What have you dropped so far?
fefebutterfly replied to genesishanna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Its funny but I was just reading somewhere that a newborn baby horse weighs around 60 pounds which is how much I have lost so far. So to answer your question, I have lost a baby horse!!! WOW WHOA FeFe Lapband with Gastric Plication April 11 2011 Starting Weight 355 Goal Weight 145 -
Well, even though it is on my mind all the time, I only weigh myself 1-2 times per month because I have a manic personality. If I weighed myself all the time then I would get descouraged, be on the highs and lows along with my weight. This way, if I lost 5 or 10 lbs, I would have felt like I have progressed. For some people it is okay, but for folks like me it is better to focus on getting healthy than the numbers on a scale. Not having to shop at the "fat girl" store!
fefebutterfly replied to Jennifer16005's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is a wonderful topic because like all of you, I have not been able to shop in the "normal" stores for a long time since I was 14 years old. Now I am 27 and I can't wait to step foot in stores like NineWest, Victoria secret(I only got perfume before), GAP, Talberts, etc... In March of this year I was wearing 4x and 26/28 which were a little snug. Now in August I have been getting into some 22 pants and 2x shirts. One blouse I put on was an 18/20. Its weird right now because my size is all over the place. Its weird because I am wearing things in my closet that I have not worn in over 5 years. I am glad I kept them because I wouldnot have anything to wear right now. My goal is to be a size 10/12 dress/pants and med/large blouse and to not have wide shoes. The personal goal that I have met is that, I CAN WEAR MY HIGH HEELS AGAIN, YAYY!!!! Now I still keep a pair of flats around just in case. Good Luck to Everyone!!! New Lap Band plus Plication surgery
fefebutterfly replied to JanPuppyLover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Winifred and Sassyfrass, When It came to billing, I did not have to pay for the Gastric Plication. Because it is investigational the doctors tend to include it is the price, I guess for the experience. At least thats what my Dr. did. People Tell me all the time that I look great and they can tell that I have lost some weight. But it is not easy, I still have to watch portion sizes and all of that, so it is easy for me to tell people that I have been dieting and exercising. Fefe -
soon to be banded
fefebutterfly replied to bellybuster's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know it is very difficult right now because those liquids are no joke. I used to get the packs of Raman Noodles and discard the noodles and just boil some Water and add the packet of powder. That was tasty to me. I make lemonade: Glass of water, on lemon squeezed and couple slices in water, then about 3 packs of spenda. Soo Good. Sometimes I add lime or orange. After your surgery, you shouldnt be too hungry, it just depends on you. I used to have to force myself to eat something. Its gets a little easier. Now I am 4 months out and I am starting to get hungry. TIme for a band-fill. Lapband with Gastric Plication 04/11/2011 -
HELP!! Need advice about eating out!
fefebutterfly replied to hooahwife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would suggest that you get something really soft to eat. Maybe a flaky white grilled fish, mash potatoes, pinto Beans, Soup. Lay off dessert because you may not be able to finish your dinner. But if you have to have it. Just a scope of ice cream will suffice. Its gonna be kinda hard at this point in your journey, so dont over eat. make sure you chew very carefully because you dont wanna get stuck during dinner. Have a great time Surgery Date 04/11/11 Lapband with Gastric Plication -
New Lap Band plus Plication surgery
fefebutterfly replied to JanPuppyLover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey JanPuppyLover, I had my surgery on April 11 2011; LapBand with Gastric Plication. I am so glad that I decided to go through with it because I feel that I have lost quite a bit of weight with both surgeries. Today I had my weigh in at the Gym and I am so pleased. I have now left the 300's and I am on my way toward my goal. I believe that the dual surgery is the reason for my accelerated weight loss. Just make sure you choose a Surgeon that has a great reputation. If you are in NC I would definitely recommend my Doctor. Best of luck to you. How long before able to exercise after lap-band?
fefebutterfly replied to lee_nyc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
well no kick boxing for me but moderate exercise I started about 3 weeks post op. I wasn't very active before the band so adjusting to exercise was a bit difficult. But in your case and the type of physical activity you do, I would suggest that you ask your doctor. fefe -

Hello Everyone I am so EXCITED because I have lost a total of 55 pounds so far. It is a milestone in my life because I have hit my first goal, to get down to 300 lbs. I have 155 lbs to go to reach my ultimate goal. I am 27 years old and my starting weight was 355 pounds in March. My WLS was on April 11, 2011 and since then the weight has been coming off. I am hoping that I can lose another 20 to 30 pounds before Christmas. I decided to get Lapband with plication because I told my doctor that I was not interested in the bypass surgery, but I needed to lose 200 lbs. He told me that my best option was to get this procedure that is somewhat experimental because they haven't been doing it as long as other surgeries. I was apprehensive at first, but I came around and I am glad that I did. I have been a member of Lapband talk since March, but this is my first time on Sleeve plication Talk. I am just glad that there are more like me out there. Thanks FeFe Surgery Date: April 11 2011 Goal Weight 145 Starting Weight 355 Current Weight 300 and losing 3.5 cc Bandfill

vitamins, calcium other than the chewable kind?
fefebutterfly posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was wondering if anyone knows of any good supplements for Multivitamin and Calcium that is not that chalky chewable stuff. I need help because I just can't take it because those chewables makes me gag everytime. Anyone know of a liquid calcium or a very small capsule that I could take? Any suggestions would be nice. Thank you FeFe [/code ] -

