Is an EKG and a Chest CT normal pre-op testing before surgery?
dits4golf replied to isabella2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I was encouraged to have a Lap-Band by my Cardio. When I mentioned it to my PCP, he just said "is that right." He's to much of a professional to say any more, but I know him well enough to know what he was thinking. To make a long story short, my PCP is a believer ( I've lost 80# & off many meds.). My Cardio told me that of 9 patients he recommended, and had, Lap-Band, I'm the only success story. My Cardio, however, still believes in the program. That's my story & I'm sticking with it.... You have the right attitude in that you know it's only a tool & loosing weight & keeping it off is a full time job, made a lot easier by the Lap-Band. Best of luck to you & disregard the Nay Sayers. They're just jealous that you have the fortitude to improve your life style.

Eating with Baby Spoon??
dits4golf replied to SDTeaGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have u been asked to use a small plate too? Really helps psychologically. When u c a small am't of food on a large plate, u can get discouraged. It's all about tricking your brain. My wife says I don't have a brain to trick. Lol...... -

Doctor Scale and Home Scale - which is correct?
dits4golf replied to healthyroad69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If one has a heart condition, as I do, it's very important to weigh in daily in the a.m. If you gain a significant amt., you may be retaining water and should seek medical advice. -

I have to stay away from having chicken ( any style) in salads. Otherwise, S T U C K. That's no fun. Haven't run across anything else in salads, including walnuts, raisans, etc., that cause a problem.

I was pleasantly surprise to see Cracker Barrel's menu with low cal items. Their new Shrimp/Grits entree is excellent and low cals per myfitnesspal.com.

Anyone experience almost no pain after surgery
dits4golf replied to newme4611's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Other than cateract surgery, this was the easiest by far. -
I was pleasantly surprised to see Applebee's under 550 Cal. menu items. I had their new Shrimp/veg/Chinese noodle entry. Per myfitnesspal.com, only 360 cals. And, it was filling & scrumptious. Many other menu items under 550 Cals. too.

We've done this in a slow cooker (Crock Pot), on Lo for 6 hrs. Pork goes down easily, no getting 'stuck.' (8>)

For those that had sleep apnea
dits4golf replied to Rainydayz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After losing approx. 50#, I decided one night to not sleep w/mask. I never slept so well & my wife said she did not hear me gasp for air, jump around like a fish out of Water, or snore. Been mask free since & down a total of 80#. I mentioned it to my GP & Bariatric surgeon. Both said "good." -
What's Your Diet Consist Of?
dits4golf replied to CharliBee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm with you. I eat anything I want, within reason and fullness. My body ( or band ) lets me know when to stop eating. I personally like my 'meats' a lot more than my pasta, potatoes, etc. If carbs being served on the table, I taste them last & only if I'm still a bit hungry. I also religiously track my cals. via fitday.com &/or myfitnesspal.com. I'm averaging 1500 cals/day and very full. -
