Wow Argon, thanks that's likely the kick in the pants I needed to get a defill...I really don't want the headache of complications (ok so that goes without saying), Do you know what may have caused this to happen in the first place? Seemed I was rolling along fine then this started. Thanks for the advise.
-
Ok I think, I know exactly what your going through...I am waking up almost nightly with choking spells where I also feel taste reflux...it's awful. My question is why do we need a total defill, why not just a part of one? How long should we be defilled for ? Can we refill all at once or do we have to start all over and travel 4 to 5 times to get small amounts again to get restriction? Thanks for your help and advise.

So Happy for you Congrats!!

Hi Angel Bear, did you have the defils because you were sick? Or were you simply too full? Thanks -

Good luck Mr.Yoda! -
YES,so very nervous about the procedure about life changes, about the money , about people finding out, and about it not working.....I hope with more fills I will be able to see some good results, for now I will say sometimes we just have to close our eyes, trust, and make the leap. Good Luck Dawn and Donna

Your friend would want you to use his example and be inspired and even more determined to look after yourself, take care.

Thanks for that Becca, hopefully the next fill number 3 will be the charm, I feel like I need to get going at this before I get back in all the bad old habits I had. Mandi, thanks for the explaination.
-
Mandi just noted something you said, you did'nt believe it would work for the longest time and were bracing for dissipointment, does that mean you were slow to start? I'm grasping for something right now b/c after two fills I'm struggling to maintain (acturally I've gained). Good luck with kick starting things again but the thought of having to go on that type of diet again makes me sad,I was hoping with the band those days od yukky diets were all in my past.:rolleyes
-
hmmm, this is a good question, does anyone know the reason for the delayed restiction?
-
Gaffer to answer the question, no I wish I felt something, any indication the band was acturally in there would be nice (I have the scars to prove something happened). I now have 5cc in the 10 cc band and the person who does my fills said often people don't feel much until 7 or 8 cc's,so I'm trying to be patient and remember the post Yoda had in a few days ago about not rushing things, the trouble is I was so "up" for the first while after surgery and now unfortunitly I'm falling back into some of my bad habits from before....I need to get some of my earlier excitment back and to get disiplined again.
-
Gaffer I'm not sure of the answer to that but I had my second fill on Thursday and I have no restriction yet:mad: .....so it truely is different for everyone.

Hi Maggie just wanted to let you know the sensation and pain you describe is exactly what I experienced,it is likely from the hernia repair at least that was what I was told from the office. Rest and take care of yourself, for me it passed in about about a week.

Credible Research Materials On Banding and Related Issues
Astrotoes replied to Cat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cat , thankyou, it's so much better for us to have FACTS , sometimes things regarding this surgery seem overwhelmingly negetive....but when you come right down to the facts it WORKS so thanks and I think everyone should read the study:clap2:. -
Please don't tell me wine bothers the band in some way:omg:
-
I think you will find Dr.Cobourn's out of town people pay 100.00/fill,unless something has just changed. Good luck with your decision.
-
Lferland, Wow 40lbs and new clothes and dropping meds so quickly.....WOW,you're doing great!:clap2:
-
Thanks Yoda....I really needed to be told that.
-
You'e doing great Doddie!!:clap2:
-
Hey Cloe, what you said is an inspiration to me and givin your success thus far it's totally working for you. Can you explain how you do it? Is the band giving you enough restriction that you need alot less will power? I have had one fill and can't even feel an evidence of the band being in there. So I guess the reassurence that eventially something will happen helps.
-
Please don't even talk to me about weight loss groups as far as I'm concerned they are misleading and depend on my weaknesses and exploit people, I'm bitter about their condesending attitudes(imagine a sneaker sticker as a reward.....I want to scream I'm 42!!). My one hope is that the band helps me enough that I never have to walk through the doors of another awful meeting. Thanks for letting me vent and if others find them helpful that's great but for myself they only added to my feeling of failure.
-
So Doddie I'm envious, I'm trying hard not to be discouraged, but two weeks after my first fill....nothing, and I can't really say I've ever had any sense of restriction from day one. I am hungry most days and try to white knuckle it through the hunger but this week I'm up another 1.5 lbs.:faint: This morning I had a peace of steak,an egg and cottage cheese for breaky in effort to get lots of protein in so I wouldn't be hungry all day at work and it helped but I feel I shouldnt be able to eat all that at this point, anyhow I'm trying to get away for another fill soon, maybe then my band will kick in because as of now I'm really not certain it even exists!!
-
Good Luck! Take your time to recover and be good to your self:clap2:

Canadian Bandsters - what would have made it better?
Astrotoes replied to argon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The other thing i feel is if fills are covered if you live near the clinic, then I believe they should be covered for those of us who live outside of Ontario. They could pay the fill provider directly.