Oh My Goodness, How Wonderful to be in Onederland! That is such a great accomplishment and I hope to be there soon. I got about 100 more pounds to lose until I get there, but with diligence we all can reach our goals. Right now I am considered Morbily Obese, and you have gone past that, to Overweight. That is a VICTORY in itself. Next you will be Better than Normal. Good Luck to you! FeFe Lapband with Gastric Plication 04/11/11

Well, Not quite in that boat. What I thought was weird, on the day of my surgery my Period came on, That was a suprise. I have always had irregular periods for most of my adult life. However since the surgery I have had regular periods. So in that way, this has been a positve experience for me. Maybe it is just your body becoming acclaimated to the Lapband. It is early yet so maybe you will level out. I would mention it on your next check up though, just to make sure. FeFe Lapband with Gastric Plication 04/11/11

How happy are you with your body as you are losing weight?
fefebutterfly replied to Joleen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Joleen, I am very happy that I am losing weight but I kinda feel like you do. My body is first of all, not as firm as it was before. My problem areas are my THIGHS and ARMS. My thighs look like they are Melting literally and my arms look like wings just flapping away. Oh I almost forgot, my Boobs arelosing weight too. So I knew I had to do something about this. So I spoke to my Fitness coach and she gave me some Strength Training Exercises that are geared to build muscle as I am losing weight. In the past month I have seen some progress in my arms. I think I need to work harder on my thighs. Also I have tried some Squats with weights, so hopefully that will help tighten my skin. I refuse to have plastic surgery, mostly because I can't afford it and I don't want the scars. So Exercise will hopefully be my saving grace. Hope the best for you and your body. In about 50 more pounds down, I may see myself as a Hottie I will keep everyone posted. The next 50 lbs will be even better. And yes, m hubby is my rock and I love that even when I was my heaviest he has Never once called me FAT. For that is the reason for my success because I have someone that is always checking on my progress every step of the way. Thank You, FeFe

YES I am still overweight but the weight is coming off! I am so happy because I am smaller right now than I was 4 years ago. I am happy because I no longer have to take my insulin resistance medication. I am happy because even though I am not shopping in the petite section, I can actually find my size in some stores. In March I was a size 28 womens or 4x, now in July I am a size 22-24 or 2x. My Husband says that I am "HOT", and I think more of my appearance now because i wanna keep getting those compliments! Surgery Day: April 11 (Lapband with Gastric Plication) Starting Weight 355 Target Weight 145 Current Weight 300 Band Fill 3.5cc Since getting surgery, I have become more active because I go to the gym 3 times a week and I see a fitness coach and a dietician. Everyone is amazed at the weight loss. I feel so much better and I have a pep in my step! I am hoping that I could lose about 20 more pounds before christmas.Even though I am still 150 pounds away from my goal, I am one step closer! Wish me luck! Anyway, I just wanted to tell someone that I lost 55 pounds. FeFe

That is so great that you have meet that goal in your life! It is amazing how the small victories mean so much and you are amazed when you realize it the first time. One small victory for me (or a rather huge one for me) is that I can finally climb a flight of steps without being about to pass out. I go to the gym and to get to the treadmills I must climb the steps or use the elevator. Well I refuse to use the elevator so I have been climbing those steps every week. I am so happy for your because its the small victories that give us strength and motivation! Yayyy for you FeFe WLS:Lapband with Gastric Plication 04/11/11

vitamins, calcium other than the chewable kind?
fefebutterfly replied to fefebutterfly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have tried BUILDING BLOCKS, Bariatric Advantage, AND Bariatric fusion. I think it just has to deal with the chewables. -
Hello, I had my Lapband with Gastric plication done on April 11, 2011. I am glad that I did it because I feel that I have had an amazing weightloss thus far. I told my doctor that I need to lose a significant amount of weight but did not want to go the bypass route. so he suggested the Plication. At first it was hard because the restriction in the beginning is a lot worse than the normal band from what I am told. The first couple weeks I had swelling in my stomach and esophogas because I also had a hietal hernia repair so at times it was hard to keep liquids down. But after that I was fine. I dont regret it, I would do it all over again if I had too. any other questions, just let me know. -fefe
