Your favorite tricks & tips for eating out
dits4golf replied to LargeMediumSmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here in Fla., many restaurants have a 'Sr. menu' that has smaller portions. Usually can get away w/ < 500 cals. total. -
It's Saturday - what're you eating?
dits4golf replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Italian link sausage (mild) 3 oz., with saut. green peppers, onion, mushroom. 1 slice Italian bread. 1 tbs. mac&cheese. Very full & very happy.......Total cals: 387 per FitDay.com . -
I believe everyone's body reacts differently after a 'fill.' The more u lose, the looser the band will become. I'm sure your current problem will subside.

Be careful with lettuce. Chew well.

Having some serious second thoughts
dits4golf replied to Rainydayz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Simply put: if it feels good, do it. If it doesn't feel good, don't do it 'cause you'll be doomed to failure. -
Slimed; What is it???
dits4golf replied to Patti.Ramsey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll know it when it happens. At the 1st sign of having 'phlem' in your throat, head for the 'John.' -
Basically, the Band is reversible......

checked w/surgeon: OK to take, if u don't already have an ulcer, but 2 b on safe side, take Prilosec, etc. also.

It worked for our ancestors & continues to work for our close cousins ( Apes, etc. ).

Anyone else having problems eating in the morning?
dits4golf replied to hautemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pretty normal. As u lose weight, it will get easier because the band loosens as the fat in that area goes away. e.g. why we continue 2 get 'fills'. Try sipping hot liquids (coffee, etc. ) 15 mins. before eating. May help. I continue having trouble w/scrambled eggs, and my morning meds. -

my feelings are hurt from the forum
dits4golf replied to oceangirl6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
look at that, 20 replies. And u thought no one cares. Hang in there. This battle can be lonesome, but the rewards are great. -
I was given a mild sedative. Slept like a baby. The only surgery, and I have had many, that was less painful was cateract (sp?) surgery. Most pain was taking dressing off after 3d or 4th day.

This youtube shows, in gory detail, how the LapBand is done. This surgeon, Tiffany Jesse, is the one who did mine. http://www.youtube.com/user/ShedTheLbs

Lap Band or Realize Band - Why did you choose yours?
dits4golf replied to slm2007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The kink issue made me go w/LapPand. Very happy w/choice. -
Try the brand sold @ WalMart &/or Sam's club. I really like the Vanilla flavor. Being lactose intolerant, I mix 1 scoop w/ 8 oz. Lactaid for my b'fast. 26g protein from powder. I've even mixed with coffee. Not bad either. Give it a 'shake.' Lol....

Have you been using Fitday.com ? Free subsr. Great tool to log weight; activities; foods. Track weight; activities; cals.; carbs.; proteins; etc. It keeps you aware of intake after each meal, each day, each week, etc.

If ever you get food 'stuck' ( i.e. chicken breast, some veggies, etc. ), a quick fix is to swollow a tsp. of meat tenderizer. Yup, it tastes awful, but does the trick. Have fun, 'cause it's worth it.

A good bariatric surgeon will have a Nutritionist on staff who should meet w/u each visit and go over these finer points. Mine does.
