    Frustrated

I was banded March 9th, and I am similar to you. Except I already have gotten a fill, but I find it encouraging to read what Nicole wrote. I actually feel like I am dieting also. Weight goes up and down. I have lost 30 lbs total from preop diet, then imediatly after, and not much change since. So you are not alone.
  2. My Dr. showed me a "pill" about the size of a round tylenol pill, and said crush everything else, lol Well Metformin is way bigger, but so far I am OK. Hope it stays that way!! lol
  3. I was banded March 9th, and I used the "0"calorie Powerade, or the smart water(with electolytes) to help me with the dirrhea. And keep me from getting completly dehydrated. Once I started on solids I ended up having the opposite problem for a couple weeks. Now, I think I am normal again, but I am suppose to get my 1st fill on Thursday so hopefully that whole process doesnt occur again lol Good Luck, it will pass, keep hydrated!!!
  4. I was banded on march 9th. I crushed mine for about 2 weeks, and got tired of it so I just started taking them normally, and I have not had a problem. My 1st fill will be on Thursday so I will have to let you know if that changes anything! Hope not, I really hate crushing meds lol

    Unrealistic goals

I was banded 3-9-11, I was 207 before the pre op diet, and 196 on surgery day. Today I am 186, but have stayed this weight for 3 days. Overall I have lost 21 lbs, and feel so much better. I too was hoping to meet my goal weigh within a year, and with the quick weight loss since surgery I was "loving life", I did get sad when the scale stopped moving, but today I have a new thought: I am doing great! And must stick with eating correctly(yesterday I wanted to cheat, I am still on full liquids). Instead of a big goal, I am going to make a little goal!! I want to lose 10 more lbs by May 1st!! Good Luck!! We can do this!!
  6. I was banded March 9th, Before the pre op diet I was 207, Day of surgery I was 196, now I am 186. I am starting to experience the exact same thing. I was losing 2 lbs/day, yesterday only 1, today none, but I have this weird feeling I will be gaining. I am not doing anything wrong either. Maybe when we get our fills it will help, I sure hope so. I have a post op appt. on 3/23. Hopefully I will get a fill then and see a difference. On the bright side we are all a little smaller than we were to begin with!! Hopefully one of the older banders can help us understand all this!! Hang in there!
  7. I was just banded yesterday Wed. March 9, 2011, heres my story: I woke up, showered, then we headed to the surgery center. I got there around 5:45am, and when I walked in they had me sign a bunch of papers. I sat in the waiting area about 5min. I was pretty nervous, but trying to stay calm. They called me to the back, I changed into a gown, and socks, then they hooked me up to monitors and took my b/p, temp, ekg, etc....then they put the compression devices on my legs. Next the anestesiologist(sp?) came over asked me the normal questions, then left. They started an IV, gave me pepcid in the IV(said it helpswith the acid after the procedure). At this point they allowed my husband to come sit with me untill the Dr. got there, so I called my kids to tell them I love them and would see them soon. I started to cry. A nurse came by and gave me Robinol, I am not sure for what, and I havent looked it up to see what it is. Then they told me it was time. My husband went back to the waiting area and I went to the operating room, slid on to the table, they covered me up. Then I asked the anestiologist what he was giving me, he said propafol(sp?) I said, I guess I will be out in 30sec then, he said less than that, heres some oxygen, and put a mask on me! Next thing I knew I was in recovery, and asked the time. It was 8:03am. I was in pain, but not to bad, I was nauseated however. They gave me meds through my IV. then got me up and walking around. I was very very groggy, and nauseated. From this point they sat me in a chair, then my husband came back, and they asked him to help me get dressed. I was home by 10:30am. Went to sleep, woke up and didnt feel that bad. The incisions hurt, but I really dont feel so bad. I have been up walking alot around the house, and I am shocked at how well I feel!! Not great, but not all that bad. Well thats my story!!!
  8. I will be getting banded on March 9th so I look forward to reading how it went! I have been on the shakes, blah they arent bad, but I would really like some food!
  9. Hi, I am on day 3 of my all shake pre op diet, I will be banded on March 9th, yes it is very hard, I keep getting headaches, but whats helping me is I keep thinking of how my EKG rhythm has changed, and I dont want to end up with something worse. If I was never this heavy I would still have a NSR (normal sinus rhythm), and not a bundle branch block. I dont know what your motivation is, but find it, and everytime you feel tempted think of that! It helps! Good Luck with this wonderful diet lol Just remember your not alone!
  10. I also have PCOS, and of coarse am IR, I have been on Metformin for 2yrs. I have not lost a pound, if I eat a carb I will gain, plain and simple. I am one of those very unlucky people who have never gotten over the GI side effects of the medicine. It suxs! lol I will be getting my band on March 9, 2011, hopefully I will be able to get off of it and all my other meds for chol, and trig. Good Luck with your decision, I personally cant wait!!!
  11. I agree!! Its very worth it! I look forward to the day I dont have to be on meds.
  12. That is very encouraging! I wondered if the fills would help keep me on track! I cant wait (3/9/11) Thanks for that encouraging news!! Oh, do fills cost extra or are a certain amount included in the price?
  13. Hi, My BMI is 32 also, I am 35yo, but I have alot of co-morbid conditions. High chol, high trig, PCOS(insulin resistant), and this summer I started having big conduction changes in my EKG. I am a self pay, but its worth it. I can always lose weight like you, but then I never reach my goal, and I always end up heavier and heavier. My Dr said its better to get banded right away when you start having weight related issues. If I had done it a yr ago maybe my heart rhythm would still be normal? I will be banded March 9th, 2011. I cant wait! I started the liquid diet today, and honestly its not real fun, but the end results and being able to live a longer life are soooo worth it! I cant wait!!
  14. I am going to be banded on March 9, 2011!! The day after you! I started my pre op diet today. I can only have Protein shakes and Water. I am not hungry, but I do feel the urge to eat.
