    How much time off work

Everyone is different; but I had my operation on a Friday morning (3/18/2011) and was back to work Monday morning; I work in an office (have to climb stairs) and worked 10 hours that day with no problems-and have not missed a day since. For me I think the key was walking. The hospital where I had my operation makes you stay over night- and they have you walk as soon as possible after surgery. I had heard that walking helps break-up the gas from surgery-so every time I woke up that night I walked and the next morning before coming home I walked all over the halls. I had no gas pain and felt great-only ever took a tylenol for pain. Just listen to your body. Hope this helps. :-)

    Surgery Tomorrow and scared!

Hi Kellyanne! It is going to be fine! My surgery was 3/18/11. My surgery was 8.30am and I was walking around the halls at the hospital by 11am. I felt some restriction/fullness the first week, but have never "felt" the band, actually the opposite right now-where I sometimes wonder if the thing is even in there, had my first fill Monday, still not feeling any differently yet, and am trying to be patient. The first few days there was quite a bit of swelling in my abdomin, and the biggest incision-where the port is was tender when going from sitting to standing, but I can't feel the port anymore either. Hope this helps ease your mind a little, realx it will be great and totally worth it! Best wishes for a wonderful experience and speedy recovery tomorrow!!

What is it like before you start getting fills?

I was banded 3/18, only felt a tiny bit of restriction the first few days after the op, other than that-same as you feel as though there is nothing there, have had no problems, which I am thankful for; however, I would like to feel that there is actually a band in there. I lost nine pounds this month, on the positive side doc says that I did that all on my own since there was nothing in the band at that point. I did get my first fill Monday, still not feeling any difference, my next fill appt is 5/3-so i am hoping to notice a diff. after that. Its comforting to know that I am not the only one feeling this way.
  4. I am doing really well! I had my first fill 3/30 and have another 4/18. It makes a big difference once it is filled. FYI, if you are counting cals, there is a great website that a few of us use myfitnesspal.com it's free and has lots of restaurants and grocery store food listed! I'm glad it went so well for you. It seems to only get better!

  5. Hi! Thanks for checking in; sorry it has taken me so long to reply... I am doing great! 2.5 weeks post op! I had my surgery Friday and was back to work Monday-and I made it all day, no problems. Was actually a really great experince and I have been healing well-the incisions are so tiny and almost completely healed. I am anxious for my first fill which is not until 4/18. How are you doing?

  6. How are you feeling post surgery? Almost 2 weeks down!

When did you return to work?

Thanks everyone for the insight! I think that I have a pretty high pain tolerance-was up and around and able to go home the day after for both of my c-sections; and this seems much less invasive. So I am hoping to make it in; at least for a little while on Monday~atleast that is my happy thought for now; I'll let you know how it goes.
  8. Thanks so much! I am nervous but know that it will be great!!

Best Wishes for tomorrow Rachael!! I am also having my surgery tomorrow!! I will be thinking of you, and waiting to hear how you are doing after; keep us posted. Good Luck Jam2You on Monday!! Almost there. Keep us posted! This is so inspiring and motivating to be able to know that others are going through this and we can all share our experiences and SUCCESS!!
  11. Hi DonnaJ4-my surgeon didn't require a liquid diet prior to the operations, but I tried to do one anyways beacuse I had seen lots of people on here doing it-I really liked the Carb Control protein shakes by EAS-the chocolate ones, I also made chicken soup and just strained out the broth. Hope that helps a little...Good Luck, you can do it!!

  12. Thanks for the encouraging words!!

  13. Good luck tomorrow! It may not be worth it for a few days, but a few weeks out, it is great!

  14. Congratulations! I am getting my band tomorrow, how are you feeling two weeks out? I am really loking forward to hearing how you are doing throughout your journey!!
  15. Happy St. Patty's Day!! I am getting my band tomorrow morning at 8am~ so I am hoping that my surgeon is not a big St. Patty's day partier! My plan has been to return to work Monday morning, when I mentioned this to one of the nurses on the phone she seemed to think I was crazy! The surgeon said that it was possible, but up to me; although they reccommed a week. I have a desk job with no heavy lifting or bending. What have your experiences been?? How soon did you return to work, or feel up to it?? Thanks!!
