I am 38 years old school and have been overweight since the age of 2. I come from a family of overweight people. I decided to get the Lap Band because I was tired of being tired all the time. As the mother of a 3 year old boy, I wanted to be able to play with him and live a more active life.

Dr. J. Clay Wellborn performed my Lap Band surgery January 14, 2011. I was 311 pounds at my initial consultation with him. On the day of surgery, I was 300 pounds. To date (June 8, 2011), I have lost 56 pounds (that number includes the pre-op 11 pounds lost). Even though I am still a long way from my goal, I feel so much better and have never regretted the surgery. Dr. Wellborn and his staff are wonderful and I am so thankful I had the opportunity to have this done.
