her attitude refreshing! I tried very hard to hear a complaint but there was none. I told her she is a posterwoman for lapband and I pray I have the attitude and success she has!
